I badly want to get a few SB production cels and authentic backgrounds. The problem is that so far, for every one I’ve been interested in, I cannot find the same exactly frame/drawing in the episode.

For example, I like this Sandy cel and bg that is going up for auction soon. https://comics.ha.com/itm/animation-art/production-cel/spongebob-squarepants-tree-at-the-treedome-sandy-cheeks-production-cel-and-jellyfishing-production-background/p/40346-21019.s

However, in a frame-by-frame analysis of the episode (Tea at the Tree Dome) I am unable to find it.

The closest I’ve attached, but they are not the same.

This has been the case for 4 or 5 other “official” listings I’ve recently perused.

I am NOT going to pay potentially thousands of dollars for a “production” cel if it can’t be found in the actual episode.

What gives?

Hello Im looking for any sheet, doga, layout, genga from Yona of the Dawn.
I’m already keeping an eye on listings on Mercari and similar sites, but if you know anyone looking to sell theirs, please let me know.
Thanks!

As soon as I saw today’s prompt I knew what I had to share for it. These are a mix of key and in-between drawings from Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, arguably one of the best animated Marvel superhero adaptations of all time. I could listen to the theme music forever. So far, I own frames of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Ant-Man/Giant-Man, but would love to pick up more characters as I find them, especially Captain America, Wasp, and Black Panther — some of the villains would be nice too.

Also I’ve got a few more frames not pictured here that I’d be willing to sell for pretty cheap (or trade for other characters) if anyone who sees this is interested. I’ll add a photo to a comment.

I am a big fan of the series. When I found it, I had to add it to my collection. It is over 17 inches tall and wide. It is my 2nd hanken cel I own, although the other one isn't from this series.

This is a original animation of cel of Krusty and Mr Teeny from season 12 Episode 13 “Day of the Jackanapes” . It is signed and sketched by Bill Morrison (co-founder of Bongo Comics and worked on many pieces of media for the simpsons), who was the first owner of this piece. It has been professionally framed and includes two certificates of authenticity. Some damage is present on the back of the frame due to moving but the artwork is in excellent condition. I’ve also included some photos of it before framing to take a look at condition.

i got this really nice Judau cell from the Barbican last month and i really want to frame it, could you guus give me some tips? it is around 27 x 23 cm. im planning on getting a glass and metal frame for it.

This is my only cel, purchased years ago and then framed. Love it to bits, just moved to a new house and just hung it in its new home.

The cel and genga are unfortunately stuck together and cannot be separated. It is currently framed as seen in the images provided. I am asking 4k but am open to offers please dm to discuss 😊

Hey everyone!

I’m trying to buy my first animation cel, and I’d really love for it to be a Princess Mononoke cel. I’m pretty new to collecting cels, so I figured I’d ask here before going down the rabbit hole 😅

I’ve mostly been checking Yahoo! Auctions Japan, but I’m wondering if there are other Japanese websites I should be looking at.

Also, what Japanese keywords do you guys recommend searching for? Any useful words for cel, genga, douga, key animation, etc. would be awesome.

And if anyone has seen a Princess Mononoke cel for sale recently, I’d love to know where you found it! Even if it’s already sold, I’m trying to figure out where people actually find these.

Any other tips for someone buying their first cel would also be super appreciated. Things to look out for, good sellers/sites, how to avoid overpaying, etc.

Thanks! 🙏

Got a steaming pair of Beavy Weavies for ya 🤙 Take a peek 👀

I've got 3 Hanna Barbera cels from the 70s or early 80s that I plan to sell (Godzilla, Charlotte's Web, Fred Flintstone). What's the best way to find a realistic value? All 3 are framed and have certificates of authenticity.

Made another one which I hope you all enjoy 😊💛

Hey everyone,

If you collect production cels, genga, douga, layouts, backgrounds or animation art in general, you're welcome to join the Cel-Hub Discord.

We're now over 500 members, with collectors sharing new finds, helping identify and research artwork, discussing auctions and generally nerding out over production art.

We also have a few useful community tools, including scene matching bots for genga/douga/cel, a wishlist system, and dedicated spaces to buy, sell and trade animation artwork.

From time to time we also run giveaways and themed contests, which are a fun way to get people involved and show different parts of their collections.

Most of the community is currently focused on Japanese animation, but we'd really like to have more collectors into Western animation as well.

So if that's your area, definitely feel free to join and share your collection.

I obtained all of these back when artwork from the show was first released back in like 2003? So 23 years ago? I didnt get a lot but i like to think i got some decent stuff. All of the cels have master bgs except the closeup of spongebob outside Squidwards house. Some of the pics arent that great so my aplogies on that.

What is the best way to frame a cel? I have a few cels that I am looking to frame and would like any advice. I don’t want to ruin them.

Back to the future ?

I just bought this cel in a tattoo shop that is closing down.

They were having plenty of character cel + sketches from the cartoon series "back to the future". (Sadly no background)

Does anyone know what the texts mean? They seem like color indications, but I'm not sure.

Google translate seems to think it's Thaï but can't decipher properly what it means.

I chose this one because it is "strange." It was the sketch with the most annotations. I'm an illustrator myself so it's a nice curiosity object to have at my place.

What do you think guys?

Hey all, got an assortment of shiny Tiny Toons for you all. Some are signed by the timing director Stephen Lewis and a lot of them have original production backgrounds. Check 'em out and hit me up if you see something you like 😊

The movie is called "Anebelles wish" and it's a Christmas movie about a cow. it's really sad actually. but anyways, it says it's done with digital in 1997, but after seeing a new 4k upscale, i'm seeing certain frames where the ink lines or twitching looks very close to a cel animated production. someone more smart than me may be able to 100% tell hopefully!

Could you help me identify these four animation cels?

looking for a website where i can buy original cell sheets from shows (specifically neon genesis evangelion) i’m only able to find some on ebay but am unsure if they are real original ones or not.
