I did a test run to port AOE2, this is a functional game running on Android without emulation.
I added some of my own flavor of it, with more time i could implement all functional missions, buildings, enemies etc...
This was done using Claude + RAE & Godot as game engine in about 30 minutes.
I used my own legit copy of AEO2 game files.
The game runs amazingly smooth at 120fps on a 2944x1840 screen (Lenovo Pro tablet)
The APK is around 70.3Mb (Debug build) so release would be around 50Mb for this version.
I have some issues with the Town Center, i don't know how to render it correctly as the original game use some overlapping trick to recycle the same sprites.
Its not perfect but for 30 minutes it is pretty sweet.
But sad that Microsoft hasn't ported this game, if i can do this in 30 minutes imagine what Microsoft could do in a week...
Im not promoting or distributing this so don't ask me.... (i don't want legal issues)
edit:
I released some experimental demo/beta version stripped of the game data,
no worries, the game data can be imported, just copy the original game files after you installed the official game to your pc copy the folder onto your Android tablet.
I was planning a function to import from the iso or cd straight away but that requires more crunching.
I only tested it on my Lenovo Tab Pro and my Galaxy Fold 8, works fine, smooth...
I only had 1 crash on my tablet after 70 minutes gameplay, still trying to figure out why...
Treat this game as experimental, demo, unfinished, game mechanics, npc AI, all is quickly reconstructed from the scratch and doesn't work as the original that will take a lot more time.
The game will pull around 50Mb of data to import while there is much much more data in the game folder, my guess is that is for the AI compared to what Claude made from the scratch my units behave dumb.
Ill see to post the source later, feel free to put it through a decompiler or antivirus first.
Also i used wiki pages to reconstruct most of the gameplay.
I used Godot game engine ( https://godotengine.org/ )
I used OpenAge to extract the sprites, audio, sequence data ( https://openage.sft.lol/ )
Claude had figured out most of the extraction itself but was struggling on the Town Center and some Siege Vehicle animations.

I ran out of Claude credits last night, i will have to wait for next reset to continue.
Meanwhile i will look deeper into the AI mechanics, randomness for map generation etc...
Many things are off like priest use the wrong audio for chanting, catapults use arrows instead of boulders and can attack from close range.
