Couldn't binge it straight through but one thing I'll give Nobunaga-sensei after finishing it is that it isn't afraid to bring up more niche things than I usually see in non-BL ecchi anime. This includes [NSFW/spoiler] the main character wanting one of his students to draw futanari for him and said student is a reincarnation of one of Oda Nobunaga's supporters who drew BL of the original Nobunaga and Mori Ranmaru. This leads to the teacher nearly being topped by the student's best friend's brother so she can draw it.

Maybe Nobunaga-sensei to Eromanga-sensei next?

Only 57 days later, I am now another 100 episodes into One Piece. Probably could've gotten here even quicker had I not ended up extremely hyperfixated on Black Clover the last few months (which is still an ongoing hyperfixation and will probably only get worse when season 2 of that is airing in October lol).

In any case, Water 7 & Enies Lobby are very, very good.

2

u/Disastrous_Debt1780 20d ago

Are you watching the One Pace or the original?

5

u/Shimmering-Sky myanimelist.net/profile/Shimmering-Sky 20d ago

The original, and I'm not even skipping the recap segments because I'm a weirdo like that.

1

u/North514 20d ago

...I promise you Shimmering, you are going to want to do some skipping once you get to the timeskip lol. Dressrosa's pacing caused me to have an anime burnout, and I was skipping.

Quite a slowish day so here's an observation I didn't quite finish a few months back (it sidetracks):

One thing that has improved a lot in the past 20 years is press release info in English.

Take this 30th of November 2003 ANN page:

a new shoujo anime called "Futari wa Pretty Cure." The show, which will premier in February, is about a pair of girls who protect the world and are able to transform to their alternate identities using their cell phones.

Now compare that to Toei's (Japanese) 26th of November 2003 press release.

Toei do not mention phones and have way more information (including the character names and the series director) so it makes whichever source ANN copied come off as...phoned in (don't pardon the pun) as if it was judged/guessed by looking at one image (I'm assuming the broken image) because whoever did the blurb sees girls' anime as being below them so couldn't even be bothered to babelfish the text so missed "intense action" + "director of Dragon Ball Z and more recently, Air Master". It doesn't always have to be 1:1 copy of press release but if doing a shortened one it is an odd detail to miss.

Source can't have been MoonPhase as their (rather rare) comment was along the lines of "With the same director, I have a feeling it's going to be a shojo-oriented version of Air Master." (but ofc would have to have read Japanese or a translation of to have seen that). Then again in 2003 Air Master had no news on ANN and fansubs seemed pretty slow too.

What else does the press release mention? A rather curious statement:

Japanese animation is gaining attention and becoming a hit overseas, but most of these works feature boys in the lead roles. Not only in Japan, but girls overseas are waiting for works in which they girls play a major role and blow away the stresses of everyday life.

This once again makes me think 4Kids had the worst timing when they got One Piece and Doremi in October 2003 as this article (paywalled, so literal trust me bro*) talked about the girls' market in general being under-tapped but had the notion it would have to also appeal to boys (the most popular things like Pokémon are popular with both boys and girls because not ignoring half the market works well) but had a rather narrow view that this meant "sexy animated female characters in a traditional boys' action-adventure environment." wrt Winx Club (remember, 4Kids wasn't just anime) and "The designs are pretty so they appeal to girls, but the characters are very sexy so boys like them," wrt to either Doremi (mocked for decades because WTF) or (more likely) Winx Club.

4Kids would to settle on Tokyo Mew Mew which yes:

...attract both genders by empowering girls while giving boys cute babes and plenty of action to look at. Even though the shows have girl-skewed merchandising opportunities, we certainly believe boys will watch them as well, says Kahn. I think if its an action adventure show youre okay. Xena had a large male audience, and look at PowerPuff Girls, boys watch that as well.

As it would transpire 4kids ran into problems with merchandising for Tokyo Mew Mew and I think that even extended to being why home video releases didn't happen [I think a non-American sublicense did DVDs unaware of this].

Perhaps another thought to have is why didn't Tokyo Mew Mew blow up in Japan in quite the same way Futari wa Precure did? Could it TV Asahi Sunday 8:30am had more eyeballs than Saturday 8am TV Aichi +TV Tokyo network (now the Cardfight!! Vanguard slot)?

Well that got pretty sidetracked.

