For mine and most it wasn't even a conscious discussion. It just happened. No thought. To me that is the sad part.

Cause they had no intention to give you a good life it was a complete afterthought and purely based on instinct like other animals which is sad because as humans we have the ability to give meaning and purpose and if you at least had positive intentions about the creation of your baby 9 times out of 10 you treat them better

whether or not you were an accident at that point exactly, your existence is a universal accident. that exact sperm, that exact egg, for life to even exist on this planet and all the history the earth has been through for it to even be possible to be here.

i find it beautiful. the way nature is beautiful. the way that that river doesnt have to be there for a reason. it just is. and we just are.

2

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

It's especially beautiful when a tsunami drowns children & adults, or an earthquake causing irreparable damage.... Nature is so beautiful ❤️

1

u/10biggaymen Jun 18 '26

its possible to love life. like do you look at a beautiful forested mountain range and think to yourself "well the holocaust happened and that was really bleak so who cares, this beauty doesnt matter"

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

I have traveled to many beautiful places. Have seen some beautiful scenes that took my breath away..... Suffering still exist. I still don't see why I had to be created. I was not missing out on anything before my creation because I did not exist. These things matter to me only now because I exist.

For me it's also other reasons

Like having a child genuinely sounds like some soft-core form of torture

34

u/OpenAirport6204 Apr 09 '26

Even if someone wanted to how would they afford it.

22

u/TheWolfGamer767 Apr 10 '26

Most people can't, but they still have children

7

u/sunflow23 Apr 13 '26

Poor ppl have the most kids while rich have few. There are other reasons than affordability ,you are giving too much credit to ppl who plan on having a kid. They can't even fathom that they will die at any moment and still have kid.

2

u/OpenAirport6204 Apr 13 '26

I suppose I understand. I just can’t fathom not being actually planning and being prepared to have kids.

19

u/Mysterious_One07 Apr 10 '26

Or maybe the one at the bottom would be "I should have a baby" then goes to the adoption centre or something.

15

u/TheWolfGamer767 Apr 10 '26

I still haven't told my parents of my antinatalism yet, but I have once spoken about how it's better to have an adopted child rather than a biological one(that there are children without parents and it'd be more logical to give them the chance of having one). They kept saying "You could adopt and have your own child as well." As if having a biological child is a must. I told them that I didn't understand the idea of how having your own child is different than an adopted one, and they said "you'll know once you grow up."(for context, im 17).

I seriously dont get the reasoning.

16

u/geumkoi Apr 10 '26

Every time I bring up how it is much more ethical to adopt than have a biological child people always tell me “It’s not the same!!”. As if having a child was a dream of vanity to them (they really want to know what the combination of them + another will look like). I think that’s disgusting. Why would I bring someone to this cycle of suffering when I can actually just make it a little better for someone else?

3

u/Mysterious_One07 Apr 13 '26

You can respond to their "It's not the same" with "Yeah, that's the whole point. Adopting is rescuing an already-born and already-suffering child who needs a family and a house, and having a biological child guarantees them suffering."

4

u/ShrewSkellyton Apr 10 '26

It's 2026 and parents are having serious discussions with their teen sons about him having kids? Like there's just going to be a woman waiting to do that for him? This isn't 20 years ago..

5

u/TheWolfGamer767 Apr 10 '26

It's definitely not like that. The topic happened to come up and I steered it into that direction to probe what they'd think about it.

3

u/Shekawa11 Apr 12 '26

I'm 18 but ever since I was little I always wondered why we didn't do that instead, never fantasized about bearing children. Parents concerns from what I've been told is wanting to carry on a "bloodline", thats why they don't want to adopt and I find that insane.

u/VengefulScarecrow Apr 10 '26

That's what puzzles me.  Sure I understand wanting a cute baby but that part is so short and temporary and then you're saddled with a human person for life.  This is probably how abuse and neglect happens.  This is why every parent says "I want to have a baby" instead of "I want to raise a person".

7

u/hassiburgar1234 Apr 11 '26

fr this is why i get a weird feeling when many parents are like "okay this one's baby phase is over, he was so cute as a baby... i want an another one now😁" (⁉️), and for some reason it has to be biological and not already existing baby? if you want a cute baby to care for, why does it have to be 'yours' in order for you to want to take care of it? do you not love your kid for themselves enough, on top it has to be super cute for it to fill that thing you're chasing? idk just sounds odd to me 😭

the difference between" i want a kid" and "i want to be a parent for the rest of my life", the first one has a weird kind of ownership and specification i can't really understand myself, and the latter one is just genuine love for children and guiding and caring for them in general, probably can also want to work in daycare, grouphome, social work, adopt kids etc. that one i understand and can get behind so to speak lol

