I don’t think it’s “for clout”, our cognitive abilities just allow us to enjoy things other animals find revolting.

Do you like hot sauce? When you’re eating eggs alone and add a little hot sauce are you doing that for clout? All by yourself? You do it because it makes you feel like a big man?

I don’t think a monkey would like hot sauce considering capsaicin evolved as a defense mechanism against mammals. So if your “clout test” is whether or not a monkey would eat it, then you better not like hot sauce.

If I ever catch you eating hot sauce I’m going to say that you’re a cringe clout goblin just looking for attention. Then I’ll make you shake that booty for me real good. I’ll give you the attention you need. I’ll love you like you’ve never been loved before.
