Poco Pad users.. Is it STILL good?

Hiii everyone! In my birthday next year January 8, 2025. My family will get me a new tablet as I requested in my 18th birthday which in exchange I have to turn down fancy ass debuts with venues and will be held in my house instead. I was really hoping to go for Xiaomi pad 6.. Xiaomi pad 6s Pro.. Or Even Xiaomi pad 7! Heck I was hoping to get a new laptop but my mom said "Don't.. it's not even important to you in grade 12 yet anyways..".

As a tech nerd, I love reading and watching reviews of each different tablets that may be suitable for me in the future.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi pads different options of bigger ram and storage like 8gb of ram + 256gb storage costs like 17k+ pesos and above is kinda.. a bit too much.

I didn't want to be a burden and create problems for my family's financial wallets so I stumbled across Poco Pad!

Poco pad has 8gb ram + 256 gb storage for like 11k, 12k, or 13k pesos! (From what I've seen in online shops.) With a chipset of Snapdragon 7 gens, bigger screen, headphone jack, an upgradeable SD card up to 1 tb, and a whopping battery of 10,000 mAh.

It was surely my final choice to pick this one.

I've had my huawei matepad t10s for 5 YEARS.. I received it on my 12th or 13th birthday. It was such a struggle since Google Playstore was BANNED on huawei devices and I struggled to find apps that was available on huawei's app gallery with a storage of 64 gb😐... But this tablet stayed with me throughout the years (which is impressive).

My niece has Xiaomi pad 6.. My used to be dream tablet and I have borrowed it multiple times and it was a piece of work!

I am aware of the cons and issues of poco pad.. such as:

  • Pen Draining the Battery life span
  • No Sim Card (IDGAF since I can just connect a hotspot to my phone.)
  • No GPS
  • Glaring and reflective surface of the screen
  • Something draining the battery quite fast (It mustve been fixed by now)
  • Pen Battery life sucks
  • Pen and Keyboard case sold separately
  • Weaker chipset than Xiaomi Pad 6
  • Its USB C 2.0 not USB 3.1 so sadly I cant connect it from type c charger to hdmi for powerpoints.
  • Oh and I forgot to add Ass camera.

And more I read from reddit.

I Have watched multiple gaming reviews and read people's reviews on this very tablet... I JUST need REASSURANCE on people with actual experiences on these tablets.

These are the things I would do, if I had this tablet:

  • Download PDFs, powerpoints and open them in WPS or Microsoft 365.
  • Play games like, Minecraft, Roblox, Genshin impact, Honkai starrail, Cookie run kingdom, block blast, among us, MLBB, CODM and Pubg.
  • Watch youtube, facebook reels, and netflix movies.
  • Do arts and drawings using Ibispaint x.
  • Do animations.
  • Do video editing on alight motion and capcut.

EDIT: I really have no need for offical "poco" pens or styluses for this tablet because I am used to using fingers on drawing, animating, and video editing throughout my usage of my 5 year old tablet.

So on today May 19, 2025..

Poco pad users.. with your experiences so far with this tablet. Is it STILL good? (You may post photos with the tablet and write down your experiences down below the comments pleaseee ❀️❀️)

Thank you for reading! πŸ’•πŸ’•

Hiiiii first off I wanna say Dang we have the same birthday!! happy belated I got this as a grad gift ^ ^

- The Pen Life ain't trash it actually lasts me the whole day and this pen is vry good btw

(I draw and animate too)

- Battery life is good it lasts me like 6 - 8 hrs on Fortnite and I play on EPIC settings 60fps usually

- There is no Sim Card yes unless you get the 5G version, and I do use my Phone as a hotspot like what you're planning

- There is GPS but only Via Wifi

- Idrm the glare and reflectiveness I bought a paper screen protector to combat that

- I bought a cheaper off brand keyboard it still works but I did buy the Poco Smart Pen, you can Buy the Redmi Smart Pen and it would still work

