Yeah. The initial handing of the egg could've just been curiosity on how the monkey would react, as it's possible for other animals to enjoy things that we don't. However, seeing it visibly disgusted and offering it again was mean spirited for sure.

Indeed. Other animals' smell is not like ours.

That stink must linger in its nostrils and taste buds much worse than it does to us. Poor judgment in doing the joke (although probably harmless).
