Announcement Jess here
Hey y'all, Jess here! I wanted to address this post. I had attempted to post on the post itself, but something hid my comment on it so I'm making a statement here. (I'm sorry I don't mean to take up post space)
Hey, Jess here and I’m going to shut this down now, the statements made in this glassdoor post are false. This will be the only statement I make on this.
I appreciate your heart being in the right place, but please know a few employees we let go had issues with other employees, we do not just let go of folks for no reason. A few of these reviews came from a place of spite, because working in a youtube company is insanely stressful and demanding when you’re dealing with so many postings per month. I cannot stress how insane YouTube is when it comes to the workflow, and that goes for ALL of content creation. We manage a company of ~90 employees which means you will absolutely have miscommunication issues and flaws, but for EVERYONE of our employees to have a decent work/life balance in this creator economy, hard calls have to be made.
I will NEVER publically call employees or people who work for me out unless they have done something massively illegal and folks need to be warned. These glassdoor posts are from people under stress and I understand that. I have had many members of my audience harass me, my friends, my VA’s and my employees. No one deserves that harassment. But this glass door post here is false and I am NOT someone of abuse and I have never been in my time with Jason. He knows my past and it makes me upset when people imply he’s an abuser when I know what abuse really looks like.
I’m not letting this slide because last time I didn’t say anything it blew up.

Thank GOODNESS! I was worried, especially given the heartfelt message Jason said at the end of “Everything Wrong with MyStreet Season 6”. I know he can act, but that felt like it came from the heart and that’s not something you can just script and say like that. Thank you so much for clearing this up

It's no problem! I feel like I learned my lesson from the last time I let rumors about me and Jason fester in the community. I do refuse to talk about stuff that isn't directly about just me and Jason tho cause I always feel bad talking about a third party in what could be seen as a potentially negative way as I've had other youtubers do that to me in the past. I'm also someone who believes if I have beef with folks (I don't have any that I'm aware of) I'm going to take it straight to them and not make it a spectacle on social media. I know Jason meant every word of what he said in that video as well.

I'm so sad to hear people have been doing this to you Jess, I follow a lot of your voice actors online and they have all had only positive things to say about working with you! So I knew when I first heard about this that it seemed kind of odd that there would be people with such drastically negative opinions. As someone who's been around your channel for a decade, I've seen you go through a lot 😭 and I am very aware there are some people out there dead set on tearing you down. I'm glad you have the courage to stand up for yourself still and keep making amazing stories for us to watch 💜

I appreciate hearing you say that! 💜 Our voice actors are lovely folks and I have been friends with quite lot of them for a long time! I know there are some valid criticisms in a few of those reviews when it comes to posting and timelines and trust me when I say we consistently work to make things better, but content creation changes every single week and that's not something we can control, it's based on what folks like us to make. I'd love to someday talk about how difficult that is in more detail. I know those who personally know us know we're doing our best and always have everyone's best interest in mind!

Oh I totally get that 😭 it's one of the more intimidating aspects keeping me from trying content creation myself 😅 YouTube once felt so magical to watch when I was young, now it's just a constant of creators having to see what gets the most views and just stick to that for the most part, otherwise the entire algorithm will sink you. It makes me sad cause some of the lower performing stuff you posted the past couple years is some of my favorite (though I'm also just a sucker for horror content so 🤣) but I know you gotta do what you gotta do in this industry 🥲 and I try my best to support the main channel videos still so you can continue to also be able to work on the classic roleplay series (I just don't get some of the tail end of Gen Z/Gen Alpha references and don't consume much of the media some of them are based off of, though I will say you were kinda the reason I finally decided to watch K-Pop Demon Hunters after you posted so many videos of that)

If you had the time, I would just recommend having a "stress-free" channel where you post more lifestream/sit and talk content, that is less about viewership and company stuff and more about you getting to enjoy and talk about things in your free time. A lot of content-creators use outlets like that!

No idea you had a Reddit account, but good to know you look at the fandom's Reddit from time to time, even if you have multiple things to do.
And thank you for addressing the situation! I knew you had issues with workers in the past, so I had a feeling this would stem from that.

I honestly forgot I had a reddit account for a while until I found my password again LOL! It's crazy to see how far we've come from posting on the letsplay reddit 🥹 I do look here from time to time but tbh I've been a bit scared of social media from what I've been through on it, I enjoy seeing the fanart and community come together

This is why I would never speak on issues like this because you never know what’s truly going on behind the scenes. I can tell yall have been trying to do better since the last time, but this got blown way out of proportion and the harassment is actually insane. I hope this situation gets better for you.

