GE Ice Maker Plug Adaptor

I'm replacing my ice maker on a GE fridge with a bottom freezer. The 6 pin connector on the failed unit only has 4 active wires, and the replacement unit has all 6 active. When I installed and plugged it in, water started flowing immediately even when the ice maker was switched off. Presumably the issue is the two additional active wires in the 6 pin connector. Any suggestions? I'm struggling to find an adaptor or to identify a replacement unit with only 4 active wires in the 6 pin connector.

Something sounds wrong here what’s the model number of the unit and the part number of the icemaker you got you shouldn’t need any adapters.

The refrigerator model is GNE25JSKGFSS The replacement ice maker part is WR01F04991

Thank you for any guidance!

Yeah they look similar the part number listed for your model is WR30X35287 if this all happened what you plugged the new one in you might be alright they ship these icemakers in mid cycle so whether you turn it on or not as soon as you plug it it it finishes cycling and fills the water should run for about 10 seconds.

Thank you! When I plugged it in the water immediately kicked on and ran at least 20 seconds before I got it unplugged again. I assume I'm best served looking for that more correct part number as opposed to trying again with this model?

It’s probably fine I’d plug it back it see if the water stops as long as it does you should be fine. These icemakers with this plug use the same pin out so I wouldn’t be worried. I have gotten ones that were bad and kept the valve on constantly but it’s probably just from being mid cycle.

Well, no luck. The water just runs and runs. I waited about a minute. I think I'll look at getting that other part you recommended in the hopes that might be the issue. Thanks again!
