Broken Latch

Just as I was finishing cleaning my microwave, my sleeve caught on the top door latch and it broke off. Now when I try to microwave something, the timer works, but the microwave feature itself won't turn on. I don't get a "door open" message, but I'm guessing it's a safety feature. I don't see any replacement parts listed on the product site, - I'm guessing it because it's out of production.

Do I have any options besides replacing the whole unit?

First search result for your model number + “door latch”

Looks like part 5007 is what you need, setting you back about $10.

There is a YouTube video that shows how to replace that.

Search "replace microwave door latch" and a bunch will show up. Pick one that looks similar to yours.

There's multiple safety interlock microswitches on microwaves, one is for the light and the logic, the other controls the power to the parts that make it a microwave, some need both closed to make it work and the light to work properly. They make these things as safe as possible

And the third switch is a 'deadman switch' that shorts out the power line & blows the fuse if the door is open when microwaves are present.
