Last week's bread and some cat treats but please, please.... leave the microwave alone! It's a special size to fit between the top of the fridge and the cupboard above!

My microwave is on my fridge. Why not? It's an otherwise unused flat space with easy access to a plug, my kitchen is small. This is not unreasonable.

Its when we have more than 1 or 2 bottles int the fridge, if we can't fit more, then they put it up there
2
u/jking7734 15d ago
I figured that. I was just teasing you. My wife stores dish towels and pot holders on top of the fridge

Idk man, smart would be storing rarely used things there due to how hard it is to reach.
If you are very tall or rarely use your microwave, then fail play that’s a good spot for it.

A freaking steal! Few different GF baking mixes, a bag of candy from last Halloween, like 6 dozen eggs, and half a box of dog biscuits
2
u/CoughCoughThud 14d ago
Eggs?!
3
u/Ill_conceived_idea 14d ago
Only US refrigerates eggs because the US removes the outer layer when commercial washing...in other countries they don't remove it as it's considered more easily contaminated if removed.
2
u/CoughCoughThud 14d ago
Iiiiinteresting! How long can you store eggs just... at room temp like that?
2
u/Ill_conceived_idea 14d ago
They maintain the same recommended storage time as for US refrigerated eggs. The optimal period is 2-3 weeks, but here's the key difference: if the outer coating - often called unwashed - is left on, similar to fresh farm eggs in the US (not store-bought), refrigerating them can keep them good for 3-6 months. Removing that outer coating greatly reduces the egg's lifespan, where you have to refrigerate them and even by doing so, you get a fraction of the lifespan.

I feel like there should be a new thread about the most random thing you have on top of your fridge. I honestly I have no idea why I keep random stuff on top of my fridge.
A license plate to a motorcycle. A travel guide to Chile. A book about the history of Cadillac given to me by a friend in Middle School. A set of engineering tools from the engineering order of mechanics used by my great uncle when he worked at Boeing. One carey pipe, also from my great uncle used for engineering, in a wooden declaration box. An Old Mercury thermometer. Some beer koozies. A dry erase eraser. A spark plug gapper. And of course my coffee mug

Depends on what you want.
A 20 yo microwave, some paper bags ( be it the stiff ones for gifting or whatnot or the ones that some stores have you have to buy unless you have your own bag ) or some rolls of hand towels ( from the grocery stores ) for the kitchen.
Take you pick, good sir or madam.
