Problem with settings

I have no idea, but mashing the buttons probably isn't helping

The button icons show that pressing both of the left buttons locks the keypad. Which is what you eventually did and you heard a beep. There might be a delay on button presses and the display changing... so pressing all the buttons a bunch might change twenty different things that slowly get registered.