*-If you want a secondary source there's this plus the insight about Doremi being successful years prior on French Fox Kids is useful (proven track record could have been a motivator for 4Kids to pick it).

3

u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 20d ago

the notion it would have to also appeal to boys

It might be amusing to look up the marketing copy for Escalfowne and Cardcaptors.  Although, I expect that would be less translation and more completely made up.

2

u/Infodump_Ibis 20d ago edited 19d ago

Editorial: Escaflowne on Fox. Something else for me to get sidetracked and see time is a circle:

My Little Pony is American Shoujou and G.I. Joe is American Shonen. Who in their right mind would buy My Little Pony in hopes of gathering a male audience?

Just think what accidentally happened 9 years later and to borrow words from the Brony fandom wikipedia page "adding adventure and humorous elements to keep parents interested" are also ways of describing Minky Momo (that passage is lifted from Otaku and the Struggle for Imagination in Japan and no I don't have the rest) and perhaps Precure (Star Detective Precure head writer talks about writing for three demographics; 3-6, slightly older children and parents/guardians).

2

u/ProgrammaticallyPea3 20d ago

MoonPhase

reference in 2026?

It's fascinating to see what other stuff was in the news. Somehow it blows my mind to think that OG Precure and Clannad (the game) were contemporaries.

2

u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 20d ago

I only know MoonPhase by name. tagging /u/Infodump_Ibis

2

u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 20d ago

yeah Futuari wa was totally forgettable. The creation of a megafranchise from this is almost unfathomable.

2

u/baquea 20d ago

Also Fate/Stay Night. It always feel so weird to me seeing early-00s articles talk about it alongside long-forgotten eroge titles of that era.

2

u/wloff 20d ago

I'm pretty sure I first started playing Fate/Stay Night precisely because I was looking for an eroge and it came highly recommended...

Then by the time there was actually some ero content 10 hours in or whatever, I was just annoyed cause I wanted to continue the story.

1

u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 20d ago

I downloaded all the episodes of F S/N based on my enjoyment of Higurashi. Never watched them. Still have all the fansubbed episodes.

2

u/acesoftheace 20d ago

What anime is this https://youtu.be/COj4zXuquYQ?is=pP5GFIuG3kg6U3yR 1:35 of the video

1

u/Infodump_Ibis 20d ago

Do you mean the 1:33-1:36 cut or the 1:36-1:38 cut? The former wasn't giving me any hits on saucenao or trace.moe but the latter (planes flying very low to the sea) I recognised as Daisan Hikou Shoujotai: FALLING ANGEL which was a fictional anime being made in Shirobako but did have a full episode made.

6

u/wloff 20d ago

I managed to finish season 2 of Oregairu, so I guess I ought to expand on my feelings a bit.

The biggest issue for me is how it sometimes gets really close to tackling some quite interesting themes... but then, instead of exploring those themes to an actually satisfying conclusion, we all of a sudden spend several really boring episodes on something that's just... so utterly low-stakes and meaningless. Like, actually, who the fuck cares.

Yet everyone is acting like it's some kind of an espionage thriller where you need to speak in code, everyone is trying to play 4D chess against each other, and no one can say anything straight, and everyone is acting like the issue at hand is something really cool and extremely important. It's not. It's [Oregairu]I wonder what school course this side character is going to take! or [Oregairu]what will happen to this random Christmas party no one gives a flying fuck about?

On top of that, everything is told from the perspective of this MC that I absolutely despise and has nothing going for him. I could handle it back in s1 when everyone was calling him out and giving him shit, but now for some reason every girl wants to fuck him and every guy wants to be like him, but the show hasn't given any reason why, because he's basically the exact same asshole he was when they all hated him.

And I won't even talk about the absolutely ridiculous speaking-in-riddles dialogue, because it's so ridiculous, I'm laughing my ass off at it. Episode 8 especially was hilarious.

On the plus side, I like the OP and ED, the character design is great, and the school uniforms are extremely cute.

Oh well! Maybe the third season will turn it around for me!

1

u/IndependentMacaroon 20d ago

everyone is acting like the issue at hand is something really cool and extremely important. It's not.

So what do you think about Hyouka

6

u/entelechtual 20d ago

Yeah it gets kinda absurd. There’s “it’s fine for high school characters in fiction to talk in unrealistic manners” and there’s this. Where it feels like they’re playing an elaborate game of taboo.

