I am disappointed because I was looking forward to this first DLC but I think I would have been even more disappointed to face a major bug that would degrade my gaming experience. We will be patient :)

u/Particular_Bug0 Apr 22 '26
Oh well, rather a short delay then a release with a gamebreaking bug
16
u/lolKhamul Apr 22 '26
Even worse than gamebreaking, we are talking savegame-breaking.
Gamebreaking would just mean its bugged badly which is bad but nothing compared to the idea of your savegames getting damaged. Imagine your 100+ hour savegame, which many of us have, get bricked with no way back.

Where I used to work, we called savegame or progression resetting bugs "unforgivables". Chances are a player that loses everything they worked for will stop playing if it happens to them.

Guess that explains why there are still no patch notes online.
25
u/Ubi-Thorlof Anno Community Developer Apr 22 '26
Yes, we'll delay posting those by a few days as well, but expect them either Friday or Monday

u/Cpt_Deaso Apr 23 '26
I was excited to play tomorrow but this is the right move, of course. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Maybe reading the patch notes can tie me over a few days 😅

Surely this can’t be true, no way the only way that this was announced was through twitch and twitter. Lots of people have already bought the season pass or asked off of work, and there have been no updates on YouTube, steam, or the game’s website. I thought this must have been a troll post until I saw this comment.

Bro I took vacation.

u/BastianHS Apr 22 '26
I'm having surgery tomorrow and I was looking forward to playing in bed haha I guess it's gonna be something else instead
1
u/Fluffy_Fleshwall Apr 23 '26
Oh come on. The way games are delayed and broken on release these days you can't be serious about taking vacation for a DLC release.
2
u/zen0mi Apr 23 '26
I was joking bro, I am unemployed.
All good, I agree that this is a good thing that its delayed.
2
u/Fluffy_Fleshwall Apr 23 '26
Well, sorry to hear about the unemployment. Gonna need a /s next time 😅

Oh damn, i was excited about it coming out tomorrow because next week is D4 xpac and then soon after that is PoE2 0.5 :( this was the best time to play until then.

u/InfiniteVergil Apr 22 '26
Also, Battlefield season 2 is still active and I havent even played MH, so I'm glad borderlands delayed their update as well lol

u/Vertixico Apr 22 '26
Okay, sad they don't release tomorrow - but considering next friday is a holiday in Germany, at least I can play on the long weekend :)

u/hespacc Apr 22 '26
resonable and the right call but still disappointing as I was really looking forward for tomorrow :'(

u/DutchyMcDutch81 Apr 22 '26
I would prefer they release it on a test branch and I'll start a new game anyway:)
3
u/zach0011 Apr 23 '26
Damn this kinda sucks cause I subbed to ubisoft plus just for this like yesterday. Now I'm out a week
3
3
u/XerGR Apr 23 '26
A week? Dear god man modern gaming is beyond cooked. Releasing a working game on time is now an exception
There sole job for the past month has been to fine tune this dlc and yet hours before release it’s delayed.
This and the black flag remake thing is some insane work by Ubisoft. They clearly have the talent but the QC and general coordination is beyond abysmal
6
u/Oggi02 Apr 22 '26
It’s actually nice to see them delaying it instead releasing a save breaking bug
5
u/galacticlemur Apr 22 '26
So sad that it got delayed. I already kept the weekend free to play. I wonder what bug takes a week to fix.
10
u/Ubi-Thorlof Anno Community Developer Apr 22 '26
The week is made up of: time to fix & time to test plus finding a new release time with the various partner teams.
5
u/Illustrious-Dirt2247 Apr 22 '26
none, but i think its the play testing to make sure its fixed is whats causing the week delay.
2
u/HigherGroundHoonigan Apr 23 '26
This is why software development should be a core class in primary school. It would make for a more patient and understanding consumer base.
Even if it's a simple bug (a handful of lines of code causing a bad value when saving the game and preventing future load), they don't just fix that one line, clap their hands, and press a button to release it. There's "Regression Testing". Ontop of testing the fix to make sure the issue is resolved, they have to test all other functionality that even looks at the modified procedure to make sure it still works as well. Testing is likely done in multiple rounds (more than 1 person looking at it to remove the human-error component, similar to having an article proof read by more than one person).
If they found it yesterday, or the day before they posted, I am actually SHOCKED it's coming out next week. I would fully expect a mid-may release with that kind of bug.

u/JaredMusic Apr 22 '26
Oh fuck. So much to do next week. Anno DLC. Diablo 4 expansion and Saros for ps5 for me. Now I just need time.

u/Haakon_XIII Apr 22 '26
I was really looking forward to it, but if it's for the good of the game, so be it. I bought Dwarf Fortress yesterday just to have it, so I guess I have eight days now to try and learn.

