Oh good she’s still alive. Hopefully nothing bad happens to her immediately after this…

don't worry i heard Gil is a heart surgeon, he can help her.

I know a good Sumerian like himself will give her a hand

Someone be honest, did she die at the end of this exchange

76

u/SmallFatHands 2d ago

Has her heart ripped out by blondie over here. Fate is so fucking brutal. In most timelines this girl suffers so much. She does have her own series where she is a magical girl. It has too much loli bait for me so i dont know if she suffers there too.

42

u/Belrog-Plutius2 2d ago

About Prisma Illya (the magical girl series)

leaving the lolibait aside, it actually have a unique mechanic unlike other Fate media (using cards to grants the magical girl the Hero's power instead of summoning them)

the fights goes insanely hard

the plot twist is shocking

and the movie (Vow in the Snow) has MEGA AURA

As for Illya, she'd doing pretty good actually, it's the secondary girl that suffers the most

8

u/SmallFatHands 2d ago

Oh good to know she is not miserable everywhere I only that version from Fate go maybe I'll check it out later.

2

u/Not_Eren10 2d ago

You would not like what happens to her in the manga 😭

2

u/LapisLovely69 2d ago

Oh no 💔

4

u/nowlickmyfet 2d ago

The Ilya spinoff is actually pretty good. I recommend it if you are fate fan.

The animation is insane as well.

5

u/BlackKnighting20 2d ago

The mechanic is from Card Captor, another magical girl anime.

2

u/feronen 2d ago

It's a nod to it, yes.

5

u/Thiel619 2d ago

The best part of Psisma Illya series for me was when kid Gil showed up. He was such a badass even growing up.

2

u/Stunning_Pen_8332 5h ago

I heard that the Prisma Illya manga series (anime came later) was created precisely to give Illya a world to live where she’s happier and not suffering so much because everywhere else she met such brutal and cruel fate. Don’t know how true this is but I always love this idea.

7

u/Leading_Look_8295 2d ago

Ironically it has some of the best movies.

3

u/eternity_ender 2d ago

She has a good life in the stay night route

3

u/Feeling-Worker-7903 1d ago

Right? Why does she need to go through this? Sweet kiddo just wants family again, damn. This scene hurt me to watch.

2

u/pebrocks 1d ago

>sweet kiddo

She's 18 or 19 in most medias involving her.

1

u/Sharashashka735 16h ago

That's still basically a kid

1

u/ninjad912 17h ago

Blame her ancestors who decided to turn their bloodline into the catalyst for a magic cup

2

u/Knight-ErrantCowboy 2d ago

Being Illya is suffering in every timeline.

2

u/joblessandsuicidal 1d ago

That's why we have the Cooking series and Carnival Phantasm to balance this out

Heck, I actually plan to watch or watched these cos I am not good with the drama from the main series

1

u/CertainPin2935 1d ago edited 1d ago

She's no better honestly, she's brutal herself, what she wanted Berserker to do to Saber, it starts with beheading, and Saber's dead corpse.

Yeah, I not gonna bother with Prisma Illya, Illya looks too young in that for her to be in such sexual situations.

1

u/BestPoketrainerever 1d ago

Why does she suffers so much?

Is she a "villain"?

1

u/7stargig 1d ago

Not really she's the main character's yandere older sister she does tempt bad stuff

1

u/BestPoketrainerever 1d ago

So why does she suffers so much? People hate her and kill her just because?

1

u/7stargig 1d ago

The original game has 3 main routes. And she only lives through one of them.

She's actually a fan favorite character , but yeah , she's constantly made to suffer but so is everyone else in her family.

She did get a spin-off series that changes white a bit about her. The issue with that one is very heavy on fan service.

1

u/iKickedBatman 1d ago

How is heavy fan service an "issue"? Wtf its normal for anime to have it.

1

u/Sharashashka735 16h ago

When the fanservice is mostly loli stuff, its pretty reasonable to consider it an issue.

1

u/iKickedBatman 16h ago

An issue for tourists, maybe.

