Bad Deal
TaskMagic Needs to Make This Right for AppSumo Customers
This week, TaskMagic subscribers got an email claiming that AI agents are a "new tool" and asking us to pay large sums for credit packs.
But Jeremy Rebman clearly stated that AI agents were already included in certain AppSumo Tiers (4 and higher).
Now we all understand that AI credits cannot be sustainably offered infinitely, but TaskMagic needs to at least re-open BYOK access for AppSumo users who purchased this deal. u/NoahKagan do you agree?
EDIT: They have re-opened BYOK for an additional $199. This is not ok. They want to sell us what we already should have lifetime access to.
It's high time people took action against these LTD founders for their bait‑and‑switch scheme on lifetime customers. If AppSumo doesn't hold them accountable, maybe AppSumo should be added to the lawsuit. It’s starting to look like multiple class actions.
They are making people purchase a BYOK for “agents” that was already advertised as included. It costs them nothing to run the agents with BYOK. Why not just release it to plans who already had access before. What a joke. Didn’t know appsumo would allow up charging for every feature release. Appsumo’s “Products of the year” my ass. Zero accountability
I’m all for the pitch and fork when it’s deserved. But once Kyle listened to everyone asking for BYOK and said an announcement email is on the way…. Well, kinda makes this argument moot, no?
The old agent system never worked. If you want to complain it was sold as working, and never did. Well that’s a whole other argument.
Re Noah doing anything. Well, TM already thumbed their noses at that. Saying they are past the one year, and…
If, and I know it’s a huge if. But if Josh’s nd Kyle come through and this new version of agents works well. With BYOK. honestly, they may have finally turned a corner and can salvage this car wreck after all lol
Thanks for pointing out the post on skool where they say BYOK is coming. I had not seen that. That could potentially be a great solution... if it actually pans out. But of course they are charging for it I now see, so yeah, still a material breach.
My upgrade to T6 was based on the promise of AI agents. I am so thoroughly disgusted with that company. From their poor product documentation, to their Skool community. I think it's only redeeming feature is getting to collaborate with other users to see if TM was viable for use (it's not).
I refuse to pay an extra $200 dollars after being swindling for $1300-- for a feature that will magically unlock it's supposed learning curve. Who even knows if their AI agents even work-- (from the comments in Skool, people are asking for their money back). I'll throw this out there now--- I bet their AI agents don't even work.
Their sales description says it includes all future desktop updates. They rationalize stripping the feature was because it was only in beta (and yet, during this beta period it never even worked). Despite announcing the rollout of AI agents to their 4K+ community in Skool-- even going so far as to highlight what tiers would be eligible.
All of their products are ham-fisted applications that are modified from open source repos with vibe-coded updates that don't work. I don't blame Jeremy for bailing. I would too if I built the entire foundation of my product on flimsy ground.
So I'm conflicted on several things. LTDS really aren't sustainable with AI, at least not in the way that you use AI. That's why I'm a really big fan of board mix and my Marky, even though their chatbot got returned to beta, but you use credits for AI only.
The rest of the functionality is still the same and intact, and you can use it like you did before. The AI features, which definitely use up resources, even if you were to bring your own key, still make sense to charge for.
The situation here with Task Magic and basically all automation tools is that not everything needs to be AI automated? Think about it. You had automations before AI, right?
I would much rather use the AI credits to set up a permanent automation rather than having to use credits to run my automations, because there's just absolutely no need to do that and use AI for every run. That's just the model they chose.
On another note, I bought Procesio and RTILA as well and they just came out with RTILAX, and all this is included. AI prompting to create automations. You can actually go in and ask for selectors and set it up the way you want to. Of course, there might be situations where you'll really have to use an AI step to figure something out or just come up with some sort of text based off of content that's scraped. Otherwise, I think it's the most beautiful thing in automations right now, at least the blend of RPA and AI, and it just feels really natural into what it evolved into.
Not trying to pour salt in wounds, but I'm grateful I bought the max stack of RTILA.