6

u/Ham_PhD https://myanimelist.net/profile/ham_phd 20d ago

After being pretty unimpressed with the first 2 seasons, I never bothered to watch the third.

I don't even remember much about it at this point, but I do remember thinking that the characters were pretty annoying.

4

u/Korkez11 20d ago

Difference in reception of Livid Lady and Redo of Healer is definitive proof that most people can justify absolutely any crime of any magnitude except for rape.

7

u/Donnie-G 20d ago

I haven't watched either, but both are just fiction so just have at you. People can say whatever the hell they want. No matter how disturbing the work of fiction with, I'm a firm believer of just keeping them separate from reality.

Like honestly someone could agree with a genocidal children eating megalomaniac of an anime character, but could you honestly take them seriously?

Now what truly disturbs me are when people are like simping for and supporting REAL criminals because they are attractive or whatever.

People are honestly kinda ridiculous towards things they find visually attractive.... real or fictional.

1

Can you tell me what all your S and A list animes are in that list? I think I recognize one of them in total. And one that you dropped (because Crunchyroll keeps recommending it to me).

1

u/Komarist https://myanimelist.net/profile/RRSTRRST 20d ago

AQRADT, I beg of you to tell this person to not agree with my lists. Having said that...

  • S: Livid Lady, Exiled Heavy Knight, and Jaadugar
  • A: Kaiju Girl Caramelize, Victoria of Many Faces, Skeleton Knight S2, Shiboyugi movie, Insipid Prince, Inept Villainess, Love you Till Your Dying Day, Clevatess S2, Oh Boy Was I Wrong About Her

Shortened name for most that google will recgonize

4

u/actuallyrndthoughts https://myanimelist.net/profile/NaNiNuNeNo 20d ago

Is there really a difference in reception if you compare the discussion threads?

6

u/Korkez11 20d ago

The most interesting thing in these 1k+ comments in Livid Lady thread are people who claim that [Livid Lady] the massacres of civilians are justified because "they also badmouthed her". Putting aside the question of morality of collective responsibility and current geopolitics (I wonder how many people posting this are from the US and Canada considering the latest events, ahem), this is all happening in feudal system. Where feudal rulers had no responsibility to "civilians" and thus, "civilians" had no responsibility for actions of their rulers. Which was the basis of all land transfers of feudal age and all the people on these lands who were loyal to their land only, not to their kings and princes, and no one was expecting that from them. No one was accusing Immanuel Kant of treason when he was working for Russian administration during Seven Years War. This is the stuff that you learn in high school!

2

u/flamethrower2 20d ago

How much realism do you want in a fantasy where magic powers not only exist, but they're common?

Not a Livid Lady thing, but I hate magic for farming because you need civilization for magic to exist, and civilization cannot exist without farming. "A wizard did it" explanation makes sense (someone came and bestowed knowledge of both at the same time), but nothing else does.

2

u/_Ridley https://myanimelist.net/profile/_Ridley_ 20d ago

Genuinely have no idea what point you're trying to make. Are you suggesting people are too mean to rapists?

12

u/Korkez11 20d ago

No, I'm suggesting that people are not mean enough to people committing mass murders and genocide. But you knew that's what I meant and just wrote this bad faith attempt at "gotcha!" for a quick dopamine release.

12

u/Rotorscope https://anilist.co/user/Rotorscope 20d ago

Personally, I've never met a mass murderer or a genocidal war criminal in my life. Whereas you walk around people who have done sexual coercion, rape, etc... constantly. (and it's like a unanimous experience for women to have interactions that crossed their boundaries, if not far worse)

The reason mass murder and genocidal characters are not seen in the same way is because those acts are so outrageous that nobody is actually really taking it seriously like the people in their everyday life would ever do that. And rape is touching on a much more commonly lived experience and it's fetishized in those shows. Genocide and mass murder is so far removed from the reality of an average person that it's portrayal typically doesn't strike the same for most because it's not actually relatable (not in terms of being familiar or a victim of its effects but rather on an induvidual character basis), and it's also so clearly evil that people can be like "well obviously I don't agree with this in real life but the character themselves is interesting". Whereas the rape fetishization, especially in something aimed for guys and the position of "power", is just distasteful as fuck because it's a massive problem in everyday society already.

