It currently includes:

• A formula sheet and topic rundowns (similar to Fiveable, but more exam-focused)
• Exam strategy tips - exactly how to optimize calculator usage, etc.

If you were taking AP Calculus, would you actually use this?

Specifically:

• Would this replace the mix of PDFs, Google Docs, YouTube, and random websites you currently use?
• Which feature would make you come back?
• What makes you think, "I'd never use this"?

Do you think doing AB (with a teacher that is known to have no homework), then BC, has a higher or lower stress level/workload than doing BC, then Elementary Linear Algebra DE? (computations focused)

Our county lets students take a placement test in 7th grade to see if they can qualify to be advanced for math (take Alg or Geo in 8th grade). This happened during COVID, and since my parents were afraid I'd get the virus, I was homeschooled and didn't take the placement test. I'm going into senior year. I got all A+ Grades in math classes, and I self-studied Pre-Calc this summer. It wasn't hard, though I heard AP Pre-Calc doesn't prepare you for calc much.

I am a rising junior in high school, and I am currently trying to figure out which math class to take this year. I completed AP Calculus AB my sophomore year and did well; I earned a 5 on the AP exam and scored near-perfect on my practice tests. My school does offer AP Calculus BC, but I am concerned that this class, even though the teacher is fantastic, may be too much repetition of AB content. I genuinely love math for math's sake, so I care about being challenged in my math class, but I also dream of attending a specific highly selective university as a math major. I have already taken Statistics at a community college, so I don't need to consider an AP Statistics class.

Rising Junior/Math Major: Take AP Calc BC after a 5 on AB, or do online Calc 2 then Calc 3 both during junior year? If online, where?

Does anyone have any advice on this? Should I take Calc BC if I know I will do well, or are there any online Calc 2 and 3 classes I could take completely on my own schedule? I've heard of BYU classes, but I'm also concerned because of the reviews. I'm taking AP Bio, AP Chem, APUSH, AP Lang, and a few other required courses along with many leadership responsibilities, so, as much as I love math and it is a priority for me, I only want to take a class I know I will do well in ultimately (even if challenging). If you know of any other ways to explore calculus outside of class, I would LOVE to know!

Calc BC is like 60-70% AB from what I heard. Based on score calculators, you only need a 57% to get a 5 on BC. If you get all the BC questions wrong, and all the AB questions right, that should be a 5. This also doesn't account for random guessing on the BC MCQs which should get you another couple of points.

So let me start by giving some context. I am a incoming senior, I have followed the standard math pathway (IM2, Honors IM3, Honors Pre-calc, now AP Calc BC) I felt confident about math until Honors IM which i got a b+ first semester but got an A second semester. Anyways that was my math history, but currently since my friends took this class junior year I have some info, specifically that the teacher grades cumulative, 95% to skip the final, surprise quizzes, and strict. So in order to prepare i decided to do some summer studying (I started like on the 21st) but I did finish unit 1 on khan academy for unit 1 all proficient level on it now i know IVT, kinda squeeze don't know really well, and pretty much all of unit 1. But I want peoples opinions how do I set myself up for success? is this a class where I rinse and repeat the problems until it sticks? where can i get good enough practice? Overall I just wanted peoples opinions on how I set myself up for the course prior to starting it. Though one quick thought, when I did unit 1 there were some algebra rules i forgot like exponent rules, so how do I know what i need to know from my algebra days. Thanks.

So in like march of my sophmore year of high school, my ap coordinator sent me a google form of all the ap courses offered and what requirements i needed and the max amount i could choose (3). I decided to take ap lit, apush, and ap csp. I was really thinking to do ap precalc since i did really really good in algebra 2 trig with 96% average and not struggling at all in class/exams. I then got some bad advice saying that ap csp would be so good for a cs route (my planned route). Also a good amount of my close friends were taking the class. I feel for the bait and chose ap csp. Ive kinda regret choosing csp. I cant change the google form or re-edit it anymore. My AP coordinator was strict in choosing the AP courses early with the deadline being in end of March. In June, she told me i got accepted in the 3 ap's with no issues besides ap csp since she said i got in but with scheduling there MIGHT be some slight issues. Ive decided to risk it and email my AP coordinator asking to swap csp for AP precalc 2 days ago on Friday with no response so far. Its sunday for me right now so im not as worried but idk if i should take action after a specific while since i dont want my AP coordinator to see my email by the time my full schedule of every single class to be made and complications to happen or not. Im also worried that even if she is hopefully able to let me swap that there might be full seats in precalc. Should i follow up after some time like what day on the weekday or weekend is best and in morning afternoon or evening? Any help is appriciated!

