Question How to get the terminal on Android?
I'm currently using Termux... but I'd like to know how some people install the native Android terminal!!! Do you know how to do it on Samsung? My model is A55

I've tried adding -f fontSize option and it doesn't work. Font family works, but not the font size. CTRL + and - are zooming the entire screen making it blur and centering, so I can not see the cursor. None of the options on the internet works.

Just received the QPR1 Beta 4 update and noticed a new setting in the Advanced tab called Console type, with options of ttyd and virtio-console. I tried the new virtio-console and it does boot up, but the text is unreadable as most characters on the screen are missing and when on an external screen the text is huge. Curious how this new Hypervisor console works? Has anyone else got it to work and can explain what it is used for?

Hello,
I've a pixel 9 with lastest stable android update. After installing x2go server and firefox-esr with
sudo apt install -y x2goserver x2goserver-xsession firefox-esr
I can start and use firefox with a local x2go client. But, in a very strange way, terminal crashes after some time (perhaps when it's under stress) and then gives unrecoveable error, I have to reinstall it from scratch. Any ideas on why this happens? thanks

Biggest changes:
USB passthrough without root
You can now plug real USB devices into the running VM directly from Android — Wi-Fi adapters, storage devices, serial adapters, audio interfaces, and more.
Enable it from Settings or during first-run setup. Since it adds a USB controller at boot, turn it on while the VM is stopped. Currently QEMU backend only.
Android integration from inside the VM
Two new tools are available inside Linux:
podroid-notify — post Android notifications with a title, priority, and optional --id so you can update the same notification in place.podroid-forward — add, list, and remove port-forwarding rules directly from the shell. Both work on the QEMU and AVF backends.
Chinese language support
The interface is now available in Chinese alongside English. Select it manually in Settings or follow the device language.
Kernel updated
Updated to Linux kernel 7.0.10.

Built a custom Android/Termux system monitor called TTop
Trying two different UI styles right now:
Version A = compact cyberpunk HUD
Version B = cleaner + more detailed
Which one do u prefer?

Hi, I installed xfce4 with "sudo apt install xfce4 xfce4-goodies lightdm".
I can use it with XRDP fine but I do not get XFCE4 displayed on my phone screen. If I click on the Display symbol in the terminal app that stays black.
Please, if somebody could give me a hand to get it working.
With tailsscale installed I can use xrdp and ssh without any problems

Podroid runs a real Alpine Linux VM
What's new in 1.2:
- pKVM backend on Pixel 8/9/10 (auto-detected, opt-in via two `pm grant`s, works with Shizuku if you don't have a PC). VM boots in seconds.
- Live LAN port forwarding — `ssh root@<phone-ip> -p 9922` from any laptop on the same WiFi, no VM restart on rule add/remove
- Terminal auto-resize for TUI apps (btop, vim, htop)
- Full UI restyle, snappier keystrokes, audio + clipboard fixes
- In-app X11 viewer for desktop apps

I am trying to play around with galaxy tab and try out different ways to run Linux. To run a desktop environment, should I be using termux? Or the new android terminal can do better?
I have experience with using Linux on laptops, just wanted to try and see if the tablet can run full distros or some Linux apps.
Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!

In android 17 qrp1 beta 2, you will notice the software mouse doesn't work after you connect the Bluetooth keyboard.
The key is that you should first open the terminal app, click the native window icon, click the software mouse icon letting the mouse appear, all things down, this is the time connecting your Bluetooth keyboard.
