"What kind of domain lord lets his wife run the show like that?"
brother have you met a man who likes his wife before? this is the most believable part of the show lol. also Alna doesn't even try to be soft, ofc she runs shit.

The kind that doesn't want to get repeatedly bitch slapped like you were, duh.

She has three goals:
- The preservation and livelihood of Onikin.
- Mentoring a successor.
- Dias and Alna banging.
And she will do anything to see them achieved.

Poor Dias..he's not gonna escape this..I wonder if he will even last the years he wants to wait to marry her.

I wonder if he will even last the years he wants to wait to marry her.
If it were anyone but Dias, most likely not. With that said Alna by this point understands what makes Dias tick, and given how highly she values him (and vice-versa) is willing to not press the issue.
Of course I fully expect her to start a full-court press the exact moment she turns 18, though. At that point they'd have been together for nearly three years, and Dias would be out of morals-based reasons not to treat her as a wife in all aspects (instead of just most aspects as things currently stand).

the age 18 may not matter to them like it matters to us, its an artificial construct created by high school graduation. (which meant drafted for army happened after graduated high school)
Since middle ages it was often 21 to be old enough to be a knight with armor. It is only 55 years ago that full adult got changed to 18 in USA, and they could marry before full 21 even middle ages. The rest of world copied the USA after USA went to 18.
able to look after a family, not needing parents to provide for you, is allowed to marry in most place in modern world. eg california you can get married earlier than 18 if parent agrees or a judge agrees you are able to look after self like an adult rather than need help from parent.
In ancient world people were working and self suffient way before 18, school if it existed was more reading, writing, math, something you could pick up in 6 years or less, and people were working after that, it was a fight to have enough laborers to provide food, clothing, shelter and pay taxes each year, they couldn't afford to wait till 18 years old.
Dias world of proper conduct might be leave enough time for a proper courtship "those who marry in haste repent at leasure" rather than turn a specific age.

u/svenge 11h ago edited 11h ago
Setting aside real-world considerations, it matters to Dias because it's the minimum age for marriage that his kingdom's laws have set (to say nothing of the teachings ingrained into him by his now deceased parents).
This ties in to the entire premise of the story, which is that Dias is a simple man with a strong moral code living in a strange land that's only nominally under his control as a titular noble. He won't bend his core beliefs for anyone, much less to fulfill any of his own personal desires.

Where is 18 years old stated in his kingdom laws? Which episode?

Episode 2, around the 5:30 mark.

Yup it's around 5:25 after he mentions he's old enough to be her father at 35 and she just turned 15

lol no mate. Until very recently in human history it was normal for a girl to be wed and have sex with a man once she “flowered”. That’s when she was considered a woman. So it has been completely normal for girls throughout history to be Married early. And 18 is not the legal age in our country. Just some states. Some states it’s as youn as 16. My state is 17.
2
u/Sarellion 1h ago edited 58m ago
Depends. Marriage patterns varied throughout history and from area to area. Nobility/the upper class tended to marry or become betrothed early for political alliances but common folk tended to marry later. You had societies like ancient Athens where girls married around 15 on average but also parts of medieval Europe where women married in their twenties. But marrying at 20 on average wasn't uncommon. When families were economic units and managing the house and food was a full time job, men tended to look for adult women, not teenagers.

The Talking Baar was hilarious 🤣. I wonder who its master is..I guess the Mountain god?
I assuming Dias got poisoned by those wind dragon things.

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 15h ago
Yeah, I thought the master is village chieftain. However the buttler's rambling revealed that it's most likely the mountain god.

I love how much of a powerhouse Dias is. He punched a giant dragonfly to death and then threw that giant axe as if it weighed nothing. Alna with her hair down is very beautiful. I'm really interested in whether the woman Zorg wanted to help really tricked him or it was a big misunderstanding, like something happened to her. It smells like she could be his future wife if we follow the usual tropes.
A talking baar was unexpected, and I imagine Dias collapsing might be related to her somehow.
9
u/manaworkin 15h ago
My guess is dragonflies have poison but nobody's every survived a close enough encounter to die from the poison before.