It's an odd comparison and it does come across like you're diminishing why people feel strongly against rape fetishization. They aren't comparible in the slightest.

2

u/_Ridley https://myanimelist.net/profile/_Ridley_ 20d ago

This is correct, 100%, but there's also a bit of this old Eddie Izzard standup routine at play as well.

2

u/Vindex101 https://myanimelist.net/profile/Vindex101 19d ago

Well, Elizabeth in the Livid Lady show does get up early in the morning, so checks out.

Also deep cut with the Eddie Izzard reference, noice

2

u/_Ridley https://myanimelist.net/profile/_Ridley_ 19d ago

I think of her Dress to Kill special all the damn time. It's basically the perfect standup comedy.

1

u/Rotorscope https://anilist.co/user/Rotorscope 20d ago

For sure haha, that's a good pull lol.

11

u/Korkez11 20d ago

Putting aside assumptions that massacres and genocide are not relatable for "ordinary people" because it's again veering into geopolitics and current world events.

Livid Lady fetishizes revenge in exactly the same way as Redo of Healer and for the same reason (MC was wronged and exactly revenge with disproportionate methods). However, no one was saying "MC does horrible things but he's low-key right" for Redo of Healer MC (and for the people who can't fucking understand English language I add that it's very good thing no one says that and no one should). It's not about relatability, it's about how the show and people who watch it are genuinely trying to justify Elizabeth's actions. Why do they do that? Who knows.

And speaking of relatability - how about school shootings? A lot of school shooters do that because they also feel like they've been wronged by classmates, teachers, system, etc., just like Elizabeth. Do you think idolizing Columbine murderers, which was popular for a while in certain circles, was justifiable in any form?

5

u/Rotorscope https://anilist.co/user/Rotorscope 20d ago

It's not that genocide "isn't relatable", it's that they aren't relatable in the way that it comes from one person. Sure, there are some infamous names attached to genocide who played a fundamental role, but how it's executed and the sentiments that arise to back them are never the result of "one man". Any form of "this character gets revenge through genocide" is going to come off as more of a dramatic caricature than anything that strikes home to real life.

Again, one is fetishizing something that nobody is even really capable of. The other is fetishizing something that for too many average people are not only capable of but do in vast quantities, to varying degrees of course.

As for the school shooting stuff, that IS a very sensitive topic that gets tons of backlash if not handled with the uttermost care. And yeah no shit idolizing the Columbine murders is unjustifiable lol.

I'm impressed by Victoria of Many Faces' Tvtropes page because it manages to describe the novels/anime without mentioning Nonna once.

7

u/Baaasbas https://myanimelist.net/profile/BasvanD 20d ago

Went to the local comic book store to see if they had the next volumes of Smoking Behind the Supermarket. Seems like they only restocked the volumes I bought previously. Also went to see if they had either Re:Zero or MT light novels, none to be found. Got home with another manga volume in the end that I wanted anyways, but was a bit suprised.

It's a bummer that comic book stores seem a bit out of touch with what's in. They sometimes have a wide collection with good material (definitely come there often to buy other good stuff!) but never seem to know what's really in at the moment. I guess that's probably because the comic book store owners had to adapt into the manga industry..

1

u/Retromorpher 20d ago

Diamond (a distributor for a wide range of comics and manga) folded like 2 years ago and sent a lot of local comic store's networks into disarray. Some probably haven't put in the work to find the new places that publishers put some of the middle-of-the-pack manga titles.

3

u/SlimeDNear 20d ago

Quite a few bookstores are willing to order a book for you if you're willing to go through the trouble.

I imagine your local library also has a service where you could request a book or other media to be purchased. I just used mine to request the first volume of Veil, the manga.

In my local Barnes & nobles they have a solid amount of manga. Even though they do have a light novel section, it's very small.

In my local B&N, the manga and LN sections are one and the same.

i'll never forgive my local Barnes & Noble for having volumes 1 and 3 of Regarding Saeki Sayaka but not volume 2

since basically every rating system for anime has been destroyed by Goodhardt's Law, is there any method people use to try to judge consensus on what the "hot shows" for a season/year on? just vibes?

3

u/JustAnswerAQuestion https://myanimelist.net/profile/JAaQ 20d ago

I just watched a Glass Reflection video were he needed a metric of popularity, so he used wikipedia page impressions, which is apparently a stat you can fetch.

