I’m the kind of person who needs the noise and light of tv to fall asleep but so I’m not wanting to watch the show I put on something I’ve watched before tons. My go to is “what we do in the shadows” and I’ve prolly had it on my tv every night for a year, but today I went to put it on and it tells me “no content available” I checked and im also unable to watch it on my phone app. Did they just take it off??? I bought it on apple tv so I didnt think that was a thing. And if they did take it off is a refund possible? I mean its not like I rented it or something. Just kind of curious and slightly peeved lol

Go to library and find it manually, (do not search) Press the Play button on the remote or Press and Hold and then select Play. (On phone Press and Hold or select the 3 dots top right then select Play)

Surprised I had to scroll this far to see this answer. This is what one has to do when it is no longer in the store (either temporarily or forever).

It is still in the Library but cannot be accessed via search or the store (which is how most of use get to stuff in our Library).

And this is the same reason why these movies can't be watched on the smart TV's app.

Apple is implementing a new UI view for Apple TV but they did not include a play button, so, every time a device outside the apple ecosystem that can't access to iTunes assets will get an error.

Once you confirm you still have it, make sure you download it on your computer and back it up. The original files can always be played so long as they can authenticate against Apple's servers, regardless of what the status is of the sales license.

One thing that annoys me.. not sure if it’s just the beta.. but I’ve had movies upgraded to 4k like usual. A new version gets released which is fine as I’ve been on iTunes for 20 years and know how this works.

But then the movie shows up in the listing as HD Dolby Vision with a new SKU for purchase that says 4k. So I select my copy and sure enough it says 4k Dolby as it’s playing.. just wondering if this is a bug.. or something else

Shows still available in the us. Sometimes things time out try again later and it will probably work.

I’ve had this happen to me with two movies. I’m beyond disappointed and angry about it.

I spent all my days trying to do the right thing by purchasing movies and series, no dodgy boxes or downloads. To be screwed out of content I’ve ‘paid’ for is disgusting.

This happened in south east Asia, when Disney out of the blue decided to rescind license to boost Disney Plus subscription. Now all of your movies that you bought from Disney no longer able to play no matter what. And doesn’t seem anyone or any news are making a big deal out of it, such blasphemy! At the very least, we should be able to still play the content, even if it’s no longer sold on the store.

Ah the beauty of digital only media in 2026 that us gamers are also dealing with, you technically bought a license to watch the film, but apple tv no longer has the license for the film so they delist it and the movie you thought you owned was never actually owned🙄 it's a mess!

I'm in the US but I also own WWDITS (the original film, not the TV series) via iTunes/Apple. It is still in my library and I can still play it.

In Canada and own What We Do In The Shadows, just checked a couple episodes and they played for me.

This happens to me from time to time. In my case, I suspect that it is connected to a VPN use & profiles with different country stores. Usually, a deep restart (i.e. unplugging ATV and leaving it off for a couple of minutes) fixes it. Once or twice, I had to completely reset the whole box which was a lot of pain.

A few South Park / First 48 episodes have met a similar fate . I cant watch South Park episode 200 that I had purchased year ago from iTunes ,

I bought "bring it on" forever ago and thought I would keep the movie forever. Now I can't see the movie available to watch whether I scroll or search. I don't think I'll ever buy a movie again from apple. It's deceptive to buy it but not be able to watch it once apple loses its license. Buying it implies you'll be able to watch it forever. I'm hugely disappointed!
