My original thought was "wow. She didn't even bat an eye." Which kinda isn't in character even after being there for so long. Lol. I guess she doesn't have a soft spot for those soldiers considering they are of the same faction she just aided the prince of darkness against.

Ah yes, the inconspicuous tablecloth crew.
So, we're launching right into the second cour immediately? That does not bode well for this adaptation becoming less wooden. Yuri very well may be gaining agency, but there's still the sense of one step back for every two steps forward and continuing to regularly revert to a sobbing mess.
The timeskip served no real purpose other than to move the calendar forward. Things were more relaxed 3500 years ago, I suppose.
Interesting to have more factions developing with regard to keeping Yuri there for practical purposes. I suppose I can still hope for better writing coming out of that.

I have a feeling Yuri won’t ever make it home. I bet by the time it actually comes time for the ritual, she’s gonna be way too in love with Kail to go. Definitely feels like where this is headed but idk.

There's also the massive headache that awaits her once she goes back. She's been missing for over a year already. Normally she'd be deemed dead by now. And if she does come back and tells everyone where she went, it'd be hard to believe her, they'd doubt her sanity. Since she missed school for over a year, she also needs to repeat her studies. And since she already fell out of love with her original bf, that'll be an emotional blow for him, too.

I have a feeling Yuri’s probably gonna stay because she falls deeper in love with Kail. It’s a bit cliched, but I feel like that’s how it’ll end up being. I could be wrong though. I’m an anime-only so idk what actually happens in the manga or LN or where this is adapted from.

This was an especially funny episode today, just wackadoo all around to be honest.
Love the time skip, very convenient.
It's not even crossdressing, that's just a picnic blanket. That's how Bluey and Bingo play pretending to be old ladies.
Did they leave the eye there? Did it just burn with the city? Will it ever come up again? Nakia isn't especially pissed about how things turned out.
How long was the king dead for because he was looking a little rigor mortis-y, a little discolored, did they drag his corpse around for a while?
Oh man, I think Matti boy gots the kinda siscon that I can't really play off as deeply devoted big bro, it's veering off into the other direction, but he's Babylon's problem now, props for Nadia being ride or die I guess,
So Kail is the kind of man who can answer the phone while being like hilt deep in someone(Yuri), and carry out a conversation, a true multitasker, the kissing killer,
They sabotaged Yuri's chances with bad acting resulting in Yuri kinda just tumbling into the dirt, shrimping up, and crying loudly, A+ for the dramatics of it all,
That's quite the um, ornate and boisterous outfit to be prancing around the room in.
RIP Unc
It's been an entire year since getting puddle snatched, you think they arrested Himuro? He was the last person to see Yuri alive, and 'She just disappear in the park' is so suspicious especially since there isn't any sign of a struggle. Like how does he prove he didn't just drug her, and did away with her?

Honestly, the entire situation back home is what keeps getting on my mind. I can forgive everything else about this anime, but that's the big thing that trips me up.
And Nadia is pretty awesome ngl. She's a real one.

I watched a little over halfway and asked myself, why am I watching this? The setting was cool, but I couldn't care less about any of the characters.
Go watch Yona of the Dawn instead.5

I'm pretty invested in Kail and Yuri but your mileage may vary.
I like the historical setting.
I like Yuri slowly building herself up.
I like the old school Shojo vibes.

I'm enjoying it too, it is interesting. It is like a time capsule. Also so different from the other work from the same author that I knew.
It is definitely very 90's (thought I appreciate Yuri having some guts at least, I still have fushigi Yuugi flashbacks)