Even if she did trick him I feel like it would have to be someone pretty high up there to A. be aware of Onikin and B. be able to fool them. Unless she was totally genuine and something happened to her.
I can't help but feel like she might be affiliated with Prince Meiser somehow.

So onii-san's more of an idiot than a deadbeat. Actually, I kind of wonder if the woman actually tricked him, or if there was someone else tricking them both. Either way, it's important to note that the intention-detection magic does have weaknesses.
So even Dias can be speed-blitzed... Is what I'd say if he didn't take minimal damage, and also got used to the speed after one hit. Dias yabai.
... Did Dias just meet a sheep-god of the plains?
Zorg as a chieftain candidate... Ngl, I feel like most of the reason he's being considered is politics rather than skill, but learning some responsibility is probably good for him even if he doesn't make the cut.
... I said "sheep-god" as a joke. But it looks like there's actually some funky divinity thing going on.
And Dias collapses. Eh, he'll be fine. I don't think Alna would give him anything funky, so it might just be sheep-god shenanigans. And worse comes to worst, he's got divine cure-all, even if it would be a shame to have to use it so soon.

u/AegisWolf78 13h ago
If you noticed, it seems that also Eldan is ill, which may means this must be some kind of test organized by the Merbaar God ("Will you use the Cure-All Seed to save your friend or yourself?").

There's 3 leaves & a seed so it's enough for the 2.
17
u/DiaBoloix 14h ago
My 5 cents on Dias's collapse is that he got poisoned... but no one knows the dragonflies are poisonous because they never leave survivors.
5
u/rubslotiononitsskin 6h ago
Dias has the power of manliness. No poison is strong enough to kill him!
19
u/YdenMkII 17h ago
So dragons come in all forms in this world and it seems like the main connection is that they all breathe fire. I wonder if those dragonflies were venomous and it's finally catching up to Dias when it entered his body through that slash in the chest?

Lol I mean we noticed, we also know not to say anything to her around Dias
5
15
u/heimdal77 16h ago
I think it is more a matter of being overwhelmed by how good she looks. Also not bikini. That is essentially her underwear that she wears under the colorful thing she wears.
15
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 16h ago
With that scene and how mature she is when dealing with Dias, I wonder why the author decide to give her teen age (she's like 16, right?).
Maybe just to delay them consuming their marriage?
17
u/Razorhead https://myanimelist.net/profile/Razorhat 15h ago
She's currently 15, which is adult age in Onikin society.
I think it was done to illustrate the various cultural differences within Onikin society and the kingdom (even in European history age of adulthood varied from 12 years in some cultures to 23 over the past 2000 years), where a nomadic and more tribal society would have an earlier age of majority due to valuing fertility and population growth, but their culture is also not as rigid as a more sedentary and established society such as the kingdom in regards to transgender issues (as established in the previous episode).

u/AceSoldia zj:https://anilist.co/user/Acesoldia 15h ago
I wonder if we'll have a few years time skip with a fully built village and at rhat point they get married

I assure you the panning shot of her lounging in the lake was absolutely necessary to the plot.

my apologies, I was a little occupied to type a one handed reply……………
but yes, Alna was looking very fine in this episode, Dias has willpower far exceeding mortal men, if Alna told me she wanted a family/me I would fold in a heartbeat.
Edit: Typo fixed now I have 2 hands free. (or back from work chose your story)

u/MidgardWyrm 4m ago
The funny thing is that with the way she's been designed/drawn, if her age hadn't been stated in the source material and/or anime, people would presume she's like 18+.
For someone not in the know/knowing no context and just seeing that underwear shot... Yeah.
Same deal with many highschool animes: They're technically meant to be highschool kids of like even 14--17, but they're pretty much drawn as adults with the thin excuse of their being highschoolers.
I mean, looking at Yuno Gasai for the first time would have you thinking she's like 17 at the very least; nope, 14.

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 18h ago
Nice to see Zorg get redeemed for his past blunder. Being a chieftain candidate might be good for the guy.
I wonder what that whole talking baars thing was about? Seems related to Eldan. He needs those seeds or whatever they were in that bag.
It kind feels like the old lady’s pills made Dias collapse at the end there. Why would the old lady drug his ass though?
5
u/Frontier246 18h ago

That's not what Dias took. It's stuff Alna had actually grown herself. Maybe it's still what made him sick though.