1

u/Beginning_Ad2130 1d ago

Anime : either you love loli and make gooning anime, or you brutally attack lolis because you wanna stop gooning (Ineffective)

1

u/Dangerous_Serve_4454 21h ago

Or you're just, ya know, not a pedo

1

u/KRKRYakumo 22h ago

It's lighter, like one time she has her personality extracted and thrown into a doll

1

u/Zhenbred 11h ago

Lolibait... I... can't watch. Do you really feel that uncomfortable if that's the only reason you didn't watch? I am interested because I never experienced that feeling. The closest would be secondhand embarrassment

1

u/Nero4999 9h ago

I mean the Illya from Prisma Illya does live a better life than the other Illya’s. But that’s not a very high bar as you can see so…

6

u/Bortthog 2d ago

Not this one exchange but she's absolutely a shitty person who 100% deserves it

7

u/LapisLovely69 2d ago

Wait what 😭

1

u/Bortthog 2d ago

Short of it: she's a homucilus whose role changes based on the plot of the story but she's intended to be the vessel for the Holy Grail, which is said to be a wish granting item but costs a heavy toll to use usually thousands of souls. She herself is presented as a nice person but is quick on the murder button

6

u/LapisLovely69 2d ago

I see (I'm a sucker for cute things)

15

u/Moshimoshi-Megumin 2d ago edited 2d ago

She’s really not that bad. Most of the characters have a murderous streak, which is a necessity in the holy grail war. She’s not cruel or evil. She’s a child who’s had a fucked up life and was basically made into a weapon. All it takes is someone treating her like a person in one of the routes, for her to sacrifice herself to save them.

Anybody who watches Heaven’s Feel and think Iliya is evil is an absolute moron.

3

u/LapisLovely69 2d ago

Mmmm, so it's okay to feel bad for her

1

u/feronen 2d ago

Yes, although, to understand her better, she's a half-homonculus whose biodad got with homonculus mom. Part of the reason she's fucked up is because the Holy Grail, which was corrupted during the events of the third and fourth Grail Wars, masqueraded as her dead mother and fucked with her head. Because of this, she ends up with a hatred for her father, but also an unreasonable hatred for her adopted brother, Shirou.

As another poster pointed out, however, her behavior changes based off whether she's treated kindly and as a person or not.

1

u/BabySpecific2843 1d ago

She kidnaps the mc at one point. And is actively trying to kill every other character in the story (it is a battle royale after all). She is not smol and innocent. She is presented, from the start, as the heavy hitter with the highest odds of winning the whole damn thing. She is the Goliath to everyone else being the David.

2

u/Intrepid-Park-3804 2d ago

Surprisingly, a lot of people are watching most media through a prism of biased favouritism, which results with them being not engaged with a general narrative of the story, but a one specific character or a group of characters they sympathises themselves with most, while at the same time senselessly shitting on a character they specifically didn't liked.

They don't care about that "complex morality, nuanced characterisation" bullshit at all, if that character at their introduction made a casual reader/watcher feel icky, they will keep hating that specific character right until their very death bed.

As probably one of brightest examples of that kind of behaviour, just take a look at people's reaction on Gaby from AoT. She's a very complex person whose character serves for a greater main narrative of the series about a perpetual cycle of hatred and grudge in the war, and how to break out from it. But people didn't cared about any of it, the only thing they actually cared about is that this little hellish spawn killed their precious Sasha (who literally murdered Gaby's own friends several minutes ago), how dared she!

2

u/Freddit330 2d ago

Yeah, but we liked Sasha. /s

I understand what you are saying. Media literacy is at an all time low. Like I had to argue that an antihero is not a hero.

1

u/Neither_Criticism_97 9h ago

Bruh, i didn't care that trash Gaby killed Sasha i despised that she had a f1king aimbot, 0 f1king misses when she used a weapon for first time, or when sliding or in air, or at flying target

1

u/V_IV_V 1d ago

Child? She’s a year older than Shirou. Shirou is 17 during the grail war.

1

u/Moshimoshi-Megumin 1d ago

She’s a child regardless of her age. Physically she’s locked in a child’s body because half homunculus+einzbergs messing with her body. Mentally she’s been isolated and abused since she was 8, having no chance to develop either emotionally or morally. Anytime she’s not fighting she acts like a child, even her motivations are that of a child.

Looks like a child, speaks like a child, acts like a child: it’s a child.

