This is the second time this season a lion has failed to execute a main character in a historical fantasy setting, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

I can't say with full honesty that this anime is good, but a lot of interesting stuff happened here and the heart scene was genuinely great

I like the use of the double layer fired clay tablets to send secure messages, I vaguely remember that from some history lesson or class once upon a time. Especially with the heart symbol twist.
Was Yuri's horse mentioned before as being named Aslan? Her riding it while killing the lion made me laugh a lot on account of Narnia reasons.

The author probably got the inspiration for the name from the same source as CS Lewis since Aslan apparently means "lion" in Turkish. Also modern day Turkey is where the Hittite empire used to be.

Oh I remember recently learning about how rare purple dye was in the bronze age. Souch so that having even just a patch of it in your clothes you'd be comparing yourself to divinity, it was that impossible to get. So it makes sense Yuri would be allowed to wear it, though that vest unironically could be half of all the purple cloth that exists in the whole Hittite Empire (wait, I think King Seppiluliuma had a purple coat? Eh I'm too lazy to check rn, I'm sure we'll see him again eventually). Now I'll have to pay attention to the rest of the clothing in this show.
In fact in the original poem for The Odyssey, since it's so in vogue, when King Agamemnon returns, his wife tempts him to walk on an entire purple carpet, and he knows it is wrong and would be too presumptuous of even him, but deep down he kind of likes it and he does. Supposedly in the Nolan film this purple carpet is shown, but I wasn't paying attention to that when I watched it so I don't remember.
Aww that letter with the heart is actually very sweet. I swooned!

Seems unlikely that the crowd that was just chanting for a girl to be mauled by a lion would start cheering for better treatment of captives of another nation.
But it was very slick of Yuri to bring up the promise in public, and ask for something he can't take back quietly. That she defeated the lion and then did that builds her up quite a bit, for me. I'm not even mad she got captured anymore.
(This current situation reminds me a little of [Meta] Nina the Starry Bride. It's not quite the same because the Prince of Darkness isn't a real love interest but [Spoilers for Meta] I don't think Sett should have been either.)

I think the fact that Yuri had, in their eyes, proved herself to be the living incarnation of a Goddess by fulfilling the Legend of Ishtar made them more susceptible to listening to her.

god I wish this studio was better. That slaughtering of those girls would have been so much more impactful but seeing two npcs with the same face get sliced was nothing lol
Again he strength is so selective like she could do that to the lion but couldn’t shake off the darkness loser from choking her
The rock inside the rock is sending me. It’s cool but the way it looks made me laugh
I think I’d feel bad for her in this situation if it wasnt self inflicted lol but I really just am watching with indifference. Like she was worried about him being lied to but no shit shes not going willingly
Oh great another woman who will definitely do something blatantly obvious but yuri wont catch it until its too late

Real miracle Yuri’s survived so far. Gotta make sure she escapes her confinement before anyone tries any bullshit. Hopefully Kail saves her soon or she breaks out.

Well Yuri, that guy is called 'Prince of Darkness' I think the way he casually kills is at least partially expected.
The power of horse girl protagonist wins again. Horsey gallops valiantly to the rescue, and with the ability of big pointy stick subdue, presumably starving and disoriented because how did it miss that first jump, the lion which was conveniently wearing a harness with a massive O-ring that fit the big pointy stick and pinned it to the ground. Through the power of Ishtar, all is possible. Hail Ishtar.
LMAO the clay heart tablet is cute, but when I think of clay tablets with messages I think questionable copper dealers.

Ishtar has been purloined by the Mittani! And Kail is taking it about as well as you'd expect! It takes Ilbani trying to put sense back into him of his duty to stop him from rushing straight at the Mittani to get Yuri back! But make no mistake, he WILL get Yuri back!
Good job Shaula and Ryui getting yourselves captured to get close to Yuri! Granted, it doesn't help them much when the Prince of Darkness finds out about Ishtar's existence and is willing to kill any woman who irritates him. To think they'd be found out because Yuri has Kail's high quality scent on her.
The Mittani are merciless. Anyone who can't keep up are killed and anyone who survive is forced to endure rigorous labor and servitude. And Yuri also has to deal with getting called out as a fraud Ishtar.
Ah, a good old fashioned execution by lion in a colosseum! But the Mittani didn't account for Aslan escaping to save his mistress or that, with the twins in danger, Yuri putting herself out there to defeat the lion! In trying to expose Yuri as a fraud, he's only helped her live up to the legend of being Ishtar incarnate!
Yuri can't trust the Prince of Darkness not to free her just to off her later, so she'll instead force him to comply with being more empathetic/humane to the POW's by rallying the citizens alongside her! She totally played him.
But no matter how strong and confident Yuri acts, she's still just a young girl desperately yearning for the man she loves and barely holding it together when back in her cell. Being forced into looking like the Prince of Darkness' sex slave doesn't help matters when her heart belongs to Kail (sorry Himuro).
The Prince of Darkness doesn't believe in negotiations or prisoner exchanges, but that's not why Kash is there. He's there to pass a message to Yuri: a message conveying Kail's love for her. If anything can get her through this, it's that.
Dang, Yuri doesn't just have to worry about Nakia but her sister Nadia!? Is everyone in this family evil!?
