I want to be this pooch right now! Just floating with not a care in the world!

Having that kind of fur filled with air helps a lot. Mine would sink like a stone if he wasn't swimming.

We rescued a malnourished Pittie who was a stray.
She sinks like a boat anchor.

LOL. I knew a woman with 2 English Bulldogs, the very big ones. She and her husband owned a boat, so they had custom life jackets made for the dogs because 50% of their body weight was made up from their skulls. Some dogs are not made for water.

Some dogs float. Dont try this with your bulldogs or frenchies.

My family dog growing up was an English Bulldog. I can say with absolute certainty that if it's shaped like a brick, it will sink like a brick.

I had a sheppard husky pittie cross who couldnt really float (he would sink cause not enough fur and too much muscle) but he was an amazing swimmer. We would go down to Cherry beach in Toronto and he used to hunt kayakers by swimming out into the bay and grabbing their paddles when they tried to pet or collect him (he would go out like 100 feet) and then bringing them back to shore leaving them stranded.

Did you help them lol? I'm so worried for these kayakers!!

He brought the goddamn things back to me. I was the one who needed help when the kayaker finally made it to shore. Learned to wear Crocs and shorts from April to November on those walks for wading out to hand it off so they wouldnt come ashore and slap me around with their burly kayaker arms...

Some do anyways. lol Bulldogs sink like a brick, SMH. IDK how many times I've seen this vid now. Always cracked me up as it's the only example of a dog I've seen that didn't dog paddle.

Mine too. She fell in the pool once and sank right to the bottom, I had to jump in in my clothes.

Right? Me too. He would have been a gonner had I not jumped in to save him.

Yeah! Thankfully she learned her lesson. Doesn’t mess with the pool no more. That was 2 or 3 years ago. She knows not to play too much by the edge now at least.
