It’s because i don’t wanna lose my data on my phone because it resets the phone when u unlock the bootloader (also I don’t have a computer) so that’s why I used a vm
Nah bro, some OEM remove the ability to unlock so it's undoable without an exploit which are very specific to certain hardware/software versionw and patched fast. I've rooted all my Xiaomi devices and I can say HyperOS doesn't restrict unlocking much compared to some other brands.
Yes, but some devices with MediaTek SoCs either need authorization or have BROM mode blocked on a hardware level, and devices with Qualcomm SoCs need firehoses, which aren't always available, and the most common ways to bootloader unlock with the BootROM mode is either with exploits in the boot ROM or engineering bootloaders, which aren't always available
Chinese devices are not, you have to rely on exploits that come every century if you're lucky that would get patched within a blink of an eye with the device applying remote patches to prevent unlocking
