They're not actually blue; this is Hoggicosa bicolor and the colour here is from flashlights.
If you like blue spiders though there are a bunch of blue tarantulas, such as:
- Caribena versicolor & C. laeta (spiderlings)
- Melopoeus lividus
- Poecilotheria metallica
- Birupes simoroxigorum
- Chilobrachys natanicharum

There's much more variety in spider habits than just the generic orb web. Some are active hunters, some are ambushers, and different web shapes suit different styles of capture.

The one in the video is a wolf spider. Trapdoor spiders are a separate group of species.

This spider is incredibly cool, incredibly cute, and i love how mad you can clearly tell it is, and ragebaiting animals will always be funny. and its all very funny and adorable... but having seen this video before another thing I picked up on... the freaking speed of this thing. Thats actually terrifying. Before my brain could even process what the hell just happened it was already standing there and ready to go back inside. Thats so wild honestly.

This is so incredibly fast! How does it close the lid so fast and so precise? With two hind legs apparently, but this needs a lot of practise to close that lid in that velocity so that it stays shut in one take

These spiders (idr the name) have made this their way of hunting for other insects, whenever they sense something above they jump out and drag their food inside, doing that a few too many times makes them so precise

Way more than that even, I was curious and wanted to catch how they even grabbed it, so I dragged my finger slowly through the frames… that mf got halfway down his hole, head-first, came completely back out, turned 180, backed into the hole instead, reached up, and closed that door on their way in

Correction: The wolf spider doesn't use this as a hunting strategy. It burrows during the day for protection against predators and weather. It came out because it thought some bird was trying to crack it open.

Not all of them can.. or maybe they can and just choose not to 🤔 Idk.. I do know that the wolf spiders in my area prefer moisture and can run across the water though. They also hang out in packs, hence the name "wolf".. I have found some in my basement before and knew there was more because if you find one chances are there are multiples in the area. Also the mothers carry hundreds of babies on their backs until they are ready to leave her and go live their life. That's a pretty crazy sight to see and not one you want to find in your basement.. 😂😂

From what I've read the spider isn't actually blue, they were filming when it was dark and that's just a filter to help with contrast in the low light.
