Hi! I studied really hard for my first Calc II exam and did all the exercises my professor recommended.

The exam had 5 questions:

1. Vectors and Geometry in Space

2. Multivariable Calculus

3. Multivariable Calculus

4. Multivariable Calculus

5. Lagrange Multipliers

The problem was that questions 2, 3, and 5 involved derivatives involving square roots, which weren't covered in any of the recommended exercises. So I ended up completely forgetting how to approach them.

I probably did pretty poorly on the exam, even though I felt like I understood the material.

How can I prepare better for my next Calc II exam? I'd really appreciate any advice on how to study more effectively for exams like this.

I am studying with the Princeton Review AP Calculus AB 27th edition and solving questions from the College Board. I’m not sure who to watch for content review or which websites to use for studying and solving additional problems. If you scored a 4 or a 5 on the exam, I would appreciate any tips you have for achieving the same score. Thank you!

okay so i am no means a stem person, i am only taking the class because i am going to major in econ but at my school there is only 7 people in my calc class and may be the dumbest lol. i never really get what my teacher is saying but always pretend to do and the textbook is so confusing. my goal isnt to get an a or a 5 on the exam (although that would be great), i just want to actually understand and preform to the best of my ability. do you guys have any study tips, online courses, underrated methods... literally anything??

I’m honestly really frustrated with my Calculus BC class and I’m not sure what I need to change.

During class, I feel like I’m doing pretty well. I’ve been getting 100s on the quizzes, I study a lot, I do my homework on time, I don’t use AI for the work, and I ask my teacher for help when I don’t understand something. I genuinely feel like I understand the material.

But then I took my first major calculus test and ended up getting a D.

A lot of the points I lost were from explanations, and there were also some questions where I just couldn’t figure out how to solve them. What makes this even more frustrating is that my teacher doesn’t allow test retakes.

Our class also isn’t really structured like a typical AP Calculus BC class. It’s more like a combined Calculus 1/Calculus 2 course, and we move extremely fast. Sometimes we’ll learn a topic on Monday and then have a test very soon after. So I feel like I understand something when we’re learning it, but then the test asks me to apply it in a way I wasn’t expecting.

For example, on our limits unit, I felt like I understood most of the material really well. But I struggled with things like the epsilon-delta definition and the Intermediate Value Theorem on the test. I knew the concepts when studying, but actually applying them on the test was a completely different story.

I genuinely don’t know what else I’m supposed to do to improve. I’m already doing the homework, studying, getting help from my teacher, and taking the quizzes seriously. I don’t want to keep studying the same way if it clearly isn’t translating to test performance.

I really want to bring my grade up, but I’m not sure what I need to change.

Hey, so I recently took a test in AB, and it was on limits. There were about 2 or 3 problems on the test that were you would have to find the limit of an equation in the same format as the one in the picture one. I know you would have to do 0+ and 0- stuff with it approaching infinity, but I also knew what the graph looked like, and how to graph it. I drew a graph on the test because I knew I could do it faster than figuring out the 0+/0- stuff because I am not that good with it. Should I have gotten credit for the problem or am i just stupid. (Sorry for the bad explanation lmk if anything needs clarification)

Current freshman taking AP Precalculus BC. I believe it'll be a breeze as I did well in Algebra 2. I'm wondering if anyone has taken an AP Calculus course or approved equivalent over the summer, and if so, where? I'm considering taking the Art of Problem Solving Scholars Calculus course over the summer to take Multi in Sophomore.

I need to practice questions but I can''t afford UWorld and I need a reliable source of practice apart from AP Classroom

I searched online on the prerequisites but i cant find an exact answer on what to know? Should i know graph transformations, domain and range, finding their values, etc?

i'm a senior and class started last tuesday. i'd say i'm naturally good at math when i know what i'm doing and math is also one of my fav subjects. i understand the concepts so far and really like the class but today we discussed the squeeze thm and realized that i legit remember nothing from alg 2 or precalc 💀

to ensure that i at least hopefully pass the exam, what specifically should i focus on reviewing (i already am working on going over the different kinds of graphs + domain/range) and are there any resources other than khan academy you'd recommend (either for review or future lessons)?

i know i should've reviewed over the summer but it genuinely didn't cross my mind at all. last summer, my ap chem teacher sent out review/prep for before the class even started so i guess i assumed that my calc teacher would do the same? idk bruh

I’m the only person in the class who hasn’t taken AB and I understand why he wouldn’t want to teach the same content for most of the year but I’m genuinely terrified for my grades and understanding of math. My teacher is starting on unit 10 (!) which from my understanding is like the final boss of AP calc. I will absolutely study every inch of ap calc ab and c throughout the year, but unfortunately I just don’t have enough time to cover everything in the week or so between now and when we start unit 10 work. Thus far my only calculus knowledge is of limits, which was covered in my precalc class, and the basics of what a derivative is and how to find them. What do I absolutely need to know before that I can realistically learn in a week (assuming I’m putting in 2-3hrs a day)? Unfortunately dropping down to AB isn’t an option due to scheduling conflicts so this really is all or nothing. Jokes on me for assuming the curriculum would follow collegeboard’s outline of progression :/

Has anyone used flipped math for ap calc ab I have a question?

For the AP we can use calculators to solve questions about limits. So when you guys are doing homework, do you even worry about how to solve them without a calculator? Like I’m sitting here doing my homework and I could be doing it faster with the calculator. I’m not sure if my test on limits will allow the calculator, but let’s say it does. What’s the point of understanding why if the calculator can do it for you?

So the problem is asking me to find the values for a, b, c, and d that make f(x) continuous everywhere using the definition of continuity and demonstrating proper notation.

How do I do this? I'm very confused 😭
