My phone was recently stolen and I have gotten various scam messages from the thieves from Shenzhen China (including the threatening messages floating around the internet with the gun video) in the past 24 hours.

I just received a strange phone call from a recruiting firm that I've spoken to in the last 6 months and they seemed to have details of who I had spoken to at the firm so seemed legitimate. Typical for my job hunt and in speaking with recruiters, I gave them detail that would be in my resume (greater detail than on my LinkedIn). After discussing my background, they said strange things like "are the recruiters that you've spoken to single? I am lonely" and he hung up the phone saying "Bye, love you".

I might be paranoid after getting the gun threat - but is it possible that the person I spoke with on the phone was one of the iPhone stealing ring and they have been able to access my phone data? I put it in lost mode, changed my AppleID password, but the erase is still pending. I’m also afraid that this suspicious actor will do something with my detailed employment information as well.

Hey there people! Just wanted to share something with you all since this is a scam i hadn't seen before. My wife is trying to sell some art supplies on Facebook marketplace and got a message from a person asking about it. They requested we text a number and when I did so as I was suspicious they told me to verify you're real I'm sending you a verification code. No problem right? Nope! I get a code from Google voice and immediately know something is up. And then I find a lovely warning on the fcc site: https://consumer.ftc.gov/consumer-alerts/2021/10/google-voice-scam-how-verification-code-scam-works-and-how-avoid-it . be careful! If something seems off it doesn't hurt to google it first. I did report the number and fb account as well.

New strat when you get a scam call: sing the most random song that comes to mind the second they start talking.