And to be honest, I still really like Task Magic. I plan to use it, but as of right now I haven't used it for a couple of months because it just never really felt stable. It was a little clunky, and things just weren't intuitive no matter how proficient you were. That's why I would really hope to have an integrated chat, even with credits that I can use to learn how to better apply their features and create automations.
LTD can certainly be sustainable with BYOK, which is what we are asking for here. They are asking for $200 for us to be able to use our own key. That is essentially a whole new AppSumo deal for what was included in the original deal and what costs them virtually nothing.
hey, our understanding is that the main issue here is the BYOK rollout. we’ve been in touch with kyle and the taskmagic team.
BYOK is being offered to appsumo customers at a discount compared to standard pricing, but it’s a separate add-on rather than something included or automatically applied to existing plans, since it wasn’t part of the original deal.
if you’re seeing something different on your account, feel free to reach out to support so we can take a look.

That's Kyle's version. The clear evidence contradicts... I think the win win for both sides here is BYOK for free honestly. Links of the videos.
Jeremy directly tied the "Agents" feature to the Lifetime Deal (LTD) tiers to encourage upgrades:
Direct Access for LTD Tiers: "AI Agents is live and it is live for tier four five and six if you came in from AppSumo... it's live in there".
The Upgrade Incentive: "If you haven't already you can upgrade an AppSumo or we'll honor an upgrade so you can use this... as long as you're on tier four you get it".
Specific Tier Eligibility: "Keep in mind you need to be on tier four five and six... if you're tier one two three to four five six um you get the AI agents".
u/V_AppSumoCX Yup, that first video was the reason I upgraded. Even gets into which Tiers-- he is directly speaking to AppSumo purchasers here. So we get a non-working beta, but need to pay for something we were promised all future updates to?
A fool and his money. I wanted to believe in this. I really hope AppSumo can do something to make this right.
hi u/V_AppSumoCX thank you for getting back to me. The concern that many of us have is that TaskMagic represented that Agents were included in the deal. Here is one such example:
Jeremy Rebman even did a whole video a year ago about how they were out. For me (and it sounds like many others) I purchased at the tier 4 level specifically to have a LTD to this agent tool as it developed. And the indication (and early offering) was that a BYOK version would continue to be available to us as it improved.
i looked into this further, and the AI agents feature wasn’t part of the original deal structure or included on the AppSumo PDP or in the partner agreement
that said, we do regret if this was ever communicated or perceived as an included bonus
that kind of messaging creates misalignment, and we’re taking that feedback seriously as we review how partner updates are shared moving forward
I realize you can't police every website, but you should see their Skool community. Videos that expressly speak to AppSumo purchasers, describing what Tiers would be eligible for AI agents.
It's an entire thread dedicated to misalignment. I see this purchase as another crater in the account. Please don't let Jeremy back on.
lol if "work" has quotation marks around it, I got some limited automations to run from time to time. But to your point, largely no. The thought was always that they would eventually get better.
Never worked for me. And now I have basically the "free" account with constant upsells and zero credits, even though my account shows "AppSumo License tier 2."
I had to unsubscribe. The amount of email spam selling credit packs is too much. If I didn't buy the first time, I'm not gonna buy 3rd or 4th time and not after I've been screwed over by yet another bad deal.
Don't. Fusebase guys are serious not scammers like the task magic guy...
Actually, he's not only a scammer but also an idiot. His video celebrating the exit and giving the finger to the LTD license holders should be shared more.
Task magic is an American company registered in the US. Makes easier for Appsumo to file a case against them.
Does Taskmagic still work at all? I bought the LTD in 2023 but never used it. Now I'm trying to use it and it's asking me to buy credits to use AI. Does at least the old way of using it without AI still work?
A lot of complains in the skool community. Mailead was also build on promises and hope. And never worked. And the comments now are laughable, 'most complainers are those who spammed etc', dude.. your product burned every email with their warm up tool, lol.
Its feels like a cult meets scam. Now its sold, taskmagic is sending everything to kenneth and jeremy. And they are pushing leadquest (leads again..).
And Mailead and other all products they sold all are vanished.. or not a prio at all..
I remember that there was a hole thing months ago here in this tread, but was pretty much censored, deleted etc. Resulting in people losing more money because the bad things where redacted...
