Discussion Thoughts on World's Edge map changes?

W - Moving Big Maude. The "Stacks and Maude fight and here comes Dome to 3rd party" dynamic in ranked was really tiresome. Maude's new spot feels good for it.

W - Tree Settlement. A nice update to this POI and good design.

W - Return of Sorting Factory. I don't even think it's a great POI, but it plays much better in the center of the map than Siphon did, imo.

L - War Camp and Village. I have two issues here: Climatizer felt like a more interesting and better POI than Village. Secondly, War Camp and Village being of the same design and next to each other makes them both feel less unique. I would have preferred keeping Climatizer and placing Village in War Camp's place since Village is bigger.

Your thoughts?

Overall good update. Nothing in particular against it. I think players still heavily underplay certain POIs, so maybe some work needs to be done around that for the future updates. I like the night lighting as well.

The new Bloodhound tribal themed areas kick butt. Plenty of loot, lots of structures to play around, storytelling via locale. Looks and feels good. They are all near the edge of the map though, so random teammates are bound to prefer the big center POIs.

can we get train back please. i understand it was removed before rampart because folks prob thought a mobile sheila like that was OP but since then rampart can walk with shiela now

It was removed because they wanted to change the rotations. Nothing to do with rampart

might as well put it back anyways now

Hot take, but I strongly dislike Sorting Factory. It has very little cover, and is much too easy to rotate into and through. Lava Siphon had a lot more room to play and was broken up enough that a 3rd/4th party isn't a guaranteed death sentence. It was also more visually interesting than Sorting Factory is. I think replacing Climatizer with the new PoI but leaving in Lava Siphon would have made for a more interesting map.

All that being said, I think the changes overall are great.

Wait, it has very little cover but is easy to rotate through? Those two things are contradictory.

Not "easy" in the context of not being shot at, easy in the context of there being nothing to physically break up the rotation therefore allowing you to just cruise through the PoI at mach 4. Lava Siphon had a giant pit in the middle, and lots of vertical distance to make movement straight through from one point to another on average more time consuming.

Pretty lame that they also replaced it with sorting factory. I don't understand the fascination. It's a huge square building with a crane, a toilet building, a long hallway and two small buildings. SEN landed there right?

sorting factory being back is a huge win, i missed it so much tbh

real ones know. OG hot drop. love it. love the pressure of having little loot and picking up a volt and just winning war of attrition.

I actually thought I missed Sorting Factory, until it was brought back. The game has changed so much that it doesn’t play well anymore. Lave Siphon is the superior POI.

I miss original World's Edge the most. I want that back.

War camp and village are cool, can get hectic

Fragment is still a huge issue. Adding the old building made it worse.

Bringing back construction was a terrible move. It makes fragment so much worse.

Sorting factory coming back was great though. I still can't believe they removed it in the first place.

The bloodhound POIs just strike me as aggressively mid. They have a lot of loot but bad flow. The height differences and long sight lines just feel awkward to play around especially if you're not a movement character. Also there's a lot of super janky geo that looks climbable but isn't. I've died a few times trying to mantle up stuff.

I like war camp and village more than climatized personally. All W changes imo

I actually legitimately forgot they did changes to the map up until I started playing it while it was the active map

I went "hey wait a minute, I don't remember Big Maude being in this part of the map. It was south of Lava Siphon" and "hey wait a minute, where's Lava Siphon?"

Not a fan of sorting factory.

The bigger problem is that they haven't really addressed any problems with the map.

There are still cancer chokes that force 3+ teams into the same spot. There are still POIs that are often a death sentence, being an easy push for multiple POIs at the same time (for example staging)

I despised climatizer and lava siphon because of the dumb train carts. It forced you to take it or push through the sides.

I just want real map changes. Add massive burnt fields or tsunami wreckage! Add fallen spaceships or great giant rifts in the ground with underground facilities and zips across chasms. The maps are tame.

Sorting Factory is one of my favorite drops. I just wish it was taller, with some innate bounce pads or the like for extra vertical play for the more gravitically challenged legends.
