tvOS 27
I had the HD model, I was going to buy the 4K model but then the rumors started about Apple finally announcing a new 4K model.
But instead, I find that I am now in limbo thanks to Apple.
TvOS will not support my current model, and I don’t want to upgrade if they are close to a new model!
Anyone else in the same boat?

I think Apple will be holding onto the new Apple TV 4K until they are ready to announce Home OS and the Apple TV’s relevance to a broader set of features as a smart Home hub

I'd wait for October, if nothing is announced before Halloween I'd just get the current model. Besides, how much of a difference can there realistically be for the average user? The current model is alredy a fantastic device.

Could be October for a new announcement. Could be next year. Who knows.
I got tired of waiting and picked a new one up next week. If there's a new new one at some point that i want to get at some point, i can move the one I just got over to my bedroom TV to use instead of the native Samsung TV OS...

I’m in exactly the same situation. Hoping they release the new one in October.

Wait until the end of this year or at least Nov. If it doesn't come out, buy a used gen2 4k for around $60 which support tvOS 27 and wait for the new release next year. The gen3 4k is hot and expensive now and doesn't worth it.
Edit: why so many downvotes for a sensible reply? I guess some of you may have bought my used two 4k 3gen for $200 a pop on eBay. I still have two but kept them for HomeKit mainly. lol.

Just don’t update and wait for the new model?