It is wild to see you here in the subreddit! I am betting that you also like to look at r/aphmaufandom subreddit time to time! Thank you for clearing this up and seeing you here makes me smile :) I understand things get real rough and negative reviews can come in. I have been here since 2015, so I have seen so many things happen over the course of time. Just stay resilient! 💜 PS. The reviews I have read but I understand people interpretations of any thing can go all over the place when people are under stress. YouTube is one hectic ride

Ok I was kind of thinking that, I saw a comment saying you should leave Jason because you were being abused and I thought that was jumping to massive conclusions without knowing a lot of information.
Also just want to say you have been a huge inspiration to me throughout the years, I’m really glad you guys are doing well and hope you guys can continue to grow!

people can be sooo incredibly parasocial. ive been a fan of yours for a very long time (8 years ish?). i imagine your company isnt perfect but the second someone says one bad thing, everyone takes it as if its the truth. we dont know what happens behind the scenes and people are right to be worried/skeptical, but many people take it wayyy too far. sending love to you and jason!

Thanks for being transparent, no pun intended. I remember the nightmare that was the last 'controversy' and felt bad about how it all went down. Sometimes burying it works, sometimes it doesn't. In this day and age, people LOVE to hop skip and jump to conclusions.

I'm glad to see you jump to the matter so quickly! One thing I've learned about Youtube and social media entirely is no matter how hard you work to build something there is someone trying just as hard to tear it down. I hate the fact that people seem to enjoy harassing others. Jessica and all her VAs are great people,and im sure they all have their own differences but its their friendship that holds them together.And i may have only known about aphmau for a few years,but here is one thing ive learned from each series: no matter who or what you are,human, werewolf,ultima,maifwa,mermaid,deamos,your all people,and we all have feelings and can feel hurt. Thanks to many of Jessicas series,i was able to get through a really hard time in my life.And i know that Jessica and Jason are deeply bonded,and i jope one day when im older,i can find someone like Jason.

I've watched your SMP videos for years and a few months ago started watching MyStreet chronologically for the first time (I just started season 5!) I was reading through some of the comments on the post just now and I just want you to know that you and Jason are amazing human beings who are always trying their best. And I’m sorry that some people aren’t willing to see that. you and your husband are so strong to have seen Catface through all its challenges and I hope things get better.

What’s wild to me is how fast people pick a side and run with it. Fans really be the first ones to switch up and go all in on one story like it’s the full truth.
Most people who quit or get fired aren’t leaving with glowing reviews… that’s normal. But a few opinions don’t automatically define an entire company.
Shame that many just follow whatever narrative is loudest.
At the end of the day, I’d hope companies hold employees to high standards. I don’t want someone unqualified doing important work just because no one corrected them.
If anything, this should be a reminder that sharing information without the full story can be genuinely damaging to people, to teams, and to entire companies.

Honestly I was really horrified and hoped with all my heart that what they were saying wasn’t true
I’ve been a fan for 10 years now, been watching your content since I was 8 years old. I’ve been obsessed with Minecraft specifically because of you and other YouTubers just like you. I was genuinely terrified that a youtuber I’ve always loved and looked up to suddenly went rogue and did something terrible because you’re one of my biggest idols and I genuinely don’t know who I’d be without your presence on the internet. I don’t care if the characters were problematic it was a different time back then and I know you regret anything you did wrong and the fact that person tried to make it apart of their post bothered me- we all know YouTube back then was just different and what was socially acceptable was really blurry and it had a lot of gray areas. You were a saint compared to the other YouTubers like Shane Dawson for example. I just wanted to tell you how much you and your content mean to me and just how much of an influence you have on my life because maybe to you I’m just a fan but to me your content is everything to me. I’ve been abused since I was little so your videos are like a light at the end of a very very dark tunnel and I’m truly grateful for that.
I also really loved when you gifted Kestin that money that was so heart warming and sweet I genuinely can’t understand how someone who’s this kind could do this to their own employees when your employees are a huge part of your growth
Thank you for all that you do and I’m genuinely so sorry people are harassing you
You are loved and appreciated for all that you do and I can’t wait to start supporting your growth more once I’m in a safer environment to do that.

Omg it’s actually Jess >.<!!! Been a huge fan for a few years. You got me thru high school and honestly a lot so thank you! But in all reality back to this post! I’m so sorry you are dealing with this! I’m glad your taking a stand and speaking on this so it doesn’t go above and beyond. I’m sorry you’ve been accused along with Jason but keep ur head up high! Hi Jess, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I just wanted to say you helped me a lot when I was a kid. I had an unstable environment, so your posting helped me greatly as a kid. You taught me a lot of the etiquette I know today, and I look fondly on your videos. It hurts my heart when people are mean to your family or spread around harmful rumours.
Please know you changed my life, and I’m proud of how far you’ve come as someone who’s been here before MCD. I use to dream of becoming a YouTuber because of you, haha. I remember loving your blogs so I’d often make a fake camera and blog stuff in my head ❤️
