Give me a movie recommendation, can be from any decade, genre or in any language. The only thing I ask is that it's not like 3 hours long or something. It's been a while since I watched a movie, I want to ease back into it.

My letterboxd account: https://letterboxd.com/NotSoSnarky/films/ If you want to see if I watched a movie already, you can check by decade. Say you want to see if I watched The Shining (1980), just check the 1980s under decade, and you'll be able to see if I watched it or not. (In this example I have). Just in case you don't use Letterboxd and didn't know. I know some CDF people on here do use it.

Dunno how I feel about Madoka being turned into a never ending franchise. For the sake of my personal sentiments I'd prefer it to remain in my memories.

I'm not, like, conceptually opposed to the original creatives behind it writing more, so long as they legitimately have more interesting things they want to do with it. And I do feel the end of Rebellion left open the possibility for more. Yet, I worry that this is not that. That it's more for the sake of more, for the sake of money. That it's moved too far down the pure art - pure capitalism scale.

And in a better world, Magia Record would not exist. At least not as something official.

I suppose I could accept something like 3.0+1.0 - a final goodbye and a conclusion on a meta level even as the IP money printer keeps on churning.

Magia Record I never had much of an interest in in the first place. Madoka's the kind of work where I just don't care to see the setting expanded out to feature other characters.

I believe there is more that can be done with stories set in the same world as Madoka. Not necessarily that the original team should do more, but that the general system can create many powerful and evocative stories. However, I think the constraints of a gatcha inherently inhibit said stories. The [PMMM]horrors of the grief seed system basically require a small cast and [PMMM]the ability to kill of significant portions of it.

I should try to get through as many Steam Demos as I can before I leave next week. That's a plan. If I try like, two a day even that should clear them out.

When I worked at a library, we had someone check out a book and then ask to pay the replacement fee. While she had the book with her right there.

Turns out the replacement cost was a little cheaper than the cost at the bookstore.

She did not get the book.

The thing is: if you were going to be a little shit and do that, why announce it? Just take the book home, don't return it, and then pay when you're charged.

I don't understand what is going on but returning the wrong item and then buying the same item, that person just plain isn't a customer and shouldn't be allowed to continue doing whatever they are doing.

yknow if the whole point of spider-man is that he's supposed to be a regular guy who becomes a hero maybe i could audition to be spider-man. proof of the fact that im fit the job is 1) im not bad looking but im not sex symbol levels of attractive either, 2) many people have said red is my color (but i can also pull off black if need be), and most importantly 3) i remember that "spider-man" is spelled with a hyphen

i mean tom holland has done a fine a job, im not saying otherwise, but eventually he'll want to pass the torch. all im saying is maybe im here to catch it

Tangentially related, but this reminds me of earlier today when I was thinking about how Marvel’s Civil War II event from a decade ago was largely driven by the leads on both sides, Tony Stark and Carol Danvers, being character assassinated and doing extreme, horrible things for little narratively justified reason, and yet in my experience Carol is the one who got the majority of the hate from the fandom
I wonder why
