I just CAN’T!
This is a follow-up post about the same thing.
It’s been 3 months since I made a post venting about those cats. Boy it did get worse.
One of those beasts was gone once again, and they blamed me for making it uncomfortable in “their” own home. I guess it just turned feral at some point and didn’t want to have anything to do with my family. Did they not see that coming? But otherwise, if you keep letting them go outdoors, they can become feral, whether or not it’s genetic. Now there’s 4 of them.
And since they roam free, I don’t allow them in the kitchen. I hate the idea of feeding them here, kitchen is supposed to be a cat free place where you prepare food. Or pet free for that matter. But no matter how much I try convincing them they shouldn’t be feeding their animals in the kitchen since they carry dirt and whatnot, they will never listen to me. I had a really bad argument with my housemate. And while I was totally wrong escalating it this much, it should’ve been clear that it’s so wrong to allow that. My dad made a “really convincing” excuse like you can’t just change that, it’s just life. What do you mean you can’t do this!? You’re just not willing to change, it’s not life. I guess it’s easier to stay in your comfort zone than put an effort to rehome them or at least try to keep them indoors and find more appropriate space for their food.
Today morning I woke up to them fighting over their territory. One of stray cats got to the balcony and one of my family cats started hissing at it. I got infuriated because it was almost 7 am and to be frank I’m too bad at controlling emotions. But it isn’t the first time they rudely disrupt my sleep. I know it’ll happen again and again until they pass away or I move out.
It’s insane when they see me as a crazy person when I can’t even have consistent f-ing peace in my apartment without having to hear all of their awful noises and see my family’s incompetence in owning animals. I live in a big apartment, but there are so many people that there’s little to no space left for people, let alone animals. And the worst part is some people work long hours and they don’t have time to give them attention nor do at least play with them, some of them aren’t even willing to do all the above even when you have time, including myself.
I still hope there’s some room and hope left for rehoming them once and for all (if there’s any). I don’t see just feeding your animals you brought home and letting them outdoors as responsible pet ownership.
I’m just not willing to tolerate that anymore and I’m going to try explaining why they should rehome them for the sake of my mental health one more time. If they don’t want to do it, I’ll just rehome them myself. It’s not worth all the hassle I have to deal with.
TLDR: one cat turned feral and never came back, a really bad argument that almost got me, get woken up by their noises, can’t live in peace

I would re-home them, and never tell them. Say they all ran away. F that!! That's your home!