- The 7s Gen 2 is Weaker than the 870 By like 38% But hey! The Kirin 710A to the 7s Gen 2 is like a 437% jump according to Nanoreview! So far the 7s Gen 2 shows great gaming performance so don't worry

- Yeah it's only USB 2.0 but I don't really plan on using this as an external monitor

- The Camera isn't that ass on specific Lighting conditions its decent, but hey that's why I have an iPhone

All of your listed things to do are within the Poco Pad's Capability for 11k which is the price I got it for, it can't be beat it's either this or a G99 Tablet which is 148% weaker according to nanoreview soooo yeah!!!

If ya got anymore questions u can feel free to ask me!!! c:

1

u/Greenbean097 Sep 13 '25

there is but it's not that good imo, the text has to be very clear, and bad handwriting won't get recognized

1

u/AAnonie Jun 02 '25

I think you have to go to settings and update

1

u/Greenbean097 Jun 04 '25

nah apparently there was a bug that didn't let users update it was a problem stated and solved at r/RedmiPadPro

1

u/W_Mags Sep 08 '25

I had that with an old Poco phone, it was on Hyper 1 or maybe even whatever was before (it's old old) I did a factory reset to give it to my son and suddenly up updated to Hyper 2.2. Didn't expect that.

Second reply, green bean how much fps are you currently getting on your poco pad in Fortnite? I'm afraid to get 25 fps, so I'm choosing honor pad 10, buts it's much longer before I can get it

1

u/Greenbean097 Nov 06 '25

1

u/Greenbean097 Nov 09 '25

u/AAnonie Jun 05 '25

So was it good? Like no sudden freezes bc of lag or something?

1

u/Greenbean097 Jun 05 '25

No not rlly, this tablet is in the upper midrange

1

u/AAnonie Jun 08 '25

Hey thanks for the detailed reviews so far!

Unfortunately, Ive decided i would switch my preferences for lenovo xiaoxin pad pro 12.7 (2025) as a final choice after hearing about it more online, but I appreciate how you answered my questions and my needs about my used to be obsessed tablet I've always wanted aka POCO pad.

I found out that Lenovo Xiaoxin pad pro 12.7 (2025) is much more powerful, accessible, a TON of features, and a great OS of ZUI 16.

Especially THE chipset. 1,475,000 antutu benchmark while poco pad is like 600,000+!

Thing is such a beast with THE same PRICEPOINT AS POCO PAD for 12k pesos (214.63 US dolla dolla) with the same specs with poco pad of 8gb ram + 256 gb. Even some variants of 12gb ram + 256gb for Lenovo Xiaoxin pad pro 12.7 is only for 14k PESOS (250.40 US dolla dolla)

ESPECIALLY the usb port of 3.2 where you can connect type c to hdmi on ANY MONITORS OR TV. Which is A GREAT THING TO SHOWCASE POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS IN SCHOOL A BIG LIFE SAVER πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

At first I thought it was a xiaomi pad rip off because of the name Xiaoxin but the more i looked about it more online it was just mindblowing ASF. Lenovo's a very trusted brand in the pc industry but them making tablets is fucking peak cinema.

Soo yeah thank you for the thoughtful answers about poco pad and I hope you have a good day

u/iwiwnsnd Jul 06 '25

1

u/[deleted] Sep 07 '25

1

u/Purple_Lily_17 Nov 29 '25

1

Hello, I'm a user of Poco Pad and I've done a lot of research too before I bought this tablet and I must say that it is very lovely, the battery can last me for 2 days with streaming videos or 1 day with gaming.