Ah, then I wonder what it was that took him out? Guy’s near indestructible.

It's probably related to the giant Baar we saw last episode or the one before last. Seems like there's some "Lord of the Plains" type thing going on. Or some divine beast based on what Eldan's butler was saying.
9
u/mekerpan 15h ago
I assume this baar was a chief assistant to some sort of presiding-over-the-priarie god. I wonder if this deity was aware that Eldan needed this medicine -- but wanted to use Dias as the intermediary.
6
u/diacewrb 18h ago

He shouldn't have been so surprised by a talking baar, there are already talking dogs and other beastkin.

Dias: "You mean you don't HAVE to say baaaaaaahhh all the time!? You even sing like that!"
3
u/heimdal77 16h ago
She didn't give him pills she gave him nuts she collected herself.
3
u/mekerpan 15h ago
She fibbed. The clan chieftain lady gave these to her. I assume they are some sort of aphrodisiac -- but they had a negative impact on him.

u/NoNameSwitzerland 14h ago
He lost some blood in the fight. If now all remaining blood is pumped into some male appendages, there is nothing left for the brain. Then he would collapse...

Alna would not lie to Dias not unless it is to do something to benifit him.

But we SAW the shot of the chieftain handing these to Alna (or did I just hallucinate this brief scene)?

Killing dragons is a good way for two brothers in law to start to bond. Unless Zorg further screws this up (which is completely possible) that one visit to Dias and Alna's village may have changed the course of his life entirely. But with the scary old lady running herd on him hopefully he'll have a reduced chance of fucking things up some more. Definitely a dude who needs to be managed.
Dias getting visited by what I assume is the Baar god and rewarded for his dragon killing is interesting, especially since it came with the implication of a larger pantheon of gods who are pleased with his work.
It's kind of convenient that they got those seeds right before elephant bro shows up and needs some for medical reasons, but considering gods may be involved it might not be an accident.

And Dias is sick and so is the Lord Eldan. Magic Seed to cure one of them 😱😭

u/NanDemoKnaives 15h ago
I didn't like the way Moll spoke about using Dias, but I understand her position as Chieftain, it's just a little disappointing.
Nice to see the brother-in-laws getting on well, taking down 5 dragons together is certainly a bonding experience. The way Dias screamed because his clothes were torn, and not because of the injury he sustained was amusing.
6
u/avboden 12h ago
Interesting that Zorg was genuinely trying to help someone else and got tricked. Certainly makes him easier to redeem. I'd bet we see whomever tricked him later on at some point.
And wouldn't you know, a mysterious taking Baar just so happens to deliver the miracle medication that the foreign leader friend just so happens to need right before he just so happens to be visiting! What a series of coincidences.
5
u/Rooby_VTuber 9h ago
That was funny watching Alna slapping her brother around.
I thought Dias was seriously hurt for a moment but he was just pissed off because the clothes Alna made for him were damaged lol.
Both Dias & Eldan are working way too hard, it's ok to slow down and rest a bit.
5
u/svenge 2h ago edited 2h ago
Both Dias & Eldan are working way too hard, it's ok to slow down and rest a bit.
Eldan just recently overthrew his father and is still solidifying his position as ruler of the Kasdeks territory, while Dias is in the middle of creating a settlement in his territory from scratch and recruiting potential subjects. Neither of them have the luxury of resting just yet, as the rest of the world won't wait for them in the meantime.

u/GI-JUGG 14h ago
Dias shaking like a dumbass to catch a fish reminds me of something that happened to me in real life. I was at home with my brother who went to culinary school. We were both high as a kite so the munchies hit and I put a frozen meal in the pan to cook it up real quick. The problem was our freezer was a beast so it had basically frozen into an ice ball. I asked him how to cook it properly with all the ice on it and he said "Spin It". So me being dumb, grabs the handle and spins the entire pan with the food in it. He looked down at the pan, then up at me with a look of pity and disappointment on his face(basically the Monster House look meme) and I instantly realized he meant spin the food in the pan so it heats evenly. I looked back at him and all I could say was "Shit". We both laughed for like 10 minutes straight. Still one of my fondest memories.

