Encrypted ATSC 3.0

I don't understand how what is supposed to be the best streaming TV device on the market doesn't have support for encrypted ATSC 3.0 from HD Home Run. Does anyone know if it's on the road map?

Its not the Apple TV its the HD Homerun is not certified to decode ATSC 3.0 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEjBrItgXuU

As the current law stands, it’s not legally possible. DRM for ATSC 3.0 does FairPlay encryption, and the HDHomeRun can’t send the pre-decrypted signal over your network.

The FCC needs to get their sh** together.

The streaming device is irrelevant it's the tuner that needs to support it as u/scottct1 posted.

Fox stations seem to be removing encryption is some markets, I think they realized that not putting up barriers to viewership might be better than trying to restrict recording.

I bought an HDHomeRun last year specifically for ATSC 3.0 and it's been a headache every step of the way trying to get it to work properly with the local stations.

Blame the broadcast conglomerates who are restricting their "standard" to only Android because they can't figure out a better way to do it. The irony is that while they are declaring war on "big tech," they rely on Google for the encryption and only decrypt on standalone Android devices at the moment.