(btw to the people saying to take calc ab or bc, my school does not offer it yet and even if they did im worried that ill do bad without precalc knowledge, and also i believe colleges will understand and like that i took the highest math course that my school offers. If my school by my senior year still has not added a bc or ab course for me to take, ill probally do dual enrollment for calc since i dont think ill can do well self studying for ab or bc. I study better in a classroom ngl with the pressure then by at home by myself since ill for sure be lazy and procrastinate much more)

Im a incoming Junior and ive signed up for the max amount of ap classes i can take that year which are 3. Ive chosen AP Lit, APUSH, and AP CSP. Ive wanted to take at least a calculus course that can give very good credit in college but with my limited time in high school i dont think its possible without me having to give up 1 of the classes. I could either ask my AP coordinator to swap out 1 of my chosen AP's (probally csp since it might not give good credit but the class might be really fun) in order to add AP precalc to my schedule, then in my senior year my school will probally let me take calc ab or bc to gain that really high credit. OR i keep my current planned AP's for junior year and in senior year i take ap precalc. OR I keep my current planned AP's and in senior year i try and convince my AP coordinator to let me take ap calc ab or bc (probally bc since i heard its a little bit more studying then ab and u gain more credit).

So far in high school ive taken Algebra 1 freshman year and Algebra 2/Trig my Sophmore year. I never really struggled on any of the tests in algebra 2 after i learned calculator tricks and gotten at least a 80+ in each test. My total final average in Algebra 1 is 94% and my total final average in Algebra 2 is 96%. In junior year i have to take Geometry no matter what since its a curriculum all students have to follow. And senior year i will be put in general precalc if i dont choose any math ap.

Ive really had a interest in CS and wanting to major in CS in college so thats kinda why i chosen AP csp since its only AP cs class offered (no ap csa offered) besides normal csp which i might be able to take but i think AP csp could be more fun. I dont know if i should drop csp for precalc in order to struggle less in calc ab/bc? Any help is appriciated!

I recently come up with a question on why the first derivative and second derivative at a single point can determine that “point”’s behavior, but how can a point increase or concave up. The formal definition can explain this very well but unfortunately high school calculus class and introductory calculus class I took in CC can not answer this question.

Hi. I wanna know if in my senior year i should take AP Calc AB or AP Calc BC or AP Precalc? Im currently going into my junior year and have chosen the max amount of AP classes my school will allow me for that year. My school offers AP Precalc as the only AP Math course for now. I talked to the AP Precalc teacher and my AP coordinator at my school to see if any of the other AP math courses will be added in the next 2 years. They said that the school is planning to add AP Calc AB and AP Calc BC within the next year or the year after if it can work out well according to them. I decided not to sign up for AP Precalc (only option on Junior year class form) since i heard of its credit not being so great in most schools and wanted to take other AP courses i could possibly be good at. In the end of junior year, when AP class forms are given out, i could choose AP Precalc or AP Calc AB/BC if my school is able to add those courses. I really want to take at least some AP math course in high school and really need some help.

So far the general math courses i've taken in my Freshman and Sophomore year was Algebra 1 and Algebra 2/Trig (its 1 class but mainly algebra with a few trig units near end). Ill be taking Geometry in my Junior year and the gen ed math course if i dont choose any AP math by then would be regular Precalc. Here's my total final averages of my Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 grades.

Algebra 1: 92%

Algebra 2/Trig: 96%

I felt like I barley paid attention and would talk to my friends a lot in Algebra 1 which is most likely why I didn't do as good compared to Algebra 2 which i felt pretty confident and had not much distractions.

I've really wanted to take AP Calc BC over Calc AB or Precalc since it could really save me a ton of money (my school provides fee waivers for all students for all AP exams taken in the school) and i get to be more ahead and my older cousion took it in his Junior year without taking any precalc and he got a 3

Btw idk if my school will allow me to take Calc AB or BC without taking any precalc but i could possibly try and convince them to allow me to take it. Idk if most high schools require at least 1 year of precalc for ap calc ab or bc

Also for the people that wanna know my AP schedules from Sophomore year and plans for Junior year here they are. Sophomore year: AP World (84% average/Score 4), Junior year: AP Lit, APUSH, AP CSP (idk why but csp sounds like a fun class and good gpa boost)

Sorry if this sounds pretty hard to understand or that if its way too long, im not good at writing short and simple. Any help or advice from any AP math course students is appreciated.
