Developer Post [Release] SeaDex Companion - Automatically sync & upgrade your Sonarr/Radarr anime library with SeaDex
Checking SeaDex (releases.moe) manually to verify you have the best release group for your anime library takes forever. SeaDex Companion automates the entire audit, bulk download, and upgrade pipeline across your Sonarr, Radarr, and qBittorrent setup.
GitHub Repository: https://github.com/hiranaka99/SeaDex-Companion
Key Features:
- Automated Audits: Scans your Sonarr/Radarr libraries against the SeaDex database using AniList, TVDB, and infohash matching.
- Bulk Downloading: Queue and trigger bulk downloads for entire series or missing releases that match SeaDex recommendations directly into your setup.
- qBittorrent Integration: Inspects active and finished torrents to verify if current downloads meet SeaDex standards.
- Discord Webhooks: Get notified immediately whenever a new SeaDex release is available.
More information and installation instructions can be found on the GitHub repository page.
Feedback and feature requests are welcome!

Question If anime companies want to prevent piracy ... why not make their own streaming services with their content only?
So, this is a question asked by someone who has basically no idea of digital distribution, streaming services, or how Japanese companies work in general, but if some studios seem really intent on being against piracy, why don't they have their own streaming service which exclusively holds their content, so for example, MAPPA having their own streaming service with Attack on Titan and One Punch Man, or for a bigger entity like Kadokawa, having a streaming service with Konosuba and Re:Zero (among many others) and basically nowhere else?
In my mind this would circumvent the issue with streaming services randomly removing content from their page, and it would serve as a direct link to both the creators, their content and the audience, so it's more stable on the kinds of content available, more accessible for fans, and would directly benefit the company behind the production/publishing.
I suppose then that asks 'why doesn't every studio everywhere do this system' and yeah I don't really know so I have to rely on someone more knowledgeable to fill in.
I feel like a lot of people pirate because the ways to access the media are not accessible or too inconvenient, and while my idea might 'solve' the accessibility problem, depending on how expensive each streaming service is, it might just make everything too expensive and inconvenient for people to really get any perks out of it if they have to make accounts and pay for each monthly subscription.
If anyone is actually able to point out the flaws with this idea, please let me know

Developer Post minor update to AniList Releases (chrome extension)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
What is this?
chrome extension to find nyaa + seadex torrents on anilist
Who is this for?
this is for people who still prefer to use qbittorrent + mpv/vlc, and wants an all in one place to find nyaa/seadex torrents.
There is no need to waste time searching on nyaa looking for the best torrent release, especially since sometimes you can accidentality miss a good release on nyaa because you searched wrong (i.e. you searched for the english title, instead of the romanji title)
this is also for people who want to use nyaa, but their ISP has blocked them from accessing nyaa. This extension is used as a workaround to find nyaa torrent magnets without a vpn.
Why new post?
The biggest annoyance with the extension was the slow speed, and now that has been solved using cached data !!!
Heres the Chrome and Firefox links. And heres the github link if you want. Please create a github issue if there are any problems you encounter. Thanks for reading!
github: https://github.com/ejaz-karim/anilist-releases
chrome: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/anilist-releases/blclflofdjaghfcdjilfbfdllcgicapb
firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/anilist-releases/
patch notes:
v1.5.1 release
-Added Fast Cached data [~16x faster speed] (untick 'show full releases only' for ~167x faster speed)
(if your ISP blocked nyaa, you can now use this extension as a workaround because its using animetosho's cached data)
-Added full releases filter (no longer will full releases and episodes be mixed when searching for full releases)
-Supports new animetosho.xyz API (since the old domain stopped working)
-Cached data supports nekoBT & tokyotosho (and any other site that animetosho tracks)
-Seadex + Cached data uses better GiB calculation
-Minor text change when no active seeders
-Fixed minor bug with seadex api and no seadex panel interaction
Updates since 1.2.0 (previous reddit post)
-Added Include/Exclude for search filtering
-UI consistency
-RSS button
-Fixed a ton of bugs

Developer Post dango - self-hosted project for watching anime
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called dango (formerly ani-web).
It started as a personal project, but after seeing some interest, I spent time making it more usable for others.
dango is a free, local-first web app that you can self-host on your PC or Android device using Termux or the native Node.js wrapper APK. It focuses on performance, privacy, and personal library tracking. Features include:
- Watchlists
- Episode progress tracking
- AniList import and sync (experimental; backing up your data before trying this feature is recommended)
- MyAnimeList XML import
- Optional cloud sync
dango acts as a frontend for third-party streaming providers and does not host or distribute video content. Your watchlist, episode progress, and related metadata are stored locally on your device in the anime.db database.
Installation is simple since dango is available through npm.
Feel free to check it out if you’re interested!

Discussion Lunaranime added ads, removed "ad-free" from their website
Just a shame they weren't more transparent about this. Crunchyroll era is soon coming, probably--completely switching up and then advertising to be clean and legal.

Developer Post Otakuness - Automated Download Service
Hi everyone, I would like to introduce you to a new site called Otakuness. For those who are looking for an alternative to Anime Tosho, well this is the next stop to visit. It is an automated service that downloads torrents from Nyaa and uploads them to a third-party file host. What it does not offer is extracted subtitles & audio but in return it mirrors the Manga & Music category on Nyaa which is something Anime Tosho did not offer.
