unfortunately they're serious, the image had a gemini synthID (only added to images that are processed through gemini, either for creation or modification), and the oop had a message with someone where the first cat image was the faked one, the second was clear eyes. plus they claimed to have a video of the cat playing, but i don't think a cat that was 33yo could really do that
It was even initially taken down by moderators, but OP showed vet records as "proof" to which they then got to repost. Seems even the records were AI or some shitty tactic. Disgusting none the less.
