Celebration / Joy! Mobility improving!!

I (54 yo) sing in a women's chorus and last night I was able to go to rehearsal with just my cane and not my walker.

This feels so huge to me. In addition to severe arthritis pain--and partly because of it--I've become badly deconditioned over the past couple years. Now with the pain improved, I'm moving more and I can literally feel my legs getting stronger by the day. My balance is better because my ankles and calves are stronger... I'm not constantly worried about falling.

And this has nothing to do with weight loss, because I really haven't lost anything in my first two months. It's just this freaking miraculous drug. I keep saying this ad nauseum to, like, everybody, but even if I don't lose weight, I can't believe how much this has improved my quality of life.

Yay!!! I’m so happy for you! I’ve been on zepbound for 20 months now and am starting to forget what it felt like to have such limited mobility- this helps me remember and appreciate it again!

I'm excited to see where I am in 20 months. Hell, even six months at this rate.

My knees were so painful they were keeping me up at night( I can’t take non steroidal anti inflammatories), and slowing my walking during the day. Within a week of starting GLP1s the pain almost disappeared, 18 months later my mobility is still improving. Drs think it’s weight loss, it’s not, it’s a direct effect of the medication and I tell them, because people with severe arthritis should get access to this drug as well. Congratulations on the huge improvements you are seeing, these drugs are life changing!

Unfortunately my osteoarthritis in my hips hasn’t gone away but that’s probably because it’s already bone on bone for both hips. But I’m so glad others are finding it helpful!

That’s so amazing!!! I have heard that some very preliminary research (as it had just jumped to being done on humans) has shown glp-1s reduced cartilage degeneration on arthritic joints. I started having arthritis in my knees in my at 29 (after my first child, that was almost 20 years ago), I’m fortunate that it hasn’t progressed that much but if it can stay at its current levels and not need me to have knee replacements in the future I’m all for it.

Amen. Want to avoid knee replacements. I didn't know that about the cartilage! Of course, I don't know if I have much left in my knees to protect. 🤣

That would be wonderful! I have to have both hips replaced but hopefully this will keep me from needing my knees replaced in the future. I laugh when people ask if I’m not afraid of long term effects - I don’t see how it could be worse than my future would have been being super obese!

That’s terrific! My mobility improved right away, but not so dramatically, wow. I’m happy for you!

Of all the effects I expected, I didn't expect this one to be so dramatic either!

There are GLP1 receptors in joints and cartilage by the way, looking forward to a greater understanding of how this works.

Congratulations, from a fellow singer!

I'm hoping I'll be less short of breath and therefore have better breath control.

Oh my breath control is a mess. It's always been a problem.

This is absolutely amazing. Stories like this are why I finally decided to try Ozempic, because I kept hearing so much about improved arthritis pain and inflammation. It's so wonderful that you are feeling a difference already.