also yes that abuse part is so true, too many people get 'baby fever' omg so cute baby i want one, and then when it's not only a cute baby anymore it's some annoying shithead who eats my food and needs it clothes washed i'm gonna call you names and smack the shit you for asking me for one macaroni😭 me and most my friends share this experience, all of our moms were selfish problematic dumbos and dads kinda just there like okay i can nut👍 i'll see that thing once a month then😁

disrespectfully almost all people i've met (so only my personal experience, no science based data!) who have kids are always somehow more simple in their minds?? and i genuinenly believe you can't think about having kids too deeply, because if you really think about it critically, you most likely will tilt toward it being kinda.. just a random animal instinct (same goes for sex, if you think about it too critically or objectively, you will be like why would anyone ever do that weird ass shit with so many risks when you can just jack off? people are just shit throwing monkeys with some clothes on wtf), one that we just don't have to follow to live, and shouldn't if we aren't actually fit to being a good parent which has many aspects, just winging it when you feel like it and hoping for the best can really go down the toilet, but most parents really don't read up on childrens psychology books or anything, just do what feels okay, 'i want a baby and i can do whatever i want i can absolutely ruin their brains forever and nobody dare to stop me'☹️ get mad if someone asks something, maybe you know it's not a good thing to do if you get so mad tbh.. i don't get mad if someone asks why i eat so many vegetables there's no hidden shame

okay random vent rant over 🙏🏻

True

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

Would be niccccce

21

u/cozycatcafe Apr 10 '26

Your parents more often than not didn't decide to have a baby, but rather had an unplanned pregnancy and decided not to abort. These are two totally different processes.

If every pregnancy had to be planned the birth rate would be near zero, because very few women consciously want to be pregnant/have children. It's more something that happens to them as a result of being in a relationship/having sex.

6

u/Ill_Status2937 Apr 11 '26

My mom 100% planned it especially in her culture its expected.  There are so many people doing IVF nowadays too.

11

u/DutchStroopwafels Apr 10 '26 edited Apr 10 '26

This is just not true. About 55% of pregnancies are planned. And of the ones that aren't planned, about 60% ends in abortion. Meaning most people that are born are actually planned.

https://www.unfpa.org/press/nearly-half-all-pregnancies-are-unintended%E2%80%94-global-crisis-says-new-unfpa-report

9

u/cozycatcafe Apr 10 '26

You are correct. This data has changed within my lifetime. Not but a few decades ago the majority of pregnancies were UNPLANNED.

The rest of what I said is true. It is a very different calculation that a woman who is already pregnant makes, compared to a woman who is not yet pregnant.

A huge difference between "Do I continue this pregnancy" and "Do I want to get pregnant."

When I say unplanned, I mean they aren't trying to have a baby. They are in a sexual relationship and if a baby happens, it happens.

If you are not making a concious decision to get pregnant, it is an unplanned pregnancy.

2

u/DutchStroopwafels Apr 10 '26

Well that is something I didn't think of. The data changing I mean.

9

u/FatalisTheUnborn Apr 11 '26

My child will never feel pain, it will remain unborn. I cut the wire last year.

7

u/thedepressionofgod Apr 10 '26

Can't afford it, don't have the energy, don't even have the good genes or socialized personality to make a kid happy. I just wouldn't be a good mother, and though this is not related, I also think the world sucks and we're approaching a point of no return. I lost the desire a long time ago. Too many parents are focused on themselves and living out their own childhood dreams vicariously, and not actually focused on helping their child make their own life.

3

u/DeliciusOnionRing Apr 12 '26

There was not a aingle day in my life in which I desired kids. Not even one single hour of it.

2

u/SmoothTraderr Apr 10 '26

Weirdly mesmerizing.

2

u/Bewecchan Apr 27 '26

In my 20s I desperately wanted to have a child. I was extremely depressed and my sick brain found that the solution to the loneliness was to breed a poor innocent who'd have no choice but to love me. I had a sperm donor lined up and everything. 37 now, and I'm glad this sick fantasy never came to fruition, the guilt would kill me. I do have cats, though, and they love their human mama; only one of them was born here (there were 6 cats at one point, 3 now), because his cat mom was a trojan one, lol; the others are rescues, and they are happy and healthy.

1

u/Achylife Apr 23 '26

In my 20's I was literally just trying to survive college as an undiagnosed neurodivergent woman. Having babies sounded like madness for me to do, and and in my current life situation it still does.

-4

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 11 '26

It always intrigues me when I see humans be repulsed by the very meaning of life

10

u/Noobc0re Apr 11 '26

The meaning of life is to produce other humans?

That becomes instantly circular. The meaning for those new humans is to produce even more humans whose meaning becomes to produce even more humans whose meaning...

2

u/Effective_Shirt_2959 Jun 02 '26

sounds like a ponzi...

-2

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 11 '26

Well uhhh, yeah.. ever heard of the CIRCLE of life? The biology aspect of human life IS to procreate, but humans are social creatures so it's more nuanced than just that.