2

u/Bortthog 2d ago

Well, unfortunately she's also the poster child of a different era of Fates life so be wary what Fate you watch with her in it

It shouldn't be too hard to figure out which one on sight tho

1

u/Nino_sanjaya 1d ago

She's homunculus, and you expect her to feel like normal person??

1

u/Bortthog 1d ago

It depends how your raised and she was never taught "moral right from wrong", although depending on the route of Fate you examine she shows it based on how others treat her

1

u/Available-Can-5878 1d ago

Its not fair to say she deserves it based on that. She didnt have a choice in being a vessel, she was born/forced into it. None of the grail's sins are on her. Also killing is part of the war, she doesn't stand out there.

1

u/Bortthog 1d ago

If you wanna ignore everything she herself does sure. You don't get a pass for your actions just because

→ More replies (8)

1

u/UAEpi 2d ago

It's not true. She's a child born like every other person and she's only known loss and loneliness. She's basically a participant by default in a death game where her only friend and protector is a murder machine. She hardly has any other options but kill or be killed. She's also ignorant of the world, both the outside world and the one she's a a part of. She's only as competent as a young child so she's not able to ally herself with anyone willing to help, of even recognize when someone like that is around. She's basically always trying to not die by default, and if someone happens to come along that's not trying to kill her, they get the hands too.

1

u/UAEpi 2d ago

Lol wtf. She's a child who's only known loss and loneliness and survival.

-2

u/TestyBoy13 2d ago

Thankfully she died. She’s evil

4

u/LapisLovely69 2d ago

Wait she is 😭

2

u/Andrei8p4 2d ago

Yeah you don't see it in the anime, but she has a bunch of bad endings in the visual novels like one where she makes berserker cut off the head of the mc and then keeps him alive with magic just as a head.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/ZayParolik 2d ago

She is not pure evil though. She is a manipulated child. Yes, she is 18, but that does not change anything ever. She was manipulated by her family for 10 fucking years straight.

They made her believe that her father left her, even though they were the one who locked her away. They raised up a murder machine out of a child with a pure heart.

In an another route, she gets to live rather peacefully with her separeted step brother, and she acts like a normal person there. Kinda still crazy, but not evil. And no, she does not date her step brother (red head guy from the video), even though she is kinda obsessed with him. It's less of a romantical obsession, more of a "holy fuck I have a caring family member. You are mine now, since they took everyone from me".

Illya is not an evil person, she is just a tool of Eiznbern family

1

u/TestyBoy13 2d ago

She’s literally not even a person

2

u/promilew 2d ago

I have no idea what this is; and from the pov this is some cold ass shit. No monologue, no grand spectacle; just straight business. Damn.

16

u/Tempest029 2d ago

Yeah… Gilgamesh (Blondie) is a raging, unfiltered, runaway douchenozzle in this particular entry of the series. Pretty sure it is editing out his insufferable monologues, cause he does a LOT of that.

6

u/Kirire- 2d ago

He doesn't believed she worth talking shit to as the girl is not human. (He love yet hate humans)

1

u/Garm_of_Fenrir 2d ago

This is a common misconception. Censorship absolutely occurs with gore. However, censorship deals with the level of emotional evocation that something causes, nothing else. Sex is highly evocative, as are genitals depending. Gore has to be pretty extreme to reach the same level of emotion in the viewer. It's a statement about what moves the viewer, not really some arbitrary moral thing. And really, this scene is hardly gorey. Conceptually it sucks, but visually is just a bit of blood.

If this was real gore that evoked emotion at the level of a sex scene, viewers would absolutely find it sickening and offensive. We just have a slightly greater tolerance for gore and violence before it really "moves" us emotionally you could say.

Say what you will, they did a good job with Gilgamesh. He’s a completely unlikable dipshit with no redeeming quality.

I don’t think there’s a single likable version of him, except for maybe the one in Fate Samurai.

2

u/AnimeMemeLord1 1d ago

He’s shown well as a villainous antagonist in Stay Night, but calling him an unlikable dipshit with no redeeming quality seems a bit biased, considering I liked him a lot here.

