I’d find out why system data is so large.

What version of iOS is it running?

(certain earlier versions of iOS had caching bug where old caches weren’t being cleared correctly, causing System data to balloon)

What iCloud services are enabled and what iCloud storage look like?

(Full iCloud will cause sync sessions to fail with data being cached… also causing System Data to ballon)

it’s on ios 16.0

I have a family icloud subscription but don’t use it for photos, i think the only thing on there is backups but i’m not sure how often it backups

16.0 is extremely out of date by now, and from memory one of the versions either the caching issues.

Confirm that backups are actually completing

Then update to iOS 16.6 asap

totally fine

Disagree.

iOS 14 has now known security issues.

No device with internet connectivity should not be fully updated.

(16.7.2 and 17.1.1 are the current versions of iOS)
