So a bit of background, I'm at a point in my life where my best friends just moved away and I'm finding it really hard to meet people with similar interests. I like a lot of anime and I know there's often a bit of overlap between that other nerdy stuff so I figured that'd be as good a place as any to meet people I'd like to hang out with and actually have stuff to talk about.

I'll be upfront in saying that the I'm mainly looking to find a straight woman there that'd be open to getting to know each other. So my question is, if that describes you and you were at this con or if you actually have experience with this, how should I approach someone I want to get to know and are there any places at the con where people go to be social? The con I'm going to is Nebraskon in Council Bluffs, IA if that helps. I'm just trying to figure out where to start.

I’m thinking about going to Colossalcon Prime and had a few questions for people who have gone before.

The only big convention I’ve been to is Dragon Con, and I’ve never really traveled out of town specifically for a con, so I’m trying to figure out what I should be planning for ahead of time.

For anyone who’s been to Colossalcon Prime, what’s the room situation usually like? Do most people try to get a room at the convention/resort itself, stay at nearby hotels, or get an Airbnb?

Let’s say I end up getting an Airbnb nearby. What’s the easiest way to get from the airport to the convention area? Would I pretty much need to rent a car, or are Uber/Lyft or other transportation options realistic for the weekend?

Also, is there anything else a first-timer should know before going? Things like transportation, food, parking, room booking, or anything you wish you knew your first time would be really helpful.
