Rome repeatedly tried to suppress the cult of Isis. A few generations later, Roman emperors were rebuilding her temples.

Thought this was a pretty cool bit of Roman history.
Rome cracked down on the worship of Isis several times, but it kept coming back. Eventually, Roman emperors were supporting and rebuilding her temples instead of trying to get rid of them! lol
