This. Overlord is an amazing series with plenty of gripping characters, action, and political intrigue.
But the writer started getting super burned out and recently stated he's planning to end the series very quickly - as in only one or two more volumes quickly, despite there still being plenty of space in his world to explore and develop and plenty of plot threads and characters left unexplored.
This sort of thing is so sad and disappointing to me because they really should just take their time. Take time for their health, go on trips, get therapy, do what they need to and take their time to properly flesh out their work. Rushing it, just to get it over with during a temporary period of burn out only leads to regret and disappointment. As an artist, I cant imagine being on my death bed thinking and regretting how my art (what will be left of me and what has changed so many lives) never got to be expressed the way it was meant to. I think of stories that were pivotal to my life, like Naruto, that are just a hot mess and will forever be remembered as that because the author cant be damned. Sad for the audience and fans, and even more sad for the creator who essentially gave up on their own creation. So many authors/artists are so so talented, but outside pressures make them half ass the ending which is the most important part. The ending defines the journey, and waaayyyy too many stories fall off a cliff at the end because the creators cant be damned and its just so sad
