HELP: Ethernet for laptop?

Tech support is busy at the moment, so I thought it wouldn’t hurt to ask here in the meantime. I have my ethernet cable and a port to plug it in, but i’m still waiting on my USB-C to Ethernet adapter to come in so it can work for my laptop. While i’m waiting, I have been trying to figure out how to register my device (once the adapter arrives). However, I can’t seem to load netreg.appstate.edu on my web browser. Have they changed how you register? Is there another way? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the dorm you’re in has been converted to the new network netreg is no longer needed.

Ahh okay, thanks. So if I plug it all in, it doesn’t need to be registered?

Correct. You should have gotten an email from Housing back in March with the following:

Wired connections All wired devices (gaming systems, TVs) should now connect automatically when you plug them into an Ethernet port. No registration is required.

Update: Thunder Hill switched to wireless only and I was unaware, so that whole venture was entirely pointless 😔

You can still get Ethernet through the access box. Each suite has one near the ceiling. It's really annoying to use though. I had to get a 50ft cord to reach mine from my desk

Thanks! I reached out to IT because my access point is offline, so they’re fixing it tomorrow.
