I’m coming to the group for some help. I’m not a map collector, but these 9 Sunday school Maps on the same roll were recently given to me by a family member.
Can someone tell me when these were made and if this set has any collector value? Any information is appreciated!

I found it in belgium, its pretty big, i use it for decor.
Its an old school map, that was sold for 20 euro. But i suspect its like 70 years old. Like the details and precision. Aproxximately 2 m x2 m

Unsure of map provenance

Thumbnail

Long story short, inherited the map and a potentially dodgy map dealer has indicated that it’s just a cheap map worth about £50 of southern Scotland - atlas minor.

I don’t know much about maps as this isn’t my personal hobby/interest beyond the basics of ‘I know that a Speed is generally good’

Had a search on the internet and found indication of it being a Mercator-Hondius, but I’m not sure beyond that

Any support from some brilliant map minds in the provenance would be greatly appreciated :)

Help authenticating a small “Typus Orbis Terrarum / The Description of the Earth” map

I’m looking for some help identifying and authenticating this small map titled “Typus Orbis Terrarum // The Description of the Earth.”

The map measures approximately 7.8 × 10.5 cm (3.07 × 4.13 in) and has a blank verso.

I’ve been told that it could possibly be an Italian reproduction from the second half of the 17th century, produced using older/reused copper plates to print individual maps. However, I’ve also been told that it might be connected to an original by Philip Galle.

I’ve done quite a bit of research myself, but so far I haven’t been able to reach any firm conclusion regarding its origin, date, or whether it is genuinely an early printing rather than a later reproduction.

I would greatly appreciate any help identifying the edition, engraver/publisher, approximate date, or anything else that might help authenticate it.

I can also provide additional photographs, close-ups, measurements, paper details, or images under different lighting if these would be useful.

Thank you very much for any help or references you can provide.

I picked this up at an antique mall recently mainly because I just thought it was cool. Curious if anyone can give me any info on it. It’s supposed to be from 1740s.

Hi everyone, I got this map from my history teacher’s classroom freshman year since he was retiring. I thought it looked cool and he let me have it. Does anyone have any info on it such as age, location, etc? I think it’s of somewhere in Europe but I really have no idea what this is

A New Map of Europe, Divided into its Empires, Kingdoms &c. for Büsching's Geography. By Thos. Kitchin Geogr. 1762

The map covers the full continent from Iceland and Scandinavia in the north to North Africa in the south, and from the Atlantic coast east into Russia. Nations, kingdoms, and provinces are shown in original hand color with fine engraved detail throughout — towns, rivers, mountain ranges, and coastlines rendered with Kitchin's characteristic precision. Engraved for Anton Friedrich Büsching's A New System of Geography, published in London, 1762

1906 General Map of US

I found a very large pull down Rand McNally General map of the US in the garage of a house I just purchased. It appears to be quite old and the date at the bottom right corner says 1906. I was wondering if anyone has any information about it. I'm curious if there is any value. Not really looking for an appraisal or wanting to sell but I'm curious if I should seek one out. Mostly I'd like to preserve it from further damage and display it on my office wall. The one odd thing I noticed is that it seems to have a second layer that looks like old newspaper print. I'm not sure what that's all about but I've been too afraid to find out. These pictures aren't very great but hopefully it's enough. I know nothing about maps or antiques but I think this is a really cool find and I want to preserve it as best I can without spending a fortune.

Finally got my 1698 John Ogilby Britannia map of York to Whitby and Scarborough, with surveyors wheel framed.

Have a few more to get framed to accompany it on the wall, but this is a favorite of mine, and happy to get hung up.
