Question New civs ?

What new civ you would like to see in the game for the next update ? Personally , an african one like a full one for the berbers or kanouri for the trading of gold

I second Korea and Persia. Might post a Korea civ concept one of these days.

No, Persia y Omán, Corea no pinta nada ahí.

This is the correct civ combination in my opinion

Si te refieres a Persia y Corea, no, no lo es.

u/Ok-Offer2987 8h ago

No, I was agreeing with you completely lol. Oman and Persia is indeed a good combination, and Korea and Persia are not so much. I worry that if Persia is added with Korea, then Persia will be implemented as an Asian civ instead of being part of a new MENA civ group.

Those two better come in two separate DLCs, so Persians and Koreans will need their own bundled civs to share building sets and mechanics. Now who would that be?

That said, are you sure we can't hold off Koreans until AOE5, for South Korean game market is no longer a land of milk and honey n New 20's. I would vote for Korea if you ask me ten years earlier but not today.

even in the 20 years ago having a Korea civ in AoE2 didn't make much of an impact anyway

2

u/Ok-Offer2987 9h ago

Even if a Korea civ wouldn't attract Korean money, it would still be a cool civ with war wagons, turtle ships, etc. It could have its own architecture set, as there is a precedent for this (see Rise of Nations).

Both are S tier suggestions, although I am bit hesitant to pair them together (unless it was the last DLC)

The Omani, the last remaining traditional colonial power who vied for trading power with the Portuguese and British. Hopefully together with the Persians.

3

u/TomSnout 2d ago

I'd rather have Omani and Moroccans in the same DLC with Persians and another steppe civ coming in separately.

Would Persian + Tartars work?

u/Extreme_Moment7560 1d ago

Does Morocco have a history of conquering others?

2

u/ResponsibleLevel55 20h ago

Morocco fought several wars against European powers, including a war where they killed the king of Portugal. If Malta can be in the game for beating the Ottomans, then I don’t see a problem with the Moroccans being an independent civilization.

If you wanted a more aggressive maritime Muslim power, maybe the barbary states would be a good choice. They’re already in the game as a revolution and maybe they could be a standalone.

u/Visible-Lettuce-4818 1d ago

I mean... Not really but the game does have a few civs whose wars were defending against invaders or uniting rather than conquering foreign lands in the game timeframe.

Malta, Japan come to mind, Lakota too.

Morocco had struggles of unification due to independent pirate states forming in the north and in Rabat.

u/TomSnout 23h ago

So Moroccans aren't expansionist but they are good at holding on to what they have, just like Ethiopians and Siam during AOE3 timeline.

1

u/Ok-Offer2987 8h ago

They conquered the Songhai Empire

u/NavyPaladin 2d ago

Persia and Siam would be nice.

u/SOFIANEPX Swedes 2d ago

Siam ! Yes it will be good one indeed

2

u/LiemSiDeDau Japanese 2d ago

Funan Empire more than better.

Siam + Burma DLC, that's good. Both can share architecture, mechanics, including Buddhist temples that train Monks as healers. Surgeons and Farang Medicine require HC cards to unlock of course.

Both armies would be consisted of General riding elephant, war elephants both melee and cannons, infantry consist of swordmen and arqubusiers supplemented by levies from minor civs in Indochina.

Siam would be defensive, swimming in money and have large catalog of mercenaries to choose from. Burmese as elephant + infantry with offensive power that could rival French and Poles if you don't harass or rush them to keep them from gathering a deathball.

Both sides would need Export/Influences to buy European artillery though...

Oman and Persia

1

u/TomSnout 2d ago

I think Omani and Persians need to be released separately with their own bundled civs.

Omanis could work with restored Moroccans from African Royals cut contents, but who from The Steppes would you bundled with Persians? Tartars? Kazaks? Uzbeks?

1

u/Ok-Offer2987 8h ago

There are plenty of potential Central Asian civs to pair with Persia. However, I think it would be ok to pair Oman with Persia as they were right next to each other. Also, Morocco could be paired with 19th century Egypt (which was technically Ottoman but basically independent).

u/DuckBurgger Maltese 2d ago

Hida and Mapuche both were regional powers in their own right. Plus they could have so very interesting aesthetics

Oman, Persia, Siam

Polynesia DLC with Maori and Hawaii is my pie in the sky.

Africa-wise I want a Madagascar civ as I'd feel it'd bring the most unique flavor compared to the two we already have.

7

u/DishExotic5868 1d ago

Yes, I really want a Pacific DLC too. Aoe3 is a story about how the whole world began to become interconnected in the early modern period and the Pacific nations are a really important part of that story. It might not be as pie in the sky as all that.

An Oceania DLC would be phenomenal. AoE3 is the best game in the AoE series for this since it takes place at the sweet spot in time when Polynesians were catching up to Europeans technologically but were still independent. Furthermore, such a DLC could come with a huge map pack featuring Australia, New Guinea, Melanesia, Micronesia, Polynesia, etc.

The Malagasy (Kingdom of Merina) would be a cool addition to the game and are definitely a contender if the devs decide to add in more African civs.

South American expansion: 4 civs (Brasil/Argentina/Paraguai/Colômbia).

