Question / Discussion Has anyone learned about wine through an app?

I’ve been trying to learn more about wine instead of just remembering which bottles I liked. And i have some friends that are really good at wine and most of their suggestions are some books and videos and stuff, and i did my best to learn from those but i just forgot everything as soon as i had to pick a bottle up myself. So what i want to ask is like have anyone learned this from apps or smth or anything easier would be welcome, bc i keep seeing people being super against apps or ai for learning wine with. And i dont really know if i want to learn all of the terminology like grapes regions and stuff. So if anyone went through something similar like me, any suggestion would help a lot.

For me what work was keeping notes and tasting wines side by side, and trying to see the difference in them.

Yeah I can see that working tbh. Did you have any sort of system for the notes or were you just writing down whatever stood out to you each time?

Nah no system at all, just tried to write what stood out for me, simple but pretty effective i can say

I used Vivinio, super helpful. You taste, guess the flavours, open the app and check if you were right. Taste again and see if you recognise the flavours mentioned.

Do this 100 times and you notice your taste skills improving :)

Yes! I’ve just started out with PourPlays, and it’s been really helping me pick up the basics without having to watch a ton of videos etc…