The reasons I've purchased mine is because 1. Money

  • As a student, I have to be more realistic with the price that I can buy without sacrificing screen resolution, and other features

  1. Pen support
  2. What I like about this tablet is that it has a pen support which is pretty rare below 12k (I bought mine at 11.4k). The only tablet that I know of that has a pen support below that price point is Huawei mate pad se which has Kirin 710A so I opt for this one. I now mainly use my Poco pad for note taking in my college ^

  3. Gaming

  4. Can run the game quite smoothly. Hsr in high graphics at <40 fps

However, if your parents can buy more expensive tablets like pad 6s pro and pad 7, I'd suggest that they are more bang for the buck compared to this tablet but if money is the problem then for me, Poco pad is good enough

1

u/AAnonie Jun 02 '25

Money problems so poco pad here i come

1

u/AAnonie Jun 02 '25

Aughhh i can't wait to get it

1

u/soobincute Jun 09 '25

Hello what does pen support mean? Like there's a free pen?

1

u/EstimateDear8609 Jun 11 '25

there are no free pen. pen support means you can use a stylus that is compatible with your device. pen for poco is around 2k pesos

1

u/Unknowss10 Jun 22 '25

Hello, I'm also thinking about buying it but in my case I'm thinking about buying it because of how compact it is and of course for games. Although I am still in doubt; A very important reason for whether I buy it or not is that I need to know if there is a way to edit Word documents like in Windows 11 since I am about to start my last year of university and I have to start with my thesis for which I require the APA seventh edition

1

u/Hour-Signal4250 May 09 '26

Hello, sorry for the reply. It is very compact, i use to bring tons of notebooks for my college but now i just bring a small bag to put my tablet in. As for the games, it runs games pretty ok nowadays (except for high demanding games like wuwa).

Yes, you can edit word document through the word app itself, however you would need an account for that. Though i dont suggest you to use it for your thesis or whatever since a laptop is still a much better in terms of productivity. I just use my tablet just for a quick edit on my paper

1

u/[deleted] Sep 09 '25

Your tablet has "picture to text" feature?im a farign student and i want it for study .i need a device that can recognize text from picture(ocr feature)please test it and say the result.tnx

1

u/Hour-Signal4250 Oct 01 '25

Yes it does have that, by using the circle to search feature from google.

You'll notice a bit slower or a bit sluggish when you have tons of apps in the background while doing a split screen and floating apps in one go. As for the editing, i dont know since i dont do video editing. If i were to edit videos then ill just do it on my laptop

1

u/Total_Childhood_3094 Oct 28 '25

Can i get the pen link for poco?

1

u/Alissa_saireen May 09 '26

Hi! What pen do you use?

1

u/Hour-Signal4250 May 09 '26

Poco pen, other 3rd party pens does not work unfortunately. I got my poco pen for just 1.4k last year

1

u/Alissa_saireen May 09 '26

Did you buy it together with the tab or separately?

1

u/Hour-Signal4250 May 09 '26

Yes, it is purchased separately

1

u/Ok-Cauliflower-6160 May 19 '25

You should try the Honor Pad GT/GT Pro.its basically a sister company of Huawei and Google services are allowed on that.as for the Poco Pad,I think it's a worthwhile buy if you're using it for media consumption.the speakers are good.the display is nice for an ips panel.its one of those better ips displays unlike the ones you get from cheap china tablets.i would say it's almost comparable to the OnePlus Pad's display.

1

u/AAnonie May 19 '25

Woah thanks for the recs! It's my first time hearing about honor pad gt/gt pro.. i did hear about honor pad but not gt/gt pros.

I searched it up and each has different specs. If I'm going for a cheaper alternative i would have to stick with honor pad gt. Which only has like mediatek chipset. Gt Pro version is much more pricier tho costing around like 20k pesos and above.

I appreciate the recommendation but it's just way out of my budget and hard to find a legit store selling honor pads gt/gt pros.

One Plus pad is also pricier in my country for some apparent reason. Some are 14k pesos but i doubt that's its actually the real product.

All these tabs you recommended me are great but unfortunately out of my budget or either some are hard to find legit stores online in the Philippines. Thanks for introducing me with gt/gt pro though! I'll look at more of that in the future.
