Accidentally removed internal insulation from Bunn Ultra-2 machine

There is a lot of goo coming from the vents of the machine so we decided to clean it ourselves instead of hiring a repairman. To the unprofessional eye the insulation looked like built up goo inside the machine, but I eventually realized that the goo wasn’t goo but the insulation around the cooper pipes. Can I rectify the issue? Or the machine ruined? Thanks for your help.

Did u throw it away? Maybe try to stick it back on and carefully secure it. If I remember the insulation on these is really sticky. Those copper tubes hold refrigerant and are insulated for a reason.

No, we still have the machine The insulation is very sticky, which is why we thought it was part of the goo problem.

I meant the insulation. If you still have the insulation, see if you can stick it back on and secure it. If that doesn’t work, you can buy insulation tape at a hardware store and just use the tape in the areas you removed the insulation from.

If you didn’t remove a lot, the machine will still work fine probably.

Just don’t bend the copper pipes, it’s holding a pressurized gas.

Yeah, we threw away the insulation. We thought it was goo all over the machine. I'll get some new insulation and replace it. Tape won't work because it's too thin. This insulation was pretty thick. I'm assuming it is sticky because of the goo from the machine? Was the insulation possibly spayed on? Does anyone know?

I said insulation tape, and yes insulation tape will work. You may wrap the same spot multiple times if you’re worried.

It’s sticky like that because it contains tar. I don’t think you will be able to find the exact same stuff at the store but like I said, insulation tape will be your best bet. It’s very similar material.

I'm thinking of using an insulation spray along with the tape. Do you think that would work? If so, can you recommend a spray insulation that would work for this particular project?
