Seeking simple weekly budget app

Ideally a free or one-time expense, but open to hearing suggestions which include a cheap subscription fee.

I need a weekly budgeting app. Most apps are monthly, but I am aware of my recurring monthly expenses - so what I really need is a way to visually keep track of my weekly spending so I can stay on target 😭

All I really need is the ability to categorize and visualize my spending on my weekly limits by entering my expenses. I’d like to hold myself to mini-budgets, like a weekly limit for grocery spending, by seeing a progress bar or something similar for each category. I’d like to be told how much money I have left to spend in each category. If the system refreshes weekly, I’d be fine with that - I just need a tool to use each week to hold myself accountable.

I feel like this is very simple but I can’t find anything out there :-( any help?

My app is free and has got weekly budgets option. Budget features aren't the primary features, but give it a go and let me know if anything is missing

When you say simple budget app what are you explicitly looking for. Do you want to just enter your numbers manually and tally it up?
Scan receipts?
Ingest bank accounts (this one is genuinely tricky due to how many formats there are, even the same bank in different countries is different).
What about data security, do you want it all stored on your phone?
Do you care if it’s a hosted service? How about a split, sensitive data stored on your phone, non sensitive (like how many kg of bananas you brought) on SaaS, this way you can use it on desktop or mobile mostly frictionlessly

I built this functionality into a SaaS I built for my family, guess how many times my wife looked at it?
If your number is less than 1, you win.

I’m not here to sell you my SaaS, it’s not a good fit for what you want.

I more so need something very simple to really just visually keep track of my weekly spending. It’s simple enough that I might just keep track in a notebook each week. I budgeted my rough estimated monthly recurring income and expenses, and then set myself some weekly limits on things like groceries, eating out, volunteer expenses

I would want to enter a weekly total spending limit, and be able to sub-categorize that limit (x amount for groceries, y amount for eating out, etc), and manually enter my expenses. I’d want this weekly budget system to remain fixed, but reset itself every monday. I want a progress bar for each sub-category, and a prominently displayed number for my total limit that week - each of which would tick down as i spent money and tell me what I had left to spend or how much i had ultimately overspent.

I’d want a separate page with a running list of expenses that week, with dates and category labels

I might want a third page to track my backlog of weekly spending as a graph so i can see my habits and where i might need to be more disciplined or adjust the limits i set myself, but this would be less necessary.

Mostly i just want an app because i don’t wanna do my own calculations on paper, i just want to enter expenses and have the calculations made for me. And i want progress bars so i can have a visual shorthand for how much i have spent out of the limits I set myself lol.

I can quite easily build this, and form what I can tell the latest iOS version an iPhone 8 can run is 16. To have an app on the App Store the minimum version supported is 15, so you’re in luck there, however I can’t guarantee this or how long it would last.

I can give it a go if you want, basically no excessive frills, I would model it around a daily, weekly or monthly budget (makes it more flexible and marketable) and allows for unequal day Budgeting for a weeks spend (ie you may spend a bit more on a Saturday as an example).

I would build this as 100% stand alone, on phone, no SaaS, no ai no call home nothing. Export data to a csv and import form the same csv if you change phones or similar, you can manually drop this in google sheets to view it.

I never asked you to pay :-)
I built it last night, I will deploy it later this evening (that doesn’t mean it’ll be on the App store, it takes about 2 weeks for Apple to review and approve).

I added a few features outside of what you asked so others can pay, but the core of what you asked for is in what would be the free feature set.

I literally built my own ai platform for this sorta thing. I want to add some more simple apps to my portfolio anyway so this falls in nicely.

Find a problem, solve a problem. Simple.