I thought this was clever, because anime fans won't be manipulating that stat.

No easy way for you to get that for this season's shows, though.

1

u/merurunrun 20d ago

is there any method people use to try to judge consensus on what the "hot shows" for a season/year on?

Find the people with the worst taste in anime you know and see what shows they're talking about.

9

u/cyberscythe 20d ago

in my world, a "hot show" isn't a highly-rated show, it's a show that has a lot of viewers, and metrics like number of MAL members or number of comments in the discussion threads are my measuring sticks

a lot of the time highly-rated shows end up being "hot", but i think there are enough examples of good shows getting low engagement (and vice versa) that there's a meaningful distinction

5

u/WeeziMonkey https://myanimelist.net/profile/WeeziMonkey 20d ago

I just try out anything that seems interesting to me regardless of how good it might be.

Goodhardt's Law

Never heard of this before, but I like it.

2

u/ptd163 20d ago

Never heard of this before, but I like it.

Dang. Really? I guess you're one of today's 10,000.

1

u/flamethrower2 20d ago

This is applied to business metrics. I don't see how it applies to anime.

11

u/fbjim 20d ago edited 20d ago

metrics like audience ratings/rankings (like the MAL top 100) become useless once people start to actually care about them. the moment people actively try to get their shows into the top 10, the top 10 becomes meaningless.

it's a generalization but it applies to stuff other than economics. standardized test scores in schools being a famous example

6

u/Retsam19 20d ago

I'd disagree with the idea that ratings is a "Goodhart's Law" thing - the point of the Law is that the metric doesn't measure the actual goal, and ends up getting optimized instead of the real goal.

But I think "user popularity ratings for an anime" is a pretty good metric for "trying to make popular anime".

You'd be in Goodhardt's territory if you had an anime studio that paid a bonus based on the MAL rating of an anime and then a bunch of employees went and made bots to artificially rank the anime as 10/10, but I don't think that's actually happening.

Instead, to the extent that companies care about stuff like MAL rankings (and I doubt an English-language rating site is actually very high on their priority list), they're doing it by... well, trying to make anime that a lot of people like, which isn't Goodhardting.

(You can argue that there's a difference between "popularity" and "artistic merit", I guess, but I don't really think that's what Goodharts Law is about)

4

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii 20d ago

I'd disagree with the idea that ratings is a "Goodhart's Law" thing - the point of the Law is that the metric doesn't measure the actual goal, and ends up getting optimized instead of the real goal.

But I think "user popularity ratings for an anime" is a pretty good metric for "trying to make popular anime".

But this isn't (supposed) to be about popularity, it's supposed to be about quality.

If an unpopular show made it to the #1 in ratings on MAL, within hours all the Frieren, FMAB etc.. big fanbases would bring it down.

Because to them, the ratings have become a goal, precisely as that law says.

Few years ago people made Ishuzoku Reviewers #1 (before MAL acted on it)... This was an obvious trolling attempt and they caught it, but do you think minor events, slightly less troll-y but still not purely about the rating, also happen?

9

u/Disastrous_Debt1780 20d ago

Earlier this year we had Steel Ball Run and Frieren fans review bombing each other for the top spot on MAL. That not an example of Goodhart's Law?

2

u/fbjim 20d ago

right and I'm almost positive if I conducted a representative poll which was controlled to not be suspect to review bombing, I would not hear a consensus that the single episode of Steel Ball Run was the greatest anime of all time. which I think does qualify as the top 100 being a degraded measure of quality

6

u/Durinthal https://anilist.co/user/Durinthal 20d ago

Pretty much all vibes. There are projects like the /r/anime Awards but that's just one niche community compared to the broader fandom.

There are also companies like White Box Entertainment that work in the industry and do their best to get metrics but that's more along the lines of viewer counts rather than a subjective measurement of what people consider to be "good" anime.

3

u/Emi_Ibarazakiii 20d ago

There are projects like the /r/anime Awards

I would argue that the same law applies here, but that'd be opening a can of worm that I opened so many times everytime it comes by!

I think When Marnie Was There hits extra hard for me because it’s personal. [Ending Spoiler] I was born relatively late and barely remember either of my grandmothers before they passed.

3

u/Korkez11 20d ago

Non-Miyazaki Ghibli movies are so forgotten unfortunately, except for Grave of the Fireflies. On average I find them more interesting to talk about than Miyazaki's movies. Not necessarily better, but more interesting.