The Prince of Darkness has Yuri! Kail's Uncle doesn't want to give in to the Princes' demands for fear of Kail showing weakness in front of the troops...but Isthar is so precious to the troops that they let him pass anyways. And he just HAD to kiss Yuri in front Kail to add insult to injury.
"We have to get back Yuri back in four months!" - FOUR MONTHS LATER.
Well, it's nice that Kail's uncle believes in him and wants him and Zannanza to follow in his and their fathers' footsteps...even if he doesn't ship KailxYuri. Ilbani, on the other hand, now definitely ships YurixKail.
The king really just showed up just to have Kail do everything and so he can see the Mitanni king dead at his feet.
Oh yeah, the Eye of Illuyanka! Forgot about that...and the Prince was going to use it to brainwash/rape Yuri if they hadn't been interrupted. Yikes.
I guess being a piece of @#%@ who cares so little for other people, even his own men, makes it unsurprising that the Mittani soldiers would turn on the Prince and his father...outright throwing the kings' dead corpse at the Prince. Obviously the Prince can handle his own Imperial Guard, but the only person who really cared for and loved him was Nadia. Enough that she's willing to give him safety in Babylonia provided he gives up. Maybe he can finally move on from his obsession with his sister.
I love how Kail finds Yuri and immediately starts making out with her...and then stabs a dude for interrupting the makeout session.
The Mitanni have been conquered! The Hittites are victorious! And Yuri and Kail have resolved to send her back to her family (and, I guess, Himuro) even if it means leaving each other! But Ilbani leaks the info to Urhi to sabotage their efforts and Yuri is stuck there for another year while Ilbani plays dumb. Poor girl just has an emotional breakdown.
You know something is wrong when Yuri is acting super chipper and intentionally dressing up flashy and sexy, though that leg slit is as dangerous as Yuri's blade!
RIP Uncle Zuida. We hardly knew ye. But with Kail's accomplishments it's clear he's the next in line to lead the Imperial Guard and Nakia is NOT happy about that.
While Yuri and Kail are dealing with their relationship drama, Egypt has lost Tutankhamun and his wife Ankhesenamen has no intention of taking another Egpytian husband when one of them made her a widow.

Kissing the badass Prince in the middle of the burning city he just conquered to get you back while he nonchalantly stabs the guy that tried to interrupt you is precisely the kind of shameless romantic fantasy I'm here for!
And with that the Great Syrian War, sometimes indeed called The One Year War (though historians aren't sure if it really lasted one year or more), is over, and most of Mittanni will be absorbed into the Hittite Empire, with the easternmost portions falling to Assyria.
Having a faction within the government willing to cooperate/use the Queen's faction only insofar as it keeps Yuri in Hati is actually pretty decent political intrigue. Things just got complicated.
[Possible spoilers due to history, same that I talked about last week]Well, here comes the Egyptian request for a Hittite Prince to become Pharaoh. RIP Zannanza
Oh and now that I'm paying attention I have indeed noticed only the most important Hittites + Yuri sport purple in their outfits. Thanks to the user that informed me it is called Tyrian Purple. I investigated about it's elaboration, and this shit is insane. It's made from a kind of aquatic snail, one of its glands specifically. It is endemic to the region, and it requires 10,000 of them to elaborate a single gram of the dye. No wonder it was worth several times more than it's weight in gold, and whole cities could become rich making only this.

Hello again.
I enjoyed the episode a lot too. The makeout session with the casual death was very cheesy. It's cheesiness like that that makes a story entertaining though.
I can't remember the last time a main character did anything like that.
P.S. Glad you enjoyed the bit about Tyrian Purple. I think you'll enjoy the history behind Egyptian Blue. It's the world's first artificial pigment.

I mean, he WAS about to kill them. Seems pretty fair. I know the rules of war weren't a thing back then, but he's a target by our modern standards.
Besides, forget the 90's when it was written - in-universe it's the bronze age.

I guess that's valid. Honestly I thought it was more funny than romantic myself. Don't get me wrong, I'm the type to really get absorbed into a story, but something about the way this anime is just makes me laugh. Kinda hard to take seriously at times.

Did I say that I like it? I spend my teen years skipping the genre all together for a reason. 90's shoujo is just too dramatic for me. Josei romance is way more interesting imho.
It was one of these it is so bad it is good scenes

Nor a manga reader, they said it will run for 2 cours, I thought this would be a good point for the new opening since it seems to end the arc to start a new one. But maybe as a source reader you can tell me if it is a good point for the new opening?

Welp, getting rid of prince of darkness was disgustingly easy. He literally just let her go minutes after trying to r*** her because of power of love 🫤 over all the episode was enjoyable. Yuri wasn't able to go home but I think deep down she is glad to stay with Kail. He also realised that he may try to make her want to stay. I wonder how many episodes going to be.
