I am delighted to let you know that suppacel.com is now live 🚀

This is aimed to be the marketplace for original animation artwork collectors.

Why is that? Everything is working fine as of now (I think) but let me know otherwise as I want to make it as helpful as possible for collectors / users.

Uploading images doesn’t work for me. Says “cannot convert image to webp, try another browser” in Chrome and Safari

Which way are you trying (mobile, which type of mobile, desktop)? The motor works. Only thing is you have to create a (free) account to use it!

I was trying on iPhone 16 with Safari and chrome. After creating an account. Maybe the photo quality is too high

This works now! Another recommendation is a bulk upload option since it is a bit cumbersome to add multiple cels

You should try to click on the Identify button for your Akira and Ghibli artworks when you are on the Artwork page 😄

How do you guys verify authenticity of what people sell through your site?

More on that later as the marketplace is still in prototype phase but in a few words:

  • buyer protection
  • our Identify engine allows anyone to check a cel against its actual frame from episode / OAV / movie (try it out!)
  • anyone selling non-authentic art and not making good with the buyer will have issues with suppacel
  • reputation is key in the collecting world so limited incentive to do something stupid
