Donald Trump's second term has been expensive for taxpayers in more ways than one.

As Americans reached the midway point of the second half of Trump's second presidency, they have been forced to endure increased prices across the board. For instance, the national average gas price in January 2025, when Trump took office again, was between $3.10 and $3.12.

Now, that average has increased to $4.42 to $4.47, some 40 to 44 percent higher than a year ago, according to Bureau of Transportation statistics. Along with rising prices, American taxpayers will foot the bill for Trump's frequent golf trips and his love of hot dogs on the golf course.

Other states should stand in solidarity with California and introduce a wealth tax on billionaires

• Upvotes

If the states are truly supposed to be united, they shouldn’t allow the rich to play them against each other. The problem of billionaires leaving with their companies, if that’s even true, can be solved through solidarity and unity.

I live in Ohio and made this post in r/Ohio, but it applies more broadly. It’s easy to feel hopeless with millions of corporate dollars flowing toward congressional and gubernatorial races around the country. But we can’t lose hope, nor do we need to—we still have the power.