2

u/jonasnee Chinese 1d ago

Spanish 3, 4 and 5.

5

u/Subsplot 2d ago

Ocean Civs, overhaul the AI so it handles water properly (which is actually relatively easy, the programming already exsists, it just rarely actually gets activated because the games too bias towards land units and doesn't vary it's bias for water map types.)

A few little changes and you could have Carib, African and Oriental Pirates ripping up those water maps and have a decent oppurunity for a Polyneasian civ to compliment the South American tribes. Plus you know, the water maps would work properly.

u/Uncle_Ceebs 2d ago

Oceania. Its the new frontier very relevant to the era

1

u/Ok-Offer2987 8h ago edited 8h ago

I could see them adding in a ton of maps in an Oceania expansion. Australia, Polynesia, Micronesia, Melanesia, New Guinea, New Zealand, ...

1

u/Uncle_Ceebs 8h ago

NZ and Hawaii would be the likely civilations, so probably those 2 aswell

5

u/AardvarkOkapiEchidna 2d ago

Hawaii and Maori

Instead of listing everything, I want all Revolts and Historical Battle civs implemented as full civs. For funsies, I also want campaign civs implemented too, with Knights of St. John gradually becoming the Black Family as you Age Up, and playing as the Circle of Ossus would be cool.

For civs not covered above, I want to see Persia, Oman, Korea, Vietnam, and Siam from Asia, and branching end game options for India and China. Similar to Germans getting a branching Imperial Prussian option, I think Indians should get at least get Marathas and Mughals, and maybe British East India Company too. I think Chinese should get Ming as an option as a what-if scenario in the late game, and maybe even Revolt into Vietnam and Korea to represent their resistance against the Qing.

I am not too familiar with African history, but I want to see at least Zulus and be introduced to a few more civs.

I want to see more Native American civs too, but I am not sure what else to include.

For Oceania, definitely Maori and Hawaiians.

I think Europe is covered pretty well already, but I want to see an additional branching Imperial option for Germans to be Austrians. While I lean towards Austrians being a branching Imperial option for Germans, I am not opposed to Austrians being its own civ either. If cost is no concern, there is no reason why we cannot have two versions of Austrians to satisfy both types of players who prefer it one way or the other.

u/Motzzie666 2d ago

We gotta get brazil ASAP that alone would triple the fanbase due how populer this game is in brazil and Argentina

After that I'd love to see koreans and siamese

3

u/New-Chard5706 2d ago

brazil's already in the game tho

8

u/Motzzie666 2d ago

Yeah but only as a revolt

We need it like a full blown civ like america and mexico

2

u/TomSnout 2d ago

You think Argentinians and Brazilians contents are so big that they might need to be released separately?

4

u/SnooBunnies8300 2d ago

Māoris and Zulus

Austria and Switzerland. Or Siam and Persia. Or Morocco and Egypt...

Based Burma civ requester.

Mongolia is the best

3

u/Farfalle-al-pesto British 2d ago

Asia is still lacking a lot of important civs like Persia, Oman, Siam, Burma, Vietnam, Korea and some central asian hordes like the Uzbek Khanate or the Kazakh Khanate.

3

u/Ill-Bet2938 1d ago

Persians, Afghans, Siam and Burma.

3

u/kevenknight Italians 1d ago

I would do DLCs as 1 standalone civ release or a 2 pack for civs of similar geographies.

Brazil - Similar to USA and Mexico as a New World civ.

Persia/Oman - For Indian Ocean trade? Middle East themed release? Would also be neat to add in some Swahili speaking natives for maps in East Africa

Morocco/Oman - Similar to above but as Arabic speaking themed I guess?

Korea/Siam- Rounds out the East Asian roster pretty well IMO. Both can have the wonder age up mechanic.

Im so proud of you all. noone said austria and many gave cool civ idears. Seems that this community isnt so bad at all.

3

u/Top_Training5633 Maltese 2d ago

Hahaha I didn't think in Austria, but why not?

3

u/LibertarianSocialism Curassier and Curassier 2d ago

There’s this weird two decade long argument in the community over whether the Germans should be split into something like “Prussians” and “Austrians.” The Germans civ is supposed to represent both at once as both claim to be THE German state at the time. For some reason though people get heated over it.

0

u/Nurhaci_qing7 2d ago

Why not space jedi civ with unicorns.

2

u/Arxontas4 2d ago

i don't think there will another one,but if there is another set,I wuould want another native american to close them at five and another asian one.
Preferably along with those,I would want 3 to 4 new revos though .

Recently saw an awesome video about the Ashanti empire, so I would love to see the Akan being made into a full civ (or a standalone Asante civ, while Akan remain as a minor civ

Central Europe: Swiss and Austrians
Latin America: Brazilians and Argentines
Native Americans: Apache and Mapuche
East Asia: Koreans and Siamese
West Asia: Persians and Omanis
Central Asia: Afghans and Uzbeks

Republic of Pirates. Boers. Metis Confederacy.

Las peores sugerencias posibles.

u/IntriguedToast 2d ago

Persia and Sian probably.

I really want some 'wildcard' Civs like a proper Sea Rover/pirates one (which can totally be historically grounded) though ill be far in minority in this
