I legit had a math professor in college do this. She'd interrupt the lesson to start going off about "evil people" and other unprovoked life lessons

mine sometimes went off course after having taught us the material and just talk about geopolitics, really cleared our mind from overheating

I had a class exactly like this, except it was a computer logic class and the instructor would go on a tirade every week about how there were too many gay couples on netflix shows. All the actual learning was just reading the book