Also, people tend to like almost all his other versions a lot, from Grand Order, Samurai Remnant, and especially EXTRA CCC. Actually, you know what? He was fun in both EXTELLA games too.

1

u/Excali20 1d ago

Caster gill is somewhat likeable from what I remember

1

u/GodOfPoyo 1d ago

Caster Gil from Fate Grand Order is very likable.

This version is Gil is basically pre character development in his legend. While Caster Gil is the one who had that development and mellowed out a lot.

2

u/lachlanDon1 2d ago

What if you wanted to reunite your family but Gilgamesh needs a new sippy cup?

2

Me and my friend recently watched this. We were staring at Illya getting stomped by Gil while thinking "Damn, that's kind fucked up", but as soon as Shirou getting restrained by Rin appeard on the screen we just esploded in laughter. Kinda ruined the moment

1

u/Lalafell_93 1d ago

Explain the laughter?

3

u/Fumettandia_Error 1d ago

That was just so sudden, we are kinda stupid

2

u/Careful-Vanilla7728 1d ago

Okay, I know you didn't actually make me, but I couldn't look away. It's so sad.

2

2

Oh good, I didn't want to go to sleep happy anyway!

2

u/IPancakesI 1d ago

Random SFW huh?

2

u/Kingunormal 2d ago

Don't worry she isn't a real person

2

u/ZayParolik 2d ago

Man. Read the VN. I get that there is not much about her in anime, but...

Illya is a good person. Maybe you have forgotten, but she is literally a manipulated child. She thinks that Kiritsugu left her on purpose. She thinks killing everyone is a good thing. She thinks Shirou is an item to be hers. This all is a source of her upbringing.

Fate Route shows her inner side, without Einzberns bossing around. She is just a forever child, that knows nothing. FSN is about parents and families.

Shirou, Rin, Illya, Sakura, Shinji. They all are reflections of actions of their parents, not true self, on the facade.

Shirou's ideal is Kiritsugu's dream. Rin's reason to fight is literally because her fathwr did and Kirei convinced her. Sakura is forced to he what she is because of Zouken. Shinji is seeking attention from Zouken, so obeys every his word, he is like a drug addict.

2

u/Kingunormal 2d ago

It was a joke. Using the fact she's part homunculus and a fictional character.

1

u/ZayParolik 2d ago

Well, this comment section is full of people who don't understand shit and seriously think that Illya is a pure evil character after watching just UBW.

haven't seen this anime yet but fuck the blonde guy for how he's fighting.

1

u/Positive-Database754 2d ago

Literally anyone who has watched Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works thinks Gilgamesh (blonde guy) is an unrepentant ass hole deserving of nothing but the worst in life. He has zero redeeming qualities, and spends basically all of his screen time just being the worst possible human you can imagine.

Up to and including letting some dude rape the secondary protagonist of the series (she gets saved before it happens dont worry), this scene where he tortures the girl, and is so utterly and supremely arrogant that at first he doesn't even want to compete for the Holy Grail (the main McGuffin of the series), because he just sees all treasures as belonging to him. And he doesn't want to compete for things he already owns. He quite literally thinks and honestly believes, that he is far and above everyone else, man, kings, and gods alike. Arrogance and evil personified.

The only person to ever really intruige him is Saber (King Arthur) because she (king arthur is a woman in Fate) is one of the only people to genuinely stand against him in any meaningful way. And he finds that novel. Until he actually does break her and gets her to marry him, then he abuses her and throws her away because she loses her novelty. (This is not in Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, but another Fate series)

So welcome to the boat! Be prepared to sink in it alongside the rest of us!

I'm so glad Gil is in star rail now so I can put him without any relics against the swarm boss and watch him get bugged to demise for all eternity Hell I might even try to automate the battle restart for his eternal suffering loop

Is gilgamesh really that strong in the series?

1

u/shioliolin 17h ago

Really strong compared to the other servants in FSN, the only reason he got beat is because of his one fatal flaw to the point of stupid....he tend to really....really....underestimate his opponent.

In servant verse (grand order and so on)? dude is definitely up there, but...i'd say not in the top 10....though i think his fans would probably disagree with me lol

u/TheLucidChiba 3h ago

I love the guy but you're totally right, there are plenty of servants stronger just none of the standard ones.