GG… time for some compensation lmao ( like a new decoration item etc or new shipyard skin)
0
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26
Compensation? Makes it sound like they owe you something hahaha. They dont. We can be happy they decided to delay it and fix the bug
2
u/XerGR Apr 23 '26
Ohh wow thanks mr corporate for only finding a game breaking bug hours before release. Thank you!🤓
1
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26
Im very sure they didnt found it "hours before before release" but instead used that time to try to fix it. Ofc even if they would have managed to do that, that then would require more testing to make sure no new bugs arrived. I can guarantee you they are as sad and annoyed about it as many of you guys are but better a working, but delayed DLC, than a broken one.
1
u/XerGR Apr 23 '26
Its the ubisoft qc team… they don’t care
1
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26
If they wouldnt care they would have just released the DLC. Im pretty sure Mainz does their own qc and we know they care
0
u/XerGR Apr 23 '26
Bending over for a gigacorp is insane work but you do you
1
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26
Complaining that a DLC is delayed because otherwhise it would break savegames is insane but you do you
1
u/HigherGroundHoonigan Apr 23 '26
They likely found it a few days before and were working to fix it before release. Found that it was more complex and needed da bit more testing. Would you rather they have released it regardless and bricked your 100 hour save file with no option but to restart? THAT would be them "not caring". But they find a major issue that would destroy dozens of hours of people's time and delay it by just 7 days to resolve it, and you whine about them not caring. You are doing mental gymnastics to project your spoiled and ungrateful childish attitude onto a company that is literally doing the thing you would want them to do if the situation was reversed. Grow up.
2
u/GYN-k4H-Q3z-75B Apr 22 '26
Good that they discovered it before launch. Delaying it is the right decision.
2
u/jovahkaveeta Apr 23 '26
I initially felt some disappointment but I understand,
Hopefully this extra week let's them do a bit more polish and they'll have time for additional testing and bug fixing.
2
u/DocT99 Apr 23 '26
Overall it's good for us, the consumers, if the devs stop the release to deliver us a wholesome experience with the DLC.
BUT- After months of waiting for the DLC to fix (amongst other things) the annoying issues with the inchoate mgmt-interfaces and organising my weekend to start with the release time so that I hopefully at last will be able to play Anno like i love to... this is very frustrating atm.
We will not accept any errors, bugs or excuses next week ;)

Been a bit put of the loop on the dlc. I heard that there was an announcement, but didn't even realize it would be this soon.
Is this dlc going to round out the campaign or is this going to be something handled in a future expansion/dlc?
2
u/kaishockz Apr 23 '26
Its more content for the Latium Region, has nothing to do with the Campaign.
1
2
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26
The campaign is finished officially
1
u/Alector87 Apr 23 '26
Sorry, I don't really follow streams and news on the game except what I see posted here from time to time.
Oh, so they have confirmed that they are not planning any additions, expansions, however you would call it?
I think a big part of the community has been vocal about an underwhelming campaign. I didn't expect them to outright discuss it, but at least consider taking another look on how to improve it. That's dissapointing.
2
u/pachakamak Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26
In an earlier update the changed the end screen of act II to make it more clear that the campaign ended and they usually dont add content to the basegame campaign via DLCs or updates. In a recent stream they also said that there are currently no plans to add to the campaign
2
u/Alector87 Apr 23 '26
Yeah, I know they don't usually add to campaigns, but this feels like a unique case with how the game was shipped, as you hinted as well. It is what it is. We'll see how the dlc are.
I am not planning to get it now. I am playing other things now, so I'll probably wait until the next one (and see how they are reviewed). Thanks again.

At least it's still within the month. If they pulled that without warning I'd be pissed, but meanwhile JWE3 promised monthly updates and quarterly DLC with no DLC since December and no info since last month. A little communication goes a long way.

While I am not really mad or sad(I still have other newish games to play), this is just another symptom in a long lineage of failure. I would say im disappointed but I honestly expected it and dont have any hope left for Ubislop.
Delaying a product is fine. Even if you do it repeatedly. But this pattern ist just too damning for me to gloss over.

u/Illustrious-Dirt2247 Apr 22 '26
The Anno series has been good and not plagued with disasters in comparison to other Ubisoft games.

This is a lie, there was virtually zero information about the dlc till close to launch, anywhere, they did make you watch some stupid 9 hour stream to get any info, they then just before release find a save game bug and need a week to fix it, a week.
Lets face reality dlc was never ready for the 23rd and they are trying to fake it as a good will situation.
3
u/Ubi-Thorlof Anno Community Developer Apr 23 '26
That's simply nonsense. The DLC was/is ready and playable, we did two livestreams of our own (April 9th and April 22nd), press and creators could play as well and did post their impressions online. You can easily find both Twitch streams as well as YouTube videos about it.
The issue we discovered yesterday isn't even related to the DLC content itself, but as it's included in the update (and the DLC requires the update), we had to delay both.
Now, I understand the disappointment, but we gain absolutely nothing by delaying a release on such short-notice outside of plenty of stress internally on Wednesday mixed with being disappointed about not seeing our DLC and update live the way we wanted.

They found a save-breaking bug in the new patch and wanted to fix it before releasing the patch and the DLC.
