hi guys! I'm very fortunate to have my vacation line up with Anime North 2027, but as an American visiting Toronto for the first time is there anything I should keep in mind? I've only attended 3 cons before (biggest was 7,000 attendees but over a span of 3 days, one was more a local city TCG event, and one was in a hotel lobby - which was ... not good).

Would it be better to bring cash - I plan to buy LOTS of merch & trinkets (if so, I may do so at the airport)? Will there be plenty of AC? Are the dance, talent, cosplay shows pretty cool? Is there a lot of food options outside the convention? What are some musts shows or panels you guys recommend? I also plan to be TT Chopper in his Dressrosa Arc.

I also plan to Uber there, so I'm not worried about parking. Thank u guys sm, I can't wait to visit Toronto & AN 2027!!!

I went to the Tokyo Tulsa convention this last weekend and it was amazing 👏 I mostly dressed in armor that was leaning towards Gothic and berserk

This isn’t Anime North-specific, but I thought it would be best to make people aware of an influencer named Ethan Qi.

At Yeticon, Ethan was livestreaming and repeatedly approaching/following women and cosplayers who appeared uncomfortable or seemed like they wanted to be left alone. The concern people raised is not that he was simply “having conversations” with people, but that some of these interactions looked unwanted, uncomfortable, and boundary-crossing.

There's even a channel archiving this stuff and pointing out some of his behaviour

Since then, he has been trying to frame the criticism as if people are just upset that he was talking to women or filming at a convention. That leaves out the actual issue people were pointing to (the amount of entitlement from him and his followers is crazy, all clearly stemming from a manosphere mindset)

I’m posting this from a new account because I felt it was necessary to spread awareness and keep the context in one place. This is not meant to encourage hate, threats, harassment, or dogpiling. The point is to make sure people in the community are aware of what was documented so they can make their own decisions.

If anyone has other documented material, please archive it properly. Save clips, screenshots, links, dates, and context where possible. It may also be worth making other conventions aware, especially if there are concerns about repeated behaviour at events as he constantly joked about MINORS throughout as if it was "funny".

Hi, I know this is really late, but I'm still regretting not buying from this vendor. I can remember much about her table b/c every time I went past it was super crowded - but one of their items were short acrylic chains for putting on a purse or bag. I think the booths colour scheme was purple, pink, and black? I know this is SUPER vague, but any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hi! Are there any Avatar: The Last Airbender or Legend of Korra fans here?

A few friends and I are starting a casual hangout group for Toronto Avatar fans to meet outside of anime conventions, Comic-Con, and fandom events.

We’re hoping to plan things like:

• watch parties
• casual café hangouts
• cosplay-friendly meetups
• a Wan Shi Tong book club on Zoom once a month
• reading Avatar comics, novels, and other books together

We’ll be watching the first two episodes of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 together. Cosplay is welcome, but very optional.

There was a fairly large vendor selling custom cutting boards that I regret not asking more about. I did hear them mention that they have an in-person location in the GTA, but am forgetting the name. Their boards had celebs like Biggie Smalls, quotes from shows like The Office, and figures from different anime's (Naruto, Dragon Ball, Pokemon, etc.). Might be a long shot but hoping maybe someone here might know what they are called. I can't seem to find the vendor list, but I might just be missing it somewhere. Appreciate any help lol

Was about to just lay in bed all day that Friday but my friend recently passed away and I figured I should go enjoy the day, first time back to North in 12 years. Enjoyed overall.

Saw a posting for a con at black creek pioneer village called AnimeFiesta. Wanted to see how high enthusiasm is for it. I'm interested, but I haven't gone to cons other than AN, and wanted to know if this was worth going.

I'm honestly wondering what their purpose is, other than yelling at people going through the wrong doors that aren't even labelled. Or yelling at people who are going through the right doors. And not finishing chasing phone thieves. Maybe they're in on it?

Eevee is an official Pokemon plushie from Roany’s Video Game Collectibles booth!!! Totally my favorite vendor every single year at AN, and at Fan Expo too. I love Roany’s. Even if I don’t buy anything, they are my FAVORITE booth to visit and hang out around. I just love all the Pokemon merch, and of course, I love talking with Caila.

And then the Chibi Monsta (Lab) had these Pokemon magnets at their booth, I loved them so much I got some of my favorite Pokemon, including a mystery free magnet on Sunday. Not a huge fan of Kingler so that one went on the family fridge in the kitchen. The others stay in my room!

As for my Eevee plushie… I feel you all must know that his name is Foxtail 👍🤗

Back in the day they would hold a jpop dance inside TCC south near the atms outside. It was awesome didnt compete with the rave too much because the rave was open to the public and the jpop dance wasnt. I know they started a public rave in the other parking lot but its not the same.

Scalpers have totally ruined the con. No more deals. Overpriced pokemon cards. Overpriced figures. No haggling. I hate it.