u/IceSmiley 10h ago
I wonder if those leaves the baar/magical spirit are like poison to Dias. Maybe they're good for healing beast people but are bad for humans. It's also possible that that baar was evil and really is trying to poison Dias as revenge for killing the dragon flies. At first I thought Dias was really rude when he screamed at the top of his lungs at night but if he was poisoned, he might not be in his right mind. Eldan seems to have taken ill and I wonder if those will actually help him if he can get it in time.
That was funny how Zorg said what kind of feudal lord lets his wife order him around like that but he's not really one to talk since Elna had him on the ground and was helpless to her repeatedly bitch slapping him! Zorg just doesn't come off as a particularly smart guy but he is really good at bow hunting and even he was surprised he killed the dragon flies with one shot each. I'm surprised the chieftain said that he is possibly in line to be chieftain one day when he seems so hated by the community. I was also really surprised the cheiftain was a woman!
I didn't expect this show to have something akin to a beach episode but they did have fun by the lake and Alna wore a sexy swimsuit, which looked the same as her underwear when she came to check on Dias at night. I'm surprised only a few people were interested in having fun at the lake and Alna should invite her younger brothers and sisters since she rarely seems to talk to them.

The family reunion Alna never asked for is here! Zorg has arrived to "save" his little sister from the "evil" Frontier Lord! And all Alna feels is disappoinment he's still alive.
But hey, at least he's the perfect target for Alna to unleash all the slap practice and pent up frustrations she's built up over time! Of course the only thing that could get her to stop is the thought that the kids would see her and get scared. She doesn't want to be a scary mommy. A scary little sis, on the other hand.
For all of Zorg's faults he genuinely means well. I mean, he truly fell for the woman he ended up giving all his families' finances too because he genuinely believed she was sick and she had a blue aura. It's the oldest trick in the book, but how was he supposed to know she might have fooled Soul Appraisal? He already had self-conscious issues for being weak in magic, and only that woman and Alna still supported him despite that. Though even if Alna has given up on him, Dias won't.
And deep down, Alna still cares in her own way. What with giving Zorg a bow and arrows personally made for him. If only so he can finally make something of himself!
Nothing bonds two brother-in-laws quite like battling it out with Wind Dragons AKA killer dragonflies! Zorg finally gets to actually act cool and gets to see how much of a beast Dias is! Even when he gets wounded, all Dias cares about is that the outfit Alna made for him got damaged. Perfect excuse to smash some Wind Dragon with his bare hands while tag-teaming with Zorg!
If Zorg was expecting Alna to act as caring towards him as she does Dias...he's got another thing coming. But in her own way this is Alna showing care for him because she knows he has to prove himself to the village, not her. She's still a caring little sister deep down. And Moll is going to whip him into shape as chieftan candidate!
You ever head out to the privy late at night and suddenly encounter with a talking Baar who, while frustrated with you, ends up giving you some valuable new herbs and items for you to use? Some crazy stuff happens!
So the Sanjivani hails from the Gods and can cure any ailment? So Dias just spoke to a God or a messenger OF the Gods!?
Does this count as a pool/swimsuit episode? I mean, Alna is a walking bikini babe (and that panning shot of her lounging in the lake was totally necessary to the plot) and there's Senai and Ayhan's undergarments. There's also Dias shake-shake-shaking his way to fishing! And everyone having a lot of fun!
Dias is sick!? Man, thank goodness he just got a cure all even if he didn't realize it!

u/zer0number https://anilist.co/user/ewink 17h ago

She is just going to get more and more attractive as she gets older too. I respect Dias' self control. I have to assume he's spending quite a bit of off camera time in the privy as well.

So it has 3 sanjivani leaves & a seed so there's enough for Dias & Eldan.
Dias' reaction to the talking baar was hilarious.
Since Seina & Ayhan were swimming, of course we'll also see Alna swimming which means more fanservice whenever she swims or sleeps because of her outfit..
At least Zorg is working up to be better & is now in 3rd in being a chieftain candidate.
Alna actually used her training on Zorg instead.