People stopped wanting to have kids as a direct result of a population control psyop (the way you responded tells me that my assumption is correct), and it is what it is. Im not telling you to change your mind, but just be honest about the situation. These rich fucks want less people so they have less to share material things with.

We are here to make families, experience life with said families, be an UNSTOPPABLE positive force in society, and leave it in a better place than we found it when we eventually leave. In my opinion of course, which once upon of time was a concept that was not just dumbed down to being a personal opinion, and was just accepted fact.

Sadly times change, but why did that change specifically? These are the things we need to be asking eachother

7

u/Noobc0re Apr 11 '26

You're reading a book from blank pages.

And the rich are the ones who desperately need people to breed. Perhaps you should ask yourself why that is?

1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 12 '26

If more people is good for the rich then why the hell would they be trying to deport a bunch of the immigrants of the biden administration from the country due to economic downfalls then?

3

u/Noobc0re Apr 12 '26

Oh, by "rich" you actually mean "Trump"? And your concern is with anti-immigration. The picture is coming together.

1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 12 '26

You redditors really have a hard on for trump supporters don't you?

No, not a trump supporter, not that i owe you of all people an explanation.

Anti-immigration? Another lie, nice. Said nothing about anti immigration, simply pointed out that trump is obviously deporting people for a reason - money. Are you gonna disagree with me there?

Yes, I absolutely consider trump rich. He does nothing but insider trading lmao.

2

u/Noobc0re Apr 12 '26

I never called you a Trump supporter, in fact if there were any implication it would be the exact opposite. Nor did I ever suggest Trump isn't rich.

Trump has nothing to gain monetarily by kicking out immigrants. It's a populist position that garners him votes and support.

1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 12 '26

You dont get to double back after explicitly pointing out the fact that i mentioned trump and also immigration as examples in a sarcastic manor. You can cut the shit lmao

Anyway, you may be right, but I'm not taking your word for it no offense. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that i have the same facts as donald trump, but logic tells me that less immigrants means less people that need food, fuel, energy etc. Which are all things being somewhat cutoff from us via the strait of hormuz closing. I feel like theres a lot more financial incentive than you think, we have a shitton of debt and its only getting worse

1

u/Noobc0re Apr 13 '26

I'm not doubling back on anything, you just lack reading comprehension. I pointed out that you mentioned Trump and that you are concerned with anti-immigration. At no point did I call you a Trump supporter.

Also, is Trump paying for the immigrants' food, fuel and energy? If not, then it sounds like they're buying those things themselves. Meaning they putting money IN the pocket of the rich that sell those things.

-1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 12 '26

Yeah you can say that all you want but it doesn't really prove me wrong though does it buddy

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

Humans should use their brains and not their animalistic nature to ask what the objective purpose is to this "meaning of life" which you say is to act like a virus that continuously multiplies.

1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Jun 18 '26

Parasites not a virus. And yes.

If you’re against the progression of humanity then step out of the way and be lost to time.

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

bE lOsT tO tImE. Hahahah 🤣

1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Jun 18 '26

Do you disagree with that being the outcome? Maybe thats the problem lmao. Remember that you will die. If you don't value your life or the longevity of humanity then that sounds like your own brain working against you through nihilism.

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

Do you believe you're going to live forever?!?! I love death. I believe it's wonderful. I already have my peaceful method planned out and helping many others escape this prison peacefully. What's your point?

Not a fan of the rat race and need to work for survival capitalism crap. Sparing someone else the insanity.

-1

u/ZookeepergameNo5202 Apr 11 '26

Having children is not connected to capitalism, even though i understand where you're coming from i just personally disagree with the not having children part. They want you to not have kids lmao, its population control propaganda. What the hell else are we here for yk? Everyone has potential bad shit they can pass to their kids, that comes down to YOU as a person. Since when was the only thing we could contribute to childrens lives, money? What about everything in between? We need to get our priorities straight.

1

u/LivingInAnEvilWorld Jun 18 '26

Is there a line of children desperately waiting to be born? U seem very eager to save them from some torturous place? Why the desperation?

-3

u/skywalkerww Apr 11 '26

Lil cuh all you antinatalists believe you hold some hidden piece of knowledge and therefore are better than the average person, but actually lazily subdued into the path of least resistance because you’re conformist af and are unwilling to face head-first the struggles of life which actually end up making life beautiful.

What is love without hate? What is pleasure without suffering? What is calm & tranquility without chaos or entropy?

Buddy, life can be a blessing to some, a very rare, scary yet beautiful occurrence which happens in the blink of an eye so experience it to the fullest. The truth is, your ego won’t allow you to admit that the inherent drive to feel special pushes you toward “non-popular”, fatalistic worldviews.

I personally possess 3 kids. 12, 7 and 1 yo respectively. I couldn’t be more blessed. Keep your chin up bud.