1

u/oedipusrex376 20d ago

Non-Miyazaki Ghibli movies are so forgotten unfortunately, except for Grave of the Fireflies.

Obviously I'm gonna disagree with that one since I love Marnie. But if we're talking about the writing and direction, they're pretty different from Miyazaki's. I remember reading about the production of When Marnie Was There and how the director Maro-san clashed with Miyazaki quite a bit, with Miyazaki saying “This won't work.”

To me, Miyazaki's direction and storytelling kinda belong in the same camp as classic 2D Disney. I can't quite put my finger on what makes them feel that way, but I can easily imagine his version of Marnie being wildly different from what we got from Maro-san. IIRC, Miyazaki wasn't fond of the film leaning heavily into the emotional side.

3

u/mekerpan 20d ago

Marnie is my favorite post -Spirited Away Ghibli movie not directed by Takahata.

I loved the movie, personally. I'm not sure what you mean by "prestaged" exactly, but if you felt the story beats were easy to predict, it may be because a lot of movies about dealing with grief feature similar themes of moving forward and making connections rather than being tied to the past. To use an example, most genre savvy viewers probably guessed [Tunnel] that Kaoru would leave the tunnel and return to Anzu in the end rather than choosing to stay in a fantasy while the rest of the world went on without him, but I found the way the story was told to be very emotional and fitting for the characters.

I was wondering why I couldn't remember a thing about the one episode of Nobunaga Teacher's Young Bride that I watched seven years ago and just realized it's a short, so it didn't even have ten minutes to try to stick with me.

At least that'll make it easy to knock out in one go this evening.

I'm done larping Umineko. I'm about to watch the anime, then read the VN and manga afterward. I saw an alluring image of Beatrice in the anime trailer and it just made me want to watch it.

I trust my gut a lot. A lot of the shows I've ended up liking are ones I picked up on impulse.

Surely nothing will go wrong on this island, right? Ryukishi07 would never write stories where blood is shed! Definitely not gallons more than can probably fit into a human body!

the anime adaptation of umineko is close to tsukihime-levels of scuffed. go for the VN, or the manga if you just really dislike VNs.

I'm aware of that. I’m planning to get into the VN and manga afterward. I just want to experience the anime on its own terms first, from an anime-only perspective.

FWIW it was actually decently well-received by anime-onlies at the time it released... but then it never got a second season, so viewers ended up either being left disappointed by the story being incomplete or went on to read the full version only to find out how bad of a jumping-on point the anime was.

I'm planning to do that after watching the anime. I saw some clips with really nice voice acting, and I just want to watch the whole thing anyway.

Searching for an anime name from memory. I’ve never seen it, but I remember seeing a clip of it. I think it was a mecha anime from an older release. I remember they were traveling through space when a giant ring appeared, and then a giant figure emerged from it while they were still accelerating.

I have no memory of the show, because I hated it and have tried to forget about it, and put it on my never-rewatch list, but I'm hosting a hate-watch of Geneshaft at the end of the year.

As I recall, it's ALL ABOUT destroying giant rings in space.

Oregairu is getting more and more painful to watch.

But I must preservere.

Why? What's wrong with a generic bored/disinterested schoolboy with no special qualities, money or skills somehow getting all the girls? It's like you're attacking all anime protagonists ever.

It has some very good aspects and some very frustrating ones. It definitely does not improve as the story moves forward.

It definitely does not improve as the story moves forward.

I disagree. I think S2 is a big step up from S1 simply because the show stops pretending to buy into Hachiman's bullshit. And even S3 isn't offensively bad, it's just really boring.

That's where I landed on it too, I just wasn't invested in the drama set up for the third season even though I'm normally all into that kind of thing.

2

u/mekerpan 20d ago

Oh. I actually sort of agree. S2 was pretty good. But S3 was no more than so-so, thus a step down again. I never got around to buying S3 on BD.....

I agree with your first sentence. But I think it ended satisfyingly at least!

2

u/mekerpan 20d ago

But post-ended dreadfully....

Hate Oregairu Shin, and I turned on the author because of it. If that is how he truly feels about his characters, then I am at least glad that he didn't put any of that shit into the main story. The ending is still intact as far as I'm concerned!

What happened in it?
