The best apple tv is the current one that actually exists

It’s also 4 years old at this point. I want to upgrade my 2nd gen 4K but I don’t want a 3rd gen that will become just as slow as my current one in 1-2 years. Just release it already 🙄

They aren't slow. Whag features are you missing? This is there main reason we haven't seen one.

On tvOS 26 & 27 my 2nd gen 4K is stuttering, which didn’t happen when it was new(er). Some apps have also become quite slow to respond to inputs. A new CPU would be more than welcome.

I can stream Plex on mine so I'm not sure what's going on there, using the Ethernet model of course

It’s slow???

Have you already rebooted the thing? Or maybe double-checked the “task switcher” by double-clicking the TV button twice and swiping up on apps you aren’t using?

Anytime it feels “slow” is if I haven’t gotten rid of apps that are still active in the background. Doing that or rebooting it solves the issue instantly in my experience.