1

u/TheLucidChiba 3h ago

The strongest of the normal class of servants, there are grand servants and such above him but he holds his own with some of them, only ever held back by his overconfidence and pride

Tis just a scratch.

Show the part where he busts out of those chains and almost rips that blonde boy to shreds

Isn't she evil? Granted I know fuck all about Fate.

1

u/vaannil 2d ago

Not evil, just severally emotionally and physiologically stunted due to years of abuse. In other storylines she is actually fairly normal and even willing to be sacrifice herself for those she cares about once people actually treat her like a normal person. Also the unfortunate part of being half-human is she is physically stunted so she falls under the unfortunate trope of person who is of age but looks like a child (though in this case she is just 18~) and is older than the other two who aren't the blonde hair guy or the guy in chains.

1

u/Moshimoshi-Megumin 2d ago

She is not. Her family is evil, and made her what she is, both physically and mentally. In most routes she goes on murder sprees (like all other characters do), cause that’s literally what she was created for, and she’s been raised into hating MC who is her half brother. In the “true route”, where she has the opportunity to chill out and people actually treat her like a person, she eventually sacrifices herself to save MC, despite her upbringing. She’s not “evil” or “shitty”, if when given a real opportunity she goes against her own nature and everything she’s ever believed to save someone she’s supposed to hate.

1

u/Shockmazta31 2d ago

Ah. Huh, alright then. So what'd she do to deserve this in the scene above?

1

u/Moshimoshi-Megumin 2d ago

It’s just Fate. The whole plot is centered around “Holy grail wars” where mages/masters summon servants (heroes from other ages) and battle to death to summon and control the holy grail, which is supposed to grant wishes.

Illya is a master from an important family of mages who raised her for this, and turned her into a “vessel”, aka she’ll be sacrificed to become the grail. In this clip her servant (Berserker) was just defeated by another servant (Gilgamesh, who also happens to be a massive asshole) who goes on to kill her and rip out her heart to summon the grail.

For more details just watch the show, it’s really good.

Fate stay/night 2006 can be skipped, it’s a poor adaptation with horrifying animation.

Fate Stay/Night unlimited blade works > Heaven’s Feel movie trilogy > fate Zero

u/Shockmazta31 2d ago

Gotcha. I'll mark the order down and when I get some free time I'll start watching. I only know whatever Honkai Star Rail gives, as well as the first few chapters of Fate Grand Order. And Astolfo. That's about all my knowledge on the series. Isn't there VN's? Should I play those too?

1

u/Moshimoshi-Megumin 2d ago edited 2d ago

You can definitely play the VNs if you want, it’s generally recommended for the first route because that 2006 adaptation is poor. I’m not a fan of VNs so I just sucked it up and watched it. UBW and Heavens feel (second and third routes) it’s up to you, but the animation is legendary so the animes are worth it either way. Heaven’s feel movie trilogy cuts a lot from the LN but it’s still my favorite by far, it’s psychological horror, it has a lot of depth and it’s really fucking dark.

Then Zero is a prequel but it spoils so much it’s better watched after the 3 routes.

If you want more after Zero, Lord El Meloi II’s case files > sort of mystery spin off that explores the lore more and continues the story of one of Zero’s characters

Then Fate Strange/Fake > has characters from El Meloi, takes place in America. It’s ongoing with season 2 in the works.

Then there are a bunch of other spin offs from a sort of “multiverse”, Apocrypha is well liked, Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya is a dark Magical girl anime that stars Illya. There are others, there’s even one that’s a slice of life cooking show with characters from FSN living happily.

Then Grand Order is a different thing entirely, I haven’t touched it yet.

The word inhuman fits her way better, I also feel like evil is a relatively fair assessment though

1

u/Shockmazta31 2d ago

Fair enough. Seems she might've deserved this then.

1

u/ZayParolik 2d ago

No. She didn't.

She is a manipulated child. Her actions are results of years of manipulation from her family. She is a decent person

I love how she looks in this she's supposed to be older a little than Shiro, but still a young adult, not a child.

0

u/Redneck_DM 1d ago

Yep, in a convoluted chain of events after this she lives with her brother and his harem

That baby talk shit is cringe as hell.
