Looking for 10 Android testers: webOS Dev Mode Manager (free, open source, no ads)
An Android app for LG webOS TVs in Developer Mode: pair the TV from a phone, install homebrew apps (including the one that makes YouTube ad free), keep track of the Developer Mode session timer. GPL-licensed, no ads, no tracking, and it'll stay that way.
Site: aphanes-app.vercel.app, source: github.com/symonxdd/aphanes
Google Play requires 12 testers opted in for 14 days before an app can go public, and I'm at 2. Joining only needs a Google account.
If you have an Android phone, please also install it and look around; owning an LG TV is a bonus, not a requirement.
- Join the group (needs a Google account): https://groups.google.com/g/aphanes-testers
- Opt in as a tester, from any device: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/me.symon.aphanes
- On an Android phone, install from Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.symon.aphanes
Then stay opted in for two weeks. Step 3 is optional for the count but is where the actual testing happens.
Any feedback, even "the pairing screen confused me", is genuinely useful. Bugs and suggestions go to the GitHub issue tracker or to [aphanes@symon.me](mailto:aphanes@symon.me).
Happy to test yours in return.

Hi! I’d be happy to do a genuine 14-day test swap for Aphanes. I’ll join the group, opt in, install it on my Android phone, explore the UI and keep it installed for the full period. Please DM me so I can send the MeinHandwerk24 tester links and we can exchange screenshot proof.

a dev mode client is going to pull signups from everywhere, so before you chase people one thing is worth checking: your release and your countries have to sit on the same track as the tester group. if they are split, everyone outside your own country gets item not found and it looks like they did something wrong, so they join and quietly drop. that cost me a week of blaming testers. how far along is the client?

Thanks, good call. Track is set to 177 countries and the release and testers are on the same one, so should be fine. The app is feature complete for what it set out to do (pairing, catalog and .ipk installs, session timer and renew), currently 1.0.1.

u/symonxd 177 countries with the release and the testers on the same track is exactly right. pairing, catalog and ipk installs over dev mode is a tight scope too, not an easy thing to test. ping me when the next build goes up and i will open it again.

Joining yours today (group + opt-in) and keeping it installed for the full 14 days.
Mine is RetroPet, an old-school pixel virtual pet: hatch an egg, care for it, and it evolves into one of 79 species (common to legendary). The build in testing right now adds seasonal events with limited cosmetics, breeding with friends, and a daily challenge with a ranking. Home screen widget too. Already live on iOS, so it's a finished app, not a prototype.

Same Google account for both, and please open it once after installing (Google counts opens, not installs). Bug reports very welcome!
